You have given me great inspiration for going into the new year for planning! This is very much how I love to plan and envision myself planning especially bc I only teach math and science. At my district we have to submit lesson plans but they are not picky about the format we use and my goal now is to recreate mine like yours! Is there a better way to see yours?

i wanted to do a clam corner in my classroom this is my first year teaching and some of the coworkers say that the children will take advantage of a calm corner and i wanted to use it as more of an isolation thing. but have motivational stuff in the corner. any advice do you feel it becomes a distraction
Good luck in your first year, that’s so exciting!! I feel like as long as you set the expectations of your calm down corner clearly then it doesn’t become as much of a distraction issue. I found that my kiddos preferred to work there when allowed but if it became too much of a distraction I would have them head back to their desks and try again another time. I do love how it gave a warm and peaceful feeling to the room though and I think my students felt that too!!

Sorry just being honest and saying the truth, but best of luck to you. Most will quit within the first 5 years. Nowadays even less then that. The burnout is real.

Hi!! So excited for you as you enter your first year of teaching, you’re going to do great! I would suggest checking out my classroom tour video to see the various types of furniture and storage I utilized in my classroom this past year. My personal must-haves would be my 10-drawer rolling cart for my lesson plans and other files/grading, my teacher toolbox, and smaller tubs to hold items students can have access to like pencils, markers, scissors, etc. I would also recommend talking to your principal/school to see what type of furniture they provide such as bookshelves, round tables, desks, chairs, etc. to see what you may already have! @@amberallaboutlearning Thanks! I will check out your classroom tour video. The school is refinishing all the floors, so when I saw my room, all the furniture was stacked in the hallway, lol. It will be done after the 4th and I will be able to get a better idea of what I have.
