LESS CAR MORE GO, my current project, is a documentary that will combine video submissions from all over the world with my own documentation of how the cargo bike movement is transforming lives, families and communities. <3 I bike everywhere, it is very seldom that I have to take a bus or train, I buy my groceries on a bike, I go to work on a bike, I ride a bike to the recycling station, to friends, to family, everywhere, and i LOVE that freedom.
1:34 I did this when I first got my license. With that said, I do own a car but also an ebike. Where I live, it's frozen 3 months of the year where cycling is unsafe due to road icing. I mostly rely on my ebike for commuting. The car is used only for road trips.
I know people who claim riding a bike is an act of regression. They're not being grown up, if they ride a bike. If riding the bike is not a grown up thing to do, fine with me. Being a grown up sucks, and is overrated.
ever since I was a kid I hated cars, I had a massive problem with car sickness when I was young combined with the smells it was just over stimulating. when I first heard about ebikes I was like: I'll just use that. I also saw how people lived in the suburbs and thought: When I buy a house I should just make that a business, and then I'll be the most successful shop in town. years later I still believe in that, and having learned about zoning laws, minimum parking, and the lobbying and manipulation of housing and transit, has confirmed what I knew. I for one cant wait for the bike and transit revolution this country needs.
3:13 Is that a VAZ 2107? I knew they were produced under a license in Egypt until 2011, and there are quite a few of them in former Soviet satellites, but Nicaragua?
Great movie, worth renting. Just watched and enjoyed the topics and interviews and vision, really great. The last few thousand miles on our family longtail cargo bike have been more rewarding and peaceful and fun than I could have ever for seen. Never have I been so happy with the outcome of a new purchase that has enhanced our daily life so much.
Oh wow this is fantastic !!! Love it i lived in london for 25 years and looking back reflecting on my past , im disgusted at myself ..back then i was excited and chuffed !! Oh i have a hew car and dad too !! We have personalised plates registration plates.. now i do not have a car as it broke down .. i made a funny joke a few weeks ago , my daughters got 5 kids and 4 goto the same school and its a 10 minute drive. Im always late (another performance that i need to take control of.) I used to think i needed to make allowances for my late behaviour. Ir should i say make excuses .. such as im late because there was a power cut or my car broke down .. anyhow sorry im getting to the cargo bike again i went off the topic then... But i think my son in law needs one ..here in uk 4kids and an adult cannot get into a normal taxi but need 2 cars(5 seaters) . Its riduculous so 41 a day in taxi fares ?? Not to mention the fact in London and Now in Newcastle you need to pay a fee of about 5 to 10 a day to enter the city !! Then the fines 😅😅 sorry im going to think about this another time and at a diffrent space.. but thank you for inspiring me to motivate and promote this to others ❤
This thing may change the world.. instead using gasoline Why dont we use our feet?? Less polution save earth and live a very simple and happy life.. I saw this in my dream bicycle will be useful than machines that eats gasoline and diesel Keep it up..
1:17 As I understand the video, this is a bike for people who donate to the Democratic Party. I'm looking for a bike built more for serious use than a political statement.
Hmmmmm........ I'm not American but when I heard that reference I immediately associated that with there being more of a concensus in the Democratic party even 11 years ago for encouraging alternatives to petroleum and internal combustion engines for personal transportation. Looking at the membership of the Republican party 11 years later right now there still seems to be mostly outright hostility towards supporting alternative options for personal transportation such as bicycles and associated infrastructure. As in bicycles are just for kids and recreation or sport. Not as an alternative to a car. So my question is, would someone contributing to the Republican party in 2023 encourage support for more cycling infrastructure as these people were advocating 11 years ago? Would there be any point in people like these contributing to the Republican party for more cycling support? And what do you mean by a bike built for more serious use? All of those bikes seem to be built for very serious use. Do you mean bikes just built for recreation and sport? I'm very interested to know what your thoughts are. Regards.
I am life long cyclist in the UK and a Childminder, seven months ago I invested in a e cargo bike to transport my minded children, it is the best thing I have ever done, every journey and I mean every single journey, no matter the weather, or where we are going is fun, we sing and chat, we can get around town so much faster than using the bus or on foot (I don't drive) and we are able to explore further and do new things. It has enabled me to take on a volunteer role in a small library several miles away and the bike is used every day for something, delivering food parcels, carrying tools for our community garden project, collecting DIY items, you name it, the bike does it. It is just , the best!

It's interesting how cargo bikes of all shapes and sizes were in use all over the world long before the so called 'American cargo bikes' were thought of....
Discovered this lovely, super channel just today and Wow am I happy I did as it has put in to words and pictures what is happening where I am. I moved (with my boat) to Zaandam near Amsterdam from the UK just 11 months ago. I used to cycle everywhere and have never really been without a bike however, in the UK the fossil fuel method of travel is still king and so many roads are risky and not so fun. But...here in the Netherlands people it is fun, fun, fun - I sold my car in the UK and for the first time in 45 years I am totally free! Its my legs, my lovely bike and a whole world to see, smell and hear....hallelujah. Keep spreading the word!
Guys before their time, innovative, Cargo bikes what a great way to simplify your life. You don't have to kill the family car, just step off in a new direction, reduce reliance on the car, there is so much you can do on a cargo bike in your home town and a great way to cycle camp.
„I just got groceries with my bike!“ Exciting! (sarcasm of). Must be a very American excitement. Most people have bikes and cars. You use what ever fits the need and situation. Why make a religion from it?
Who edited this video???!! You never get to see a actual close up or more them .5 second flash in the pan of a image of the actual cargo bike frame and how it works and why!! Who ever edited this must have had 20 cups of Santa Cruz roasting house coffee while editing it. This video totally misses its point by never ever not even one time let you see the cargo bike at a length of time to see how it’s made or designed or functions! Pointless video
The point of this video was to serve as a rough preview for our feature length doc, MOTHERLOAD about the cultural implications and potential of the cargo bike movement. The point was certainly NOT to teach anyone how to design a cargo bike :)! Not sure why you'd expect that? Most of us--even those like me who LOVE bikes-- would find a feature-length instructional video on cargo bike design terribly boring!
Love this! Just found your movie today. My wife & I have been using our cargo bike to ride to the store, find new ways to haul things and be with each other.
Holy crap, today is the 5th, and I find out there's a free screening near me on the 8th. I'll will try my best to make time to cycle the 20+ miles to go see it!
