Mike Radenbaugh built his first ebike in 2007 as a way to get to high school and back, became totally obsessed, and founded Rad Power Bikes. For years he operated as a sole proprietorship, converting traditional bikes into electric bikes for local customers based on each person's individual needs.
Mike always knew ebikes were the future of transportation, and his childhood friend and college roommate Ty Collins thought so too. In 2015, they joined forces to bring Rad Power Bikes to the masses. They relaunched the brand as a direct to consumer business with their first manufactured model -- the RadRover electric fat bike -- and have been on a wild ride of hypergrowth ever since.
Hi, I own a Radwagon 3 (2019) and I need new bearings for the rear hub/motor. Please what size/type/quantity do I require? I believe it’s a Shengyi direct drive brushless motor, possibly a model Dgw09ns. Thanks.
He should have mentioned with these Preload knobs , DO NOT turn them either clockwise or counter clockwise to much because they are cheaply made and only use 2 or 3 tiny pieces of plastic to turn the spring and they WILL brake.
That’s so exciting! 😊🚲 We can't wait for you to join the Rad family! If you have any questions during the assembly, feel free to reach out or check out our videos-happy riding!
Hi! Our accessories were made for our bikes and have been fitted and safety tested for Rad Power Bikes specifically. We wouldn't have knowledge on other ebike brands compatibility. 😁 🚴
Thanks. This was helpful. You might consider extending it to include some common accessories as well, like the rear seating area, front basket, wheel lock, etc.
I've owned a RadRunner since 2021 and it still works amazingly. I have always stored it inside the garage and it still looks brand new. Store it away from the elements and it will last you for a long time.
Thank you for the assembly video for the RadKick. It was very helpful to have the video playing while reading the assembly directions. The only difference for my bike was the front fender. The assembly book and video show the screw and washer coming off the bike, but my screws were in a plastic bag in the accessory box. Other than that the assembly went pretty smooth. Now I need a dry day to test ride and make the comfort adjustments.
The rider can use the throttle with a twist of the throttle grip, to propel the bike forward with or without pedaling. So whether using PAS or not, the throttle will work! 😁
Written instructions with a text list of supplies would be really helpful. I’d like to copy and paste the instructions from a text format instead of having to write them down guys.
I was initially confused as to how to install the two separate shafts of the rear rack, so it was nice of Rad to provide this useless video to complement the totally useless paper instructions. Thanks!

Depending on when your ebike was manufactured you may receive a front wheel with a bolt-on axle. All models come with a quick release skewer to secure the fork protector plate during shipping, IF you have a bolt-on axle this will not be required for assembly. This video will walk you through how to identify what type of axle you have if you are unsure and how to properly install your front wheel. Also if you have a bolt on axle you will need to hold down the button on the battery for 10 seconds to take the battery out of sleep mode. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Fhq7F8Pj2Xs.html
@radpowerelectricbikes, what torque wrench do you recommend. Manual says it needs a range between 0-60 Nm, and I cannot find one with these specifications.
Hi! Yes, the Brooklyn location did close last year, we apologize! Please check all of our Rad Retail locations and Rad Partner locations here: www.radpowerbikes.com/pages/locations 😁 🚴
Hi! Check with your local bus for sizing limitations on their front racks. Full measurements for the RadKick are listed under "Geometry" in the "Specs & Details" section on the RadKick bike page here: www.radpowerbikes.com/collections/radkick-electric-lightweight-bikes/products/radkick-7-speed-electric-lightweight-bike Extra RadKick batteries will be available for purchase, but are currently out of stock. Please sign up for out of stock alerts on the RadKick battery page so you may be notified as soon as those batteries are available for purchase! www.radpowerbikes.com/collections/replacement-parts/products/safe-shield-radkick-battery 😁
Great successor to my Rad Mission. Love the belt drive, suspension, hydraulic breaks, and safer battery. Everything one can ask for entry-level e-bike.
@@RadPowerElectricBikesThanks, I think that’s the perfect ratio to be able to pedal up to 20 mph and comfortably just below that. Adding this bike to my shopping list!
Does the belt drive have enough power to twist throttle up a steep hill if you needed it? 150 pound mother is looking for an e-bike and both of these look like good options for her, but I’d much rather get her the more simple and less maintenance one. But she does have a steep Hill up to her house.
Hi! Ebike performance on hills depends on factors including the weight of rider, steepness of the hill, cargo load on the bike, and more. Always pedal when climbing hilly terrain to avoid straining the motor. A rider must keep the bike moving at a reasonable and steady pace when using high levels of power assistance. Demanding high power output when the bike is moving at slow speeds may strain the motor. Pedaling in a low level of pedal assist (levels 1, 2, or 3) or riding with the twist throttle only partially applied can help keep the bike moving without high power demand. Plan your route to avoid very steep hills (over 15% grade) if possible. 😁
Wow, I may have found the replacement for my tusty Rad City 3. 55lbs? The belt drive is intriguing but my commute has some gnarly hills. I'd stick with the seven speed. What's the range on that new battery?
Hi Heather! The battery on the RadKick gives a range between 15-35 miles on a single charge depending on riding characteristics. It can vary depending on how much pedal assist and throttle is used, amount of weight carried, terrain, hills, and tire inflation. You can increase your range by sticking to a low level of pedal assist (0-2) and minimizing throttle usage. 😁 🚴

Hi! We closed operations in the EU, we apologize! We sell and ship bikes in the US and Canada only currently. The RadKick is only available in the US at this time. Thank you so much for your interest! 🚴
This is a game changer item. I can't believe I've never seen a product like this before. Please let your development team know to expand this series to include a frame hard shell lockbox of various sizes! I'd like a small lock box for essential tools such as mini-pump, patch kit, multi-tool, etc. that can attach to the center bicycle frame.
@RadPowerElectricBikes no really! I need to see that! I have an 84 lb bullie who loves rides and I would love to cart him around! But not if he's not gonna fit!
Hi! The Hollywood Sport Rider Rack is a great option! For the RadWagon5 you would just remove the battery which would reduce the weight to 75.6 lbs from the 86 pounds. You would then be within the 80 pound weight limit per bike on the rack. The wheelbase is 50.7" so is compatible as well. Check it out! www.radpowerbikes.com/products/hollywood-racks-ebike-hitch-rack 😁
