Thanks for turning me onto Blues Saraceno! I'd never heard his music. Very cool... I'l take that comparison, and I look forward to working through his playlist this weekend.
I love this show so much. Such powerful imagery and message of struggle, hope, and endurance. I was so sad when the Maui Theatre in which they performed closed and even more so that it in all likelihood it perished in the Maui fires. The spirit of Ulalena lives on and one day I feel they will return again even more triumphant than ever.
I couldn't get enough of this special production, even after experiencing it 5 times. The band was fantastic and the percussionist was wild, a show in itself. I will always remember Ulalena! I still have the soundtrack and the poster signed by the original cast, proudly displayed on the wall. I always wished they had toured the world with this production, as it was truly special and unlike any other. Mahalo to the person who posted.
You are more than welcome! This show impacted me the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd times I saw it. I felt compelled to share it and I love that this is still resonating with folks. Aloha!
I'm not an expert, by any means, on marine life but the dolphin seems happy. She seemed eager to take her *passenger* for his trip and just as eager to tell the trainer about it.
Because she understands that if she doesn't do it exactly that way, she doesn't eat. She knows she's supposed to act happy and friendly, go straight back to the trainer, etc.
Before what or when, Manaog? Images from the 20s and 30s, let along the 50s, are pretty easy to find with make-up and masks... I'm not sure what your point is...
A famous drag queen, she performed a balinese dance on a TV show (rupaul's drag race) & introduced a huge western audience to this art form with that :)
@@user-lt2py5sf3o yess she is, her real name is Sutan Amrullah & she grew up in Bali :) I also remember her explaining that the name of her drag character means King
She is a drag queen from RuPaul’s drag race and in the most recent episode of all stars, she performed this dance so that’s why everyone is bringing her up
@@Sam_ijbol the hell does race have to do with this 🤣 idiot And no, she didn't do "just as good". You must be blind af or just another clueless, cultureless white boy.
@@bluenorth3965 they probably don't know anything about cultural dances. Just another woke boy with a loud bark. You could take dancers and have them take huge dumps on the stage and call it a cultural dance and they would call it "amazing" just to be woke.
@@bluenorth3965 She did amazing every single person show their spirit in it and it’s different depending on their story she put her soul, her respect and her homage into something traditional and decided to do it. So don’t disrespect it even cause of the meaning it has for an entire culture and her
