I wouldn't boycott any RC company yes traxxas has done some shady stuff in the past like sue HPI for duel steering servo and some other shady stuff I have my own 3d printing and
@23:20 Oh, the money on upgrades is always justified by smiles right? 😂 That’s what I say at least. Great looking Gladdy. Love the Club5 scale details as well. Got to have those metal emblems!! Cheers brother!
So true!😁😁 smiling right now! I have been quite pleased with club 5 parts and at the time were pretty cheap, and they have a great selection of parts for alot of rigs!
Good to see you back Gerry! Awful what happened. I love these blizzards. Looks like you'll have plenty of snow to push. Do you have an email for your channel?
That Gladiator was at the top of my list for a long time! By the time I got around to pulling the trigger and buying, my interest had also been turned to the TRX-6! I sure hope that Gladiator doesn't have to wait to long... That Trx6 is a whole other kind of beast for sure! Thanks Gerry! You have created a very nice work of RC truck art in your Gladiator! Well Done my friend!
Great review. You’ve got a lot of upgrades in that one. I have the 10.3 early Bronco and the CJ7. None of the bodies go on easy. But they’re nice rigs. I get this clicking sound out of both my 10.3’s does the Gladiator click when you run it? Thanks for the video.
Thank you buddy! I really have grown to love the 3 and still have to get a CJ! I had heard about the clicking but I cover all my gears with red &tacky grease and have not hears it.
Really nice job scaling that out Gerry. I think people buy these trail rigs with heavy bodies and expect them to perform like an lcg rig. I just try and stay with budget servos in an aluminum housing on my more performance type stuff because I have broken a lot of plastic mounts on my plastic servo housings. People just complain from what I see. We've had several of the 10.3 in the Basecamp models and they've been great, I did not care for my 10.2 honcho but O do like the 10.3 setup. Anyhow great review Gerry always enjoy watching
I have the Gladiator as well. I understand the point of dig, but would rather have had the two speed out of the box. For the price this thing cost, they could have tossed the extra servo on and a five channel radio and gave you both. I do like it, but looking back now. I probably would have opted for a TRX4. I already had a SCX10 Deadbolt, and the stock Gladiator doesn't do much more than a mildly modded Deadbolt.
Awesome review Gerry, I have had great luck with all my Axial rigs. My Scx24 Gladiator is one of my favourite rigs. I can't wait to see if Santa brings me a new 10 scale Gladiator. Stay safe buddy and have a great weekend. I hope there's a Friday episode.
@@gerrysoldguyreview nice. That crazy leaning tree is what caught my eye. I’ve always wanted to build an obstacle off of it, but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Awesome review Gerry. I removed the dig and opted for the two speed, I trimmed the inner wheel wells , now it's a lot easier putting the body on . Keep up the great content brother 👍
@@gerrysoldguyreview it's not hard at all, take out trans and remove back half of trans , remove little black spacer on shift fork and put back together. EZBOYRC has a video how to do. I hope that helps you out .
I always thought the SCX10 iii was axles attempt to fill the TRX 4 void with the inner fenders and more upscale body details. Having a few TRX 4’s and a few SCX10 ii rigs I have not felt the need to get a SCX iii but the CJ 7 in red/black is pretty tempting. Your Gladiator is pretty sharp looking though👍
I have the JLU version & i wish a had gotten the Defender version but anyway igs bee. A good rig but the dig is terrible when i got it first time out I tried the dig & it went out i disconnected it & never used it again. Its weird they give you a 3 channel radio & the receiver/esc is terrible. I look back & wonder why i paid over$500 for it. But it does perform well & is fun. The chassis is pretty stock but i have a bunch of upgrades on the body including fender deletes & the same hinge kit you have after seeing this i think I'm going to go through mine & take it out i dont get it out much which is a bummer because it's a great looking rig. Thanks for giving us a look. Hopefully you go through your SCX with the older Blazer body or compare the two. My eyes always go right to that Blazer.
