I had Valley Fever (coccydiomycosis) in the 80s & lost a lobe of my lung due to mold. He is our local grizzly. Being a cop he has had plenty of action to test his techniques. This is a Japanese Jiu-jutsu escape, whether it be Judo, Shooto or catch wrestling, he knows them all well. Great job Rob!
These guys are showing just ONE defense from Japanese Jiu-jutsu, they are well versed in the Japanese arts, Judo, Shooto and in Brazilian Jiu-jutsu, and in Catch wrestling. We practice 11 different systems at our school.
Want to share mine and ill have a question doc. İ did juijitsu years ago 6-8 month .i even didnt get any yellow belt More of it i didnt care that stuff. But what i was caring was kind of awereness and focus.. Meditation ,After warming up when i was learning techniques i was feelin Kind of feeling that my arround. It was strange i loved it .footsteps breath of others and time was kind a slowing down in a moment. Blocings that i was doing was so easy strikes were slow to me. I never questioned it. I liked it. Now i have a hernia operation from L5. I dont do any juijitsu I missed that feeling.i could not feel just with meditation or some other like swimming Do you advice me to start juijitsu again? Does it make another hernia ?im concerned about it. Answer will be nice. Thank you.
We run an Eskrima-Kali-Arnis & Classical Yoga dojo. Great interview with master Eric. We start our black belt tests with yoga asana & breathing exercises, & end them with 30 minutes of seated meditation (after free sparring) as part of our effort to keep spiritual traditions in modern martial arts.
There is the activator and here I am using the J-Tech, similar devices and usages. The J-tech is more durable and does a great job and has a lower price tag.
Shihan, as you get comfortable with moving, do you encourage timing the impact of the jab or cross with the landing of the “lead” foot (first to move not closest to opponent, so if you are moving open side, your jab would land as the back foot falls into position, then slide the front foot with the jab recovery)?
Dr Pat I love watching your stuff especially the combat jiu-jitsu. I owned my own dojo for almost 20 years. Now I'm concentrating on music and surfing. And I don't even have any students... But my last set of students we used to use some of your drills because they were just so great at learning those wrist locks. My wife is a thai masseuse so I appreciate your chiropracting skills as well... Oh I don't want to bore you too much so I'll just mention the 10 years of jkd and 10 years of traditional karate... I still have the wing Chung dummy & enough escrima sticks to outfit a school. Who knows at 60 I might take on some students again .but probably not for a year or two.
