Enjoyed that and admire your tenacity….BUT…very dangerous. If your engine had cut out like on the last voyage…you’d be on those rocks in minutes….and someone would have to come out and rescue you. Prob better doing it in tandem with another boat next time.
Yeah you are right in tandem is better however I do these things at my own risk and experience, I’m glad you were able to look pass the saftey concerns to enjoy the video
Great to see you beating your own OYZ record Alex. The Hydrus looked like it was well up to the job. Have to agree with previous comments regarding safety though. Firstly, doing the crossing in the middle of the night in pitch darkness, where were your lights? It's absolutely vital you're seen by other boats that can appear from nowhere in no time. Secondly at that speed if you'd hit a rogue wave that hurled you MOB, without a kill cord attached (maybe it was attached to your leg??) your Hydrus is then a death trap spinning out of control causing absolute mayhem. Sorry to put a downer on your adventure but please, please get a kill switch fitted or wear it if you have one at all times especially in the conditions you guys are out in and navigation lights are an absolute must if out at night. Rant over. Congrats on the WR. Wheres Norris? Is he still alive? You're too young to know who he is ha ha
Well thanks to you lot I'm now 3k lighter and my friend also, we have both bought new sibs with outboards , im a sailor and im also goung to do a circumnavigation in about 5 years ( sooner if I get my way , wife has set the time line ) . Loving your channel and look forward to your next adventure under sail . Hope we cross paths some time in the future would be great to meet you guys . Fair winds and stay safe .
Great to hear of another intrepid explorer with his eyes on a goal! Your yacht is your house and your SIB is your car, might as well have a good one eh? Keep an eye out for the lads in orange, it’s either us or the local council
So bored of all the sea police wannabes. What damage would that sib have done to anything. We all go to see at our own risk. Loved the never give up spirit and the courage. Great solo effort Alex truly an OYZ ambassador yet again.
Well done lads! Just wanted to say if you plan on using your SIB at night, i highly suggest that you use a red light, so you can see and maintain your nightvision, unlike white light, amazing vid!
I would recommend a life jacket, PLB, water proof clothing and plenty of fuel. 15 miles isn’t too much but could be a rough crossing in the stretch I think you are talking about, best of luck
Aw wow that was so scary lol, congratulations fearless Alex, out there in the night and could easily have smashed into anything 😮. Amazing and well done ❤
Hi I am trying to set this same beast of an engine up on a boat world 330. I am struggling to get the trim right on my own. I would really appreciate some advice. Trim hole and are you using a tiller extension. Thankyou
@@OutsideYourZone bottom trim then Thank-you. I am getting the treffie fountains flying up in the ait on that setting. Did you have a tiller extension?