I haven't built a kit, but have been thinking about it! You're pushing me in that direction, "nudging" would be more accurate... One of these days I'll get to it! I have three dogs and they mean the world to me! I would be lost without them, they are my best friends when it really counts and only us "dog guys" will understand that! Thanks for all you continue to do for this Hobby Gerry! God Bless my Friend!
hi Gerry, which one would you prefer, phonix , fordyce or stance?? will buy one for my son, but i'd like to know your opinion 'cause you have more experience than me, greeetins from ecuador, south america
Hello Paul! The stance is more just performance, fordyce bare bones .I would go with the Phoenix has all the bells and whistles and you can chose which ones you may want to use.
Nothing wrong with modifications to factory equipment at all, I cant see why some would say its a waste of time. I used to soak single stage foams in acetone amd wash them with dawn and water toss them in the dryer it softens some of the harder foams up, but that was way back when this fancy stuff wasn't available. I feel that a lot od the older ways have gotten lost or made fun of because in the crawler community in general lets face it its like werr spoiled because options have become endless. Everyone ans there brother seems to print 3D inserts now lol! I try and modify any stocker stuff to see how far you can push it I consider it a learning experience personally. Those Canyon trails I still feel are a fantastic tire for being off an rtr rig. Great video Gerry glad to see ya back posting content. Us older generation Rc guys gotta still put out these ideas some do definitely appreciate it for sure, ✌ oh and I like the drivers name 😀 😄
True about spoiled! But I have limited my self for sure by being cheap, when I buy a fancy mod it feels like iam spoiling myself. Being old we get stuck in our ways and I always look for my own mods over looking online! Thought you might like the drivers name!
Great video. I might never try that with those tires. I honestly think my FMS blazer outperforms most of my trail trucks if they all were at stock form for sure. I can't wait to see the new FCX 10 LC80 they just announced. I don't know if I will get one sent to me or not. I sure hope so. If not, I'll be buying as soon as I can.
Thanks bud! Just had the fcx10 out for it's first snow run and it was a kick in the ass!! So fun. Oh I to think I may have to get the lc80 looks so good!
Because you're the RC Man you are and a few other honest channels out there that I watch and trust, as I do you... I took advantage this September of Redcat's sale and picked up both a Gen 8V2 and a Marksman! I installed a HW fusion 1800kv in the Gen8 along with a set of Treal wheels, keeping the original tires and foams. It goes everywhere I set it up to go and then some! If there is anything to whine about, I haven't found it! The Marksman is Awesome right out of the box and deserves much more attention than it gets in my opinion! If you don't own one, you're missing out on a capable and FUN RC. Appreciate all you do for the hobby and for guys like me Gerry! God Bless my friend! :)
Appreciate your opinion and thoughts Gerry! You named all of my favorite channels... :) People need to learn that life is too short for all the hate and discontent.
I do the white lettering as much as possible, with a magnifying glass because I'm old and can't see lol! Try to do the panel lines with black wash, I think that makes the body look more realistic. Awesome video Gerry 👌
Im the king of cheap, i use the plastic trays from those cheap banquet frozen meals for inner fender wells. They are preformed, strong, flexible and you get 2 for a buck. Well you used to until they jumped up to a dollar eighty. Friggin Biden lol.
The devil is in the details that's the fun stuff making them look as close to 1:1 as possible, I agree the canyon trails look more scale. Thanks for sharing
As far as my cheap mod goes, if it’s a performance oriented rig, I take the spring cups off the shocks instead of buying new ones right away. It actually makes a world of difference on the rigs I’ve tried it on. Also, I use mini bungee straps from Walmart as limiting straps. They are way cheaper and last longer than actual shock limiting straps. Just a few bucks will get ya a big jar of them. They also work great for strapping down rigs on a trailer as well.
