How old is your standing rigging? You should get it inspected, x rayed etc or just replaced if its over 20 years old, insurers want it replaced every ten years.....
I suggest you get better headsail for heavier conditions, a deeply rolled genoa is a pretty useless sail when the going gets tough. Various options out there but probably a removable headstay with a hanked on staysail would work.
I've been watching lots of your vids and really enjoy your enthusiasm. The videos are well made, love the commentary and choice of music. I can't wait for the voyage.
Guys if you can come to nelson nz or havelock south island in the marlborough sounds I'll take you crayfishng set the long line because there is so much to do in the sounds.
Refit and sail should give you come ideas about how to do the work., the work he done kn lotty the contessa 32 is very good guidance. For instance you needed to use a peeler to get back to the fiberglass., it beats the soul killing work of scraping the hull. I am a bit worried about the rudder tube , make sure you give it special attention.
I've been watching RU-vid for four years now, and this video is up there with the best! Well done lads, what you have done, and are doing is awesome. Keep it up, and enjoy. Brilliant!
Great job, guys, super enthusiasm and persistence. Please please please think hard about upgrading your PFDs, aka lifejackets (with AIS); a buoyancy aid just isn't going to cut it. Talking of safety, get a Danbouy and some jack lines installed. Nobody wants to be MoB, but it can happen to anyone. Your mums (and Grandad) will thank you.
Well done, outstanding commitment, hard work and dedication. I wish you the best of luck on your endeavours. Great video and I look forward to the video bulletins of your travels. BTW Nicholson Camper is one of the BEST sea worthy boats IMO, you chose well. Tight lines and fair winds boys! Dan. x
Another enjoyable piece of professional content. Watching u lads grow in experience and confidence is as inspiring as all the past successes you have achieved. Get up
New subscriber here. I noticed you didn’t use a primer before applying the hull paint. I would be interested to see how long the paint lasts. Not being critical, but I’ve got I have to do the same to my boat next year so I’m just interested. I start my RTW solo next year, so I will be watching with interest. Fair winds fellas.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plains?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
As an american I have an instinctual hatred for all things Brittish, but this video made me realize that boys will be boys (or lads) is universal. The sausage and egg looks top!
Absolute Legends! I've just arrived back in the UK two weeks ago from my two-year trip on a Moody376. This brings back fond memories of the start of our adventure and the months of winter renovations in Ipswich getting the boat ready! We took the boat far and wide and eventually sold her in the US after two years non stop travelling and 15,000+ miles. You guys are in for an absolute amazing time, enjoy!
I'm thinking of doing a renovation in Ipswich on a 32 footer what are the hard standing prices like? I'm in north Norfolk and I was thinking about doing it more local but I'd have to step the mast.
