Hey everyone I'm Will and I've been in the Arcade Industry for 20 years. I've spent my time in the industry repairing, designing, building, & restoring Arcade, Pinball, & Gambling Machines. I want to invite you in to see how to to fix these incredibly fun machines. I'll show you how to diagnose, repair, and play various types of arcade, pinball, & gambling machines. Now, lets get to work and start playing some games!
Great video! I recently replaced a flyback on my Tempest arcade machine (WG6100 monitor), along with many of the caps, diodes, and transistors on the high voltage board. But when I turned machine on, I got smoke from apparently the flyback, since no component on the board appears fried. Do you know how to use a multimeter to test the flyback so I can order another one if necessary? Thanks!
Amazing how a lot of this info isn't in the manual or if it is I can't understand it. Also important. DO NOT connect power through the Jamma edge connector AND the 4 pin Molex port on the side AT THE SAME TIME. The board can be ruined (this info is in the manual). Thanks for the vid Will. I WILL be coming back to your instructions once I replace the old Jamma game board with the new Elf 750. I don't have the D, E or F buttons either so have to put them in first. PS AsteriX, not asterick 🙂.
I have one these on a tabletop arcade machine. I believe I have the 750 games one. The games on the machine play absolutely terrible. Buggy, laggy and with serious audio glitches. What can I do to fix this?
how do i use a reader to grab the installer code for home scurity eeprom? they have me locked out of program mode & since im not using it monitored, they wont give it to me
I have an encoded control panel with USBs coming off the panel. I bought a splitter and hooked it into the USB port on the Blue Elf. I get nothing. Joystick dowsnt respond nor do the buttons. Does that mean i did something wrong or does the Elf not support this? Thoughts?
I'd bet this unit keeps it simple and the USB port is not a hub like on a Mac or Windows PC so one controller would be its limit but, happy to be corrected.
Hey Will. Is the monitor display in this video set to portrait? I'm using the same convertor and would like my screen to be portrait instead of landscape, but that's not an adjustment in the monitor's settings. Can that be adjusted using the convertor?
…and much easier to leave the monster in the game and take him apart there. You’ll need stubby nut drivers to get his “shirt” and arms off and the rest of easily accessed.
This is nuts...mine started doing the same exact things last night. My caps look okay, and so do the header pins. Please let me know if this fixes it for you. I have a question about flash lamps. Hope you don't mind if I post it here: In diagnostic, beacon flasher 2R flashes with its group (1 additional playfield and 2 backbox inserts) as it should. Beacons 3R, 6R and 7R flash together independent of all the other flashers. They should each belong to different groups that each include 3playfield and 1 insert. During game-play, 2R flashes as it should, and the other beacons do nothing. I think maybe it was mis-wired at the factory? Thanks for your videos. They've been very helpful!
Which amplifier IC chips can you use to upgrade the sound boards on various amplifiers in pinball games? or what modifications can you do to upgrade the sound quality in various sound boards in pinball games? Think about making a lesson about doing this
hi. so i have a windturbine. it need some new eeproms. is there any way that i can decode the hex and find a funktion for a specific parameter. it one that defines when it needs to lubricate the bladebearing. as a default it is not possible to disable since it is time defined. so in parametere changes i have from 00 to 23. that the clock. in order ti disable it i need to add the option -1 since that would disable the bladebearing. any one who has any idea.
Hi. Thanks for a great video. I have question. I have old cnc machine with bad monitor. Is have 15db video conector. And i gues is cga signal. How to pin out signal cables to wire up to converter? Thanks
I have a 750 in 1 have a problem with it everytime a game is played at game over the screen does not go to browse it stays on the same game that was played how can I adjust to fix this problem
If I remember correctly you have to press the player 1 and 2 buttons at the same time, then a screen asking you if you'd like to leave the game should appear. Do you have the manual for the game?
Very helpful channel, but I have a question. I’m replacing a medium Res monitor with a LCN in a Super Sprint. I have a CGA to VGA converter. The converter has a 5 pin layout and the PCB has a 6 pin adapter. I’ve spliced in 5 of the 6 but it’s reading no signal. I’m assuming all 6 pins need connection for it to read board.?
WILL, look into soldering irons that will "self adjust" the temperature from the pcb temperature so it won't damage or burn the boards. Make a YT lesson about it
Thank you for the suggestion, I'll look into those and try them out. I didn't even know a self adjusting iron was available, I'm very curious about trying one now!
Yes, it takes a little work but you can solder a leg cut from another component like a resistor to the remaining leg of the EPROM and use that as a temporary connection
