For me, I'd LOVE to see another Wolfman but from House Of Dracula say, with more hair showing under the neck like he's torn his shirt button during transformation. That look for the Wolfman is way more ferocious-looking in general. ...Also another Mummy but Kharis this time. ...Was really dissapointed in their Karloff Mummy and he was the one I was most looking forward to! Thought the articulation points would have been easily hidden amongst the sulpt of the wrappings etc and we'd see a really faithful and life-like figure, but they went ahead and gave him a hideous torso cut which ruined the entire sculpt and is completely unnecessary for that character! Also they gave him 'birthing-hips' for goodness sake!! A Kharis Mummy with more loose / torn wrappings hanging off all over him would look really cool and creepy I think...as long as they don't fk it up again! Would definitely love a Werewolf of London too like you say - especially with the overcoat and hat!

Great list! You're probably right about NECA concentrating their efforts on different versions of the same character, unfortunately. Figures I'd also love to see, though, include Coin Clive's Dr. Frankenstein, along with Ernest Thesiger's Dr. Pretorius, and Dwight's Frye's Fritz. A glow-in-the-dark Man-Made Monster would be awesome! The Golem, definitely! Rondo Hatton would be great too! Tor Johnson's another one. A range of 50's monsters would also be amazing! The Monster of Piedras Blancas, I Married a Monster from Outer Space, It Conquered the World, The She Creature, From Hell It Came, The Thing, It! The Terror From Beyond Space, The Colossus of New York, Invasion of the Saucermen, The Alligator People, Invaders From Mars, The Hideous Sun Demon, etc. It's great that they're also releasing Christopher Lee's Dracula and Peter Cushing's Van Helsing, so perhaps a range of Hammer figures may also happen? (The Mummy, The Reptile, Curse of the Werewolf, Plague of the Zombies, etc). Time will tell..... 🤔

lol... there is a huge narrative gap between KSI and GVK. Needed a Kong movie in there... Ideally the one teased by the end credits of KOTM. But I would agree that the next two MV films should be a solo Godzilla one and a solo Kong one. They can have guest stars, like Rodan with Godzilla and Mothra with Kong, but the big two should go their separate ways now.

And you're right that a lot of Marc Davis's greatest material is either being removed or diluted. It's a real shame.

A by-committee group of 30 something people should not decide the future of their own brand and what is declared appropriate and problematic. It may not look pretty but I rather let something stay for generations to come rather than erase it in favor of something that feels cynical, out of touch and nothing but a boring fad that will eventually go away. We know Walt would want his company to elevate and keep moving forward, but they are taking this the wrong way. I would only go and support any product if there is good intention from the artist and something that isn’t rained on by unfavorable anti-consumer policies and mandates that do nothing but brand damage within the company.

