As someone who currently lives in auburn washington, i have only one thing to say. STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM HERE, there is so much crimes. there are constant shootings, people getting robbed , harrased. If i were in at a better junction in my life right now, jobless and cant find one, i would be gone.I've lived in a lot of states and cities, and this one is bad. All you have to do is go to youtube and put in auburn, wa crime. You will see a lot of it happening in this area. I am just commenting so someone dosen't move here and regret it. I am from the deep south, and its pretty bad in spots, but here IT'S ALL BAD. thanks
I hesitate to bring up the subject of politics. But the Democrat party has the entire West Coast loacked-up tighter than a frog's ass! And that is what is responsible for the high gasoline prices and the high taxes. The Democrats are for everything I am against, and against everything I am for. At the age of 70, I don't know if I have another cross country move left in me, but if Ferguson becomes the next Governor I will have to leave.

Can you really go without AC in Tacoma? I am from Florida and having a hard time picturing that. 80 degrees isnt comfortable. I mean it's not the 90 plus humidity we experience here, but I can't imagine it being 80 outside and me being comfortable inside.
Just wanted to tell people visiting from out of state 😊 Vason ferry from Tacoma you only pay getting on ferry ( no off Island charge) Vahon is well worth a trip. If you are in ferry line up to toll both you will get on ferry 😊
I been living in Bonney Lake since 1999, yes the traffic has become the pits. Even the back roads are getting heavy. But the neighbors have been great where we live. Everyone looks out for everyone.
Generally, the Eastside is more laid-back than Seattle and a lot safer. when crime happens here, you can rest assured that the criminals are not from the area. they may come from Seattle or South King County.lately, we've been seeing some weird-looking people hanging out in the Eastside, but we dunno if they're there for work or simply hanging out there. I live here but I prefer Seattle.
Thank you for this video. I love the PNW but I've never spent time in Tacoma. I live in Los Angeles and I can tell you with 100% certainty that no other city has traffic even close to what we have here. I would love to be up there with cooler temperatures, fresh air, tons of trees and forests, and I LOVE rain. It's nice to see that Tacoma has so much to offer and it's close to so many cool things. It would be nice to get a personal perspective rather than a general one focused on real estate. There's no way I could afford a house, so all the information about houses and schools.... doesn't mean a thing to me. There have got to be people who don't own homes, right? Thanks again for the walkabout.
You drove right by my house at just before the 9 minute mark. I thought for sure you’d mention that there’s only one way in and one way out once you get passed 120th. I agree about the restaurants in Bonney lake. There’s the normal chain places, Applebees, hops and drops. But not many unique dining places. George’s BLT has been a nice addition and crockets public house opened by the movie theater. Overall I love living in the Bonney lake area. For me it’s very centralized to where I travel to. Hopefully somebody decides to run with the golf course that cascadia intended on building 🤞🏽
I grew up on the beautiful beaches of SoCal, and moved to Seattle to WORK…..lived there 24 (very LONG years). DO NOT tell locals you’re from California! They hate California, and especially L.A. The “Seattle Freeze” is VERY real!! …..I made 2 friends there in 24 years. 🤷🏼♂️. The beaches up there are TERRIBLE! From Alki to Ocean Shores to Anacortes……COLD water, no waves, terrible sand (but I’m VERY spoiled from SoCal). It’s not the rain that’s the problem, it’s the ENDLESS GREY!! Every year I lived up there it felt like someone was adding a heavy brick in a backpack I was wearing….24 years, 24 bricks. And don’t blink or you’ll miss summer!! The drivers are for the most part polite (especially compared to California, Las Vegas, or Phoenix), but they drive SLOW in the fast lane (WHY?!?!😳), they won’t turn right on red where allowed (they’ll just sit there with their blinker on), and they won’t CREEP into the intersection for a left turn, they stay behind the crosswalk (even though no one can cross, it’s red for pedestrians), therefore no one turns left on the light!!! (Infuriating!! …..again, WHY?!?🤷🏼♂️). I absolutely LOVED Vancouver B.C., visited every summer!! Only a 3 hour drive north, what I always found interesting is I hardly knew anyone who’d EVER go up there!! They’d just stay in Seattle!! Very weird!! Finally I retired early, sold my homes, gained my senses, and MOVED BACK to Malibu…….I kiss the ground every morning I get up now!!! …..Life is short. 🤷🏼♂️🤔😎👌

When they denied your child enrollment for 3 full weeks they've broken the law. Should be allowed to enroll and not deny registration on the basis of you getting documents together. Sorry that happened to your child; glad it all worked out. Thanks for the tips.
