Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I hope you all have an amazing Thanksgiving with your Friends and Family!
Hello, I'm Will and in this video I'll show how to adjust & install a BRAND NEW Switching Power Supply into your arcade game. I've done a similar video like this with my Stacker arcade, but that video was showing you how to re-install a PSU back into your game. When you get a brand new PSU they're not always ready to install right out of the box and I show you how to make sure it's adjusted properly so you don't damage your game. I also show you how to install the PSU into your game and how to wire it up properly.
Thanks for watching! Please like & subscribe for more!

I have heard other arcade techs say that switching power supplies can make things worse depending on the arcade game because switching power supplies has switching noises on the +12, +5vdc , etc and also the switching noises will cause the arcade monitors to have a flicker and other display anomaly issues. I'm not sure which arcade games are more sensitive to switching power supplies but you should look more into this.

I've heard this from other techs and I've seen it personally from the games I worked on when I worked in Arcade Rooms. I didn't mention in this video, I should have, but some of the noise for the monitor can be fixed by using a Ferrite Band around the AC Lines. The noise issues with certain game boards could be remedied by possibly using a filter board attachment to the PSU, a game that comes to mind I had this very issue with was my Super Pac Man and I was able to fix the issue with a filter board that attached directly to the PSU. This could help but I can't say for certain it'd help with every game and with the ones it doesn't help then I'd go back to the original Power Supply board the game(s) came with.

@@willsarcadeservice4599 what are these filter boards called and do they sell these filter boards for arcade games PSU it sounds like an RF emi filter board it seems because the switching frequency of the switching power supply somehow gets radiation from the the arcade monitor to bleed into the circuit. The PSU switching frequency of the power supply bleeds in somehow into the arcade monitor. Do you know what type of filter boards they were called or the brand name that you would attach to the PSU for arcade games to prevent this issue with arcade monitors? Fair ride beats would probably help out on the 5 volt line and the 12 volt plus and minus lines and on the arcade monitor they have high voltages going to them so I'm not sure if the RF ferrite beads but able to do high voltage or their special type of a ferrite beads that are on that can handle high voltage

@@waynegram8907 It's been a while since I've used the ferrite bands but i've had success with the higher voltages with them in the past, there are a few different types of ferrite bands and to be honest i haven't had to use them in my personal business but I've used them in the arcades I worked for in the past. When it comes to to the PSU Filter boards I'll have to look back into the ones I used and get back to you but essentially you're right that the boards are more like EFI Filter boards for the lower voltages. I've used them mainly in the Super Pac Man I mentioned before and in one of my Space Invaders I converted a few years ago. With those two games I mentioned I had various issues with them like game board voltage spikes and reset issues within the game board and these boards seemed to fix those issues for me. The monitor issues I've seen when working for arcades in the past were LED monitors and not CRT so that may have a huge impact too that i'm not aware of, but we had a LED monitor flickering after we swapped the PSU out with a Switching PSU but once a ferrite band was added to the AC lines the flickering went away for us. Very well could have been a coincidence that it went away.

May I know where you got the cables for AC/L, AC/N and field ground? Sorry if my question sounds too naive.

I got basic 18 gauge wire from Ebay, there are many good sellers to get it from.