Never have taken off cups, will have to try! My goto for cheap has always been the auto parts store so it's nice that when I walk around my store my brain is always spinning!!🤣🤣
@@gerrysoldguyreview right, I’m the same way in almost every store I walk into. My mindset is always “what can I use for the RC trucks around here?”. As far as the spring cups go, it’s definitely not something I do to my trail rigs. However, if I come up to a crazy rock section with a trail rig, I have pulled the cups off for that particular section when needed. As easy as most of them are to remove and reinstall, it’s worth it for that bump in performance and stability, in most cases. It’s always one of my first “go to” mods when I get a new Capra or something similar, it makes a huge difference.
The 10.3 straight axle builders kit is an awesome platform to start with. That is what I used as a foundation for my wrecker build. Side note, the struggle is real, when it comes to having to clear out the leaves before crawling on the home course. Also, two videos in the same day…. Awesome!
I checked your weather report 10 to 18 inches.Wow you can have that stuff buddy , Yeah, I white letter all the time.Makes them look better make them run better 2👍🚚🚗🚗
Roy Rodgers once said that horses are smarter than humans. "You'll never see a bunch of horses betting on a person!" Dogs are different because they trust us. That's why it hurts. We adopt them as much as they adopt us. One day, the memories will bring a smile before a tear. I believe that...
Nice video 👍 I hope it's going well for you. Vet bills or by as bad,,as,doctors bills anymore Did you get to see the northern lights? I was looking for them here in Nebraska, but they😂👍🙏🙏🙏 never showed up. But I did get see the new comet A3 Atlas is pretty awesome and I got some pictures of it.
Pretty awesome. Mr. Jerry pretty awesome. Me seeing the northern lights here in Nebraska is pretty much of a rarity, but the comet kind of made up for it. Thanks for the good video.the northern lights on a Overcast. night would be freaking awesome, dude? Why I'm so jealous of you? That part of the country must be fantastic
@@gerrysoldguyreview nice. I’m sure we are still a month or so out before we get any snow, but I’ve got a couple rigs that are itching to get out and blast through some powder.
@@gerrysoldguyreview snow storm rippin’ is always an absolute blast! I’m hoping we get a good bit of snow here this year, it’s been some years since we had a legit snowy winter.
Awesome video Gerry, glad to have you back . Again, so sorry for your loss 🙏 there's a reason why they are mans best friend. Life goes on brother but most importantly never forget them. GOD BLESS!!!
Sorry about the pups. Nice to get back wrenching and nice mod with adding weights for the snow plowing. One day at a time my man. It was a rough year for us last year. Starting to get back to a newer normal. Reach out if you need anything.
I’m kinda speechless, glad to have you back…Audrey will definitely be missed. You take care of yourself and we will wait, real life always trumps RU-vid. 🤙
@@gerrysoldguyreview no, things have slowed down but FEMA did come out and do a inspection, take a bunch of pictures… but I’m not holding my breath on waiting to see if they help. I did talk to some local guys about bringing an excavator out to get the tree off the house, I’ve got a temporary patch on the roof and I’m very thankful we rarely get snow.
I just rechecked your channel earlier today because I hadn't seen any new videos & was thinking hmm I hope all is well but I know life happens & RC takes a back seat sometimes. Sorry to hear about the loss pets are like family. You are correct time heals all. It's good to see ya back. I lost both my parents & it's been about 4 yrs but I'm still trying to get over my grief. Anyways I don't know ow why but the snow plow reminds me of the one in the movie The Shinning must be because it's almost Halloween. 😂 I think it's a SCX but it's the Blue Blazer you have I was hoping maybe we could get a look at it. I didn't see any body clips on it so I was wondering how you mounted the body. But it's good to see ya back & it's interesting that I just sensed something wasn't right.
Gerry, sorry to hear about your pups. I've worked with dogs professionally for many years. They can be truly challenging at times, more than most will understand. Wishing you the best and thanks for the video.
@@gerrysoldguyreview good to hear man, been thinking about yall, I know it’s a rough situation. Glad to hear you’re getting back to it though! Keep your head up, you’ve got an awesome community here for ya.