Wow. You perfectly articulate everything I think and feel about this mess. It's so nice to hear from a Disney fan and not a mere Disney consumer. I'm with you on "not returning to Florida." @@MonsterKidCory I guess it originally started with Buzz Lightyear in Discoveryland. But, Hyperspace Mountain was supposed to be a temporary overlay in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the park and resort. Back then, we were doing parkwide refurbishments. I had completely stripped Pirates of the Caribbean, but we built it back better, as was expected of Disney back then. There was no editing due to "sensitivities." And when Tony Baxter, the legend himself, saw Pirates before and after, he was impressed. Even Phantom Manor received an update after the 25th, but the changes were primarily improvements in technology. There was no "rewriting" as was done more recently with the Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom. I left during the pandemic cuts, but I still hear from friends in Glendale and Paris. Les Mysteres du Nautilus was the first of the "updates" to premiere under the new Stories Matter Initiative. I can't speak ill of anyone involved in the project, but they were required to replace the impressive giant squid audio animatronic with "peaceful" views of under water sea life. They did their best with a video screen showing short films of dolphins and the like and they tried to make it somewhat realistic with the viewport's new aperture effect, but a video of a dolphins or hammerheads or humpbacks is just that, a video. And there is no "adventure" or "mystery" without the climax of the giant squid attack. Le Pays des Contes de Fees has recently been updated. Not refurbished, but updated, of course. The most egregious change was replacing the Oz scene with one from Pixar's Up. The attraction is literally "Storybook" Land Canal Boats. Oz is from a series of storybooks by an American author. Up is a Pixar animated feature. It's a movie, it's not even a story adapted to film from literature. Someone making these decisions clearly does not understand the concepts of their own attractions. I would have argued against the inclusion of Up. It might a more relevant cinematic IP to "modern audiences," but it does not make sense putting it there. Le Vol de Peter Pan will be closing next week for an update. If you're aware of the changes made to Peter Pan's Flight in the Magic Kingdom, I'm sure you can expect what will be coming to Parc Disneyland Paris. I was one of those advocating for the preservation of at least one of the Splash Mountains in the US, but my last "fight" with the Stories Matter Advisory Council was concerning the Indians in Peter Pan. I wasn't a DIE hire. That initiative wasn't introduced until 2016, I believe. But, I check off so many of their little DIE boxes and I am Anishinabek. I am an "Indian" within the meaning of the Indian Act. But, my opinion fell on deaf ears and I am "problematic" for having been educated in the Ontario school system just before it fell to the woke. The principal issue with the Indians in Peter Pan's Flight is their character design. Apparently, they're offensive and somehow racial stereotypes. Yet, the chief in Peter Pan is a spitting image of my band council chief from my youth. The new little figures created for Peter Pan are excellent depictions of Indigenous people. I especially like the little fancy shawl dancer. But, they are not the Indians from Disney's Peter Pan. Imagine Splash Mountain had been saved, but the three Br'er characters were replaced with Thumper from Bambi, Tod from the Fox & the Hound and Kenai from Brother Bear. Sure, they're more realistic looking animal characters. But, they're not part of the story of Song of the South or characters from the original African folklore of Br'er Rabbit. How do they not get it? I was also the one to point out the perpetuation of the myth of "terra nullius" with the removal of the Indigenous peoples from the various Jungle Rivers in The Jungle Cruise. Disney is willing to consult zoologists and animal behavioural scientists as not to offend Chimpanzees in their depiction in humourous scenes, but the opinion of an Indigenous person concerning the inclusion of Indigenous people in their Indigenous lands is problematic and my opinion is of little relevance because I am not indigenous to the Amazon or the Congo. Oh, and shrunken heads are an offensive and racist stereotype, but Egyptian mummification is not. So, good Sir. I very much appreciate you sharing your opinion and very valid criticism of the Walt Disney Company and Disney parks. I am fully empathetic to your disappointment with the "new Disney" and the Bob Iger Corporation. While I am not a Universal Monsters fan, I am making an effort to actually watching those classic films. Also, considering your previous visits to Tokyo Disney Resort, I expect that you will likely go back there for a more traditional Disney experience. You might also want to visit Ghibli Park in Nagakute while in Japan, if you're a fan of the works of Ghibli. It's not a theme park, but a themed park. And it was created for fans like you; people who actually appreciate the thoughtful details that tell a story rather than marketing an IP.

@@david_walker_esq Wowza... That's a lot! First of all, thank you for going to bat for the parks and their artistic integrity! As a huge Jules Verne nerd (it doesn't come out much on this RU-vid channel, but I had a blog about Victorian science fiction for about 20 years before this 😆) and I really wish I could have experienced Discoveryland as it originally was, with From the Earth to the Moon and Les Visionarium. Mission 2 was alright if a little generic, but I can't even see how Star Wars fits at all. The Peter Pan stuff is complicated... The new models do look great, but as you say they're not the characters from the movie. The movie versions in the ride were inoffensive, but in the movie itself I find them extremely cringe. It's the low-point in an otherwise excellent movie... But it does astonish me that Peter Pan gets a free pass because it's so well known but Song of the South doesn't even though the treatment of Indigenous people in Peter Pan is far, far more cringe than the treatment of Black people in Song of the South. And yeah, when Disney first posted about changing Splash Mountain to Princess and the Frog, I did reply that I LIKE Princess and the Frog but the irony wasn't lost on me that the Brer Rabbit stories are actual authentic Black folktales. In reply, people listing Imagineering as their employer called me racist ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The Jungle Cruise one does cheese me off... Firstly, it does reaffirm this myth of terra nullis and create this idea that imperialism and colonialism was a happy, diverse, multicultural project. But nobody really ever thought about the Jungle Cruise that deeply (even though one could argue that colonial explorers getting trashed by gorillas and chased up trees by rhinos was a satire on colonialism). What REALLY got my goat is that they explicitly wanted to purge Jungle Cruise of anything that could offend anybody and then ADDED a joke at the expense of Canadians. Like, wow, thanks guys. As for shrunken heads, I'm not sure what is supposed to be offensive about that. I worked in a museum. I've seen actual, real shrunken heads. Are we trying to be sensitive to the traditional cultural practice of beheading your enemies and carrying their heads as trophies? My wife and I are considering going to Japan this November pending finances. If we go, I would certainly spend a couple days at Disney... DisneySea is freakin' amazing and, as per my being a Jules Verne fan, I LOVE Mysterious Island. I'm really down to "I would go to Disney if I happened to be there" as opposed to taking trips expressly to Disney. There happens to be a Disneyland in Tokyo, and it's amazing. And it still has Splash Mountain 😆 The Ghibli park IS on the list as well, if we can comfortably fit it in. It's been a while since I was really into Ghibli, but it would be nice to see it nonetheless. Anyway, wow, you covered a lot. Thank you again for sharing it and for trying to go to bat for the parks while you had the chance!