I was born and raised in Puyallup. Couldn't have asked for a better place to live. Especially in the 80s/90s.. It was safe. It was wholesome. And it was still small but big. I lived it. I've been away for nearly 30 years but I have been thinking of moving back. It definitely has some really good areas to live.
I moved from Austin TX to Tacoma in January 2023 & really love it here. Cozy little 1922 Craftsman bungalow in the 6th Ave district of Central Tacoma. So far the biggest downside has been I eat out too much because there are too many great restaurants within walking distance. I still tend to drive everywhere but I can easily walk to two great bus lines that will take me pretty much anywhere I want to go. To my surprise I have not found the overall cost of living to be much different than Austin. The property taxes on my Texas home, valued almost $100K more, are twice that of my Washington home. The sales, alcohol & gasoline taxes are higher here & registering my car was a shock but utilities, other than solid waste, healthcare, home & auto insurance are less expensive. I do find services to be very expensive, you tend to get less & some companies do not stand behind their work. In general, I have had better luck with smaller businesses than the large ones. By services I mean construction, HVAC, plumbing, electric, landscaping auto rmaintenance & repair etc.. Also vet care & salon services are very expensive - $75 for a basic women's shampoo, cut & style seems very high to me. I spend about the same on groceries, dog food, dog grooming, personal & household items, minus the 2% more in sales tax. The rental income from my Texas house, i income tax breaks & lower property taxes & home insurance in Washington have almost offset my housing expenses. Even my accountant was surprised. Austin has become one of the most expensive areas to live in Texas and averages are just that, it really depends on your situation, especially for housing and if you have small.children, daycare is very expensive here.
I live in kirkkand, and the drive to the airport is a bit, but i wouldn't say bellvue is 15 min faster it really depends were you live in kikland since they border, like myself i live on the south border right of the 405 theres really no differnce. Just like where you live in bellvue. If you live on the eastside along Lake Samamish in bellvue, it can take even longer.
Okay….western Washington is vastly different from central Washington and eastern Washington. He is in Tacoma area I believe . If you can afford to own or rent in western Washington it can be nice but expensive. I would choose Bellingham if I had my pick. Imagine if Subaru , REI and a college town had a baby together….thats Bellingham.
Ummm, eatonville shouldn’t be on there because, for 1 reason it is too far away from tacoma. Imo. I would have put parkland in that spot. Also tukwila is on king county so it really shouldn’t count as a suburb of tacoma. It is a suburb of seattle. I think they could have been more creative on this by making sure that at least the suburb was in the same county, pierce, as tacoma. Otherwise it is not a suburb of tacoma or is a suburb of seattle instead. I also would have never thought of bremerton as a suburb of tacoma because that seems like on the peninsula so more of a suburb of gig harbor. Anyway. I don’t agree on at least 3 of these on the list because they are just too far away from tacoma. People in eatonville for instance are not commuting to tacoma for work. If anything they are commuting to puyallup south hill. In tukwila you are commuting to the airport, seattle, west seattle, kent/renton, but not tacoma. And bremerton again seems more like it’s own thing with people living there and having made a community around the base. So i guess what i am saying is that imo a suburb is a place you would typically commute from to work in the city you are a suburb of. So 3 of the 5 do not work as suburbs of tacoma specifically. Maybe they are suburbs (not so sure about bremerton even being a suburb though), but they cannot be considered suburbs of tacoma specifically.
Austin: Another issue that could go both ways is political and ideological affiliation. I think you dropped a hint about this when you mentioned "Tree Huggers" being reported by Fox News and "even" CNN. Why say "even" CNN..? Are you showing your Leftist colors? The PNW is known to be Blue (Democrat) mainly concentrated in the larger population centers. Correct? While most of the rural areas in the PNW are Red (Conservative GOP), so that could play an important role in deciding where a person or family relocates to.