NGL, but disney is what made me a fan of theme parks in the first place. But the competition between them and universal had made me realize how toxic the theme park competition has gotten in florida. Which is sadly another reason for me to leave Florida in 3 years, because at least when it comes to amusement parks in Connecticut, the competition there is probably less hostile and more passive than this

Oddly enough, I have the same feeling regarding Hammer Films' other movies outside their Gothic horrors. Although best known for bringing classic monsters like Dracula and Frankenstein back, before and after they have made some really good to great sci-fi and fantasy films, a number of which - the QUATERMASS films, X - THE UNKNOWN, THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN, SHE, and WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH - I actually strongly prefer.

I'm not a Universal Monsters fan. I've only seen clips of the old Monsters movies in film studies classes. My only major exposure would be the Mummy trilogy of 1999-2008. I was excited to see the Dark Universe concept art released in the last while. From a non-fan perspective, the built environment looks great. The Victoria Frankenstein character signalled to me what it was intended to signal and I can see how that would annoy actual Monsters fans. Knowing that Universal is pulling a Disney with the Monsters fanbase, I'm glad, at least, that they chose to brand the area as "Dark Universe" and not "Universal Monsters." Your fanbase deserves better, but it's becoming more and more difficult to expect it from Hollywood media conglomerates such as Disney and Universal.

Brilliant video. If I wanted to go on thrill rides alone I'd go to Six Flags. Those places are great too, and serve a purpose. But I go to Disney parks because of the immersive emotional reaction I have when I go there. I remember when I actually got to pilot the Mark Twain with my wife and that is by far one of my most favorite experiences ever in the park. I still have my pilots license framed in my office. It's these kinds of experiences that people enjoy about the parks. Every time the remove that nostalgia in favor of some new ride they are ruining that. It's sad that the current executives at Disney just can't understand that.

These are the same people that told me to stay home when I said taking away free Disability Access Pass for physically disabled people, many who will legit faint or have an attack in the standby, was a horrible idea. Course they also told me to buy Genie+ which is exactly why Disney gutted Das to force legitamitly disabled people to buy fast pass. So yeah I’m not playing Disney’s game, I’m voting with my dollar. These people are soooo up Disney’s butt they’ll take whatever slop they’re given and if anyone has a problem with Disney, they’ll tear them apart. Disney fans are so elitist and brainwashed thinking they’re super special for having an annual pass. If you don’t agree they will get so nasty. I wasn’t even complaining about Tiana’s cause thats small potatos compared to disabled people getting denied basic accommodations that help them navigate the park safely. Das isn’t a line skip! You wait the same amount as standby outside the line then you go into the lightning lane, so if anything we’re waiting longer. I’m strongly against paving rivers of America because while I have some fond memories with the Liberty bell, I’m mostly concerned about how this will increase the heat and noise in the park. Yknow cause A LOT of disabled people have conditions that are made worse by the heat. Also lots of people need a quieter space to unwind and destress like elders and people with sensory issues. I’m just glad I’m choosing to go to universal instead these days. They’re much more accommodating to disabled people compared to Disney and they still care about art and theming. Funny how by defending Disney and telling every critic to leave, they’re giving more people reasons to go to competing parks like Universal.

@@MonsterKidCory Well no one has had the gull to call me a freak, but they will call me entitled and say if I want equality I should wait in line like everyone else. Like I get some able body people abused the system and that upsets people. Disney could have nipped that by doing what universal does and requiring medical documentation. But no these people will acknowledge I have a disability and STILL say I should wait in line or buy lightning lane. They will tell me “you shouldn’t burden people with your disability” which WOW that is insanely offensive for so many reasons. I’ve tried asking bigger Disney news channels to keep covering the das situation but they don’t care. They don’t want to risk losing the media pass, but also I fear deep down they approve of the changes thinking it’ll benefit them. I hate the people who think Disney sucks solely because it’s woke and DEI, they are super annoying, but they are somehow more respectful to a disabled person like me. I don't believe anything I hear at D23 anymore, to me D23 is "kind of a scam" that now has become a problem for them. They bill it as a "fan event" but it's more just a way to sell tickets to something that's basically a press conference, or like "market research". They make these announcements to see how people react to them, and then a large percentage of this stuff never happens anyway, when people freak out about it online. They didn't even want people filming this parks event, that's how little faith they have in the stuff they're announcing... To me this clash of "people hating it" and this "toxic positivity" just equals that Cars is a "NO GO" at Frontierland, because they'd have to be crazy to go through with it. Tom Sawyer Island is one of these older things that's not ADA compliant, like the Swiss Family Tree House, and The Rivers of America is so full of snakes and alligators, I can understand them "thinking about" how to change that area, but again, they'd have to be crazy to put the Cars thing there after the online reaction to it
