I'm Mark Leiffer and I run this whole show. I'm an auto racing and gaming content creator, "walking history book," and frequently an accidental Nostradamus.
You clearly drive better than I do, but I do remember one tuning trick. The limit on oil temperature is 220. If you're not riding the edge of it, more tape.
I do like how EA kept the Nazareth Speedway in the games that followed from 06-09 albeit as a Fantasy Track, but still cool to still include the now abandoned track in those games. If Wilksboro can return, then Nazareth can return, it would be really cool to see the Cup Series race there for the first time.
This is fantastic! I just bought this at a second hand game store and dusted off my PS2. I was never a great gamer and just got into NASCAR but I find this game so difficult (on easy mode!) Any tips for the driving?
The biggest things that I focus on are smooth inputs, and I know that's a difficult thing to really get the feel of especially with a controller. But with time you'll get the feeling down. Steering smoothly with an analog stick is what took me the longest time to really get.
Its great how you describe the track and how you have to drive it there at the beginning. Would love to see a full video on driving in these games or different tracks.
I wonder why a sequel wasn’t made? Mind you, this game came out in 2002, so this was before EA got the exclusive rights, because NR2003 came out the same year that NASCAR Thunder 2004 came out in 2003.
17:15 lol at the spotter telling you to “hold your line” while you’re getting squished by a car on each side, as if you had any options other than to hold your line.

I bought build and race through the scholastic catalogue in early 2011. I think that’s all you need to know about it. Thank you for giving me a twinge of nostalgia by reminding me of this lukewarm kiosk sandwich of a game.
I remember when getting the game on PlayStation when it came out. The only game I got on day 1 where there was 2 patches in the first 48 hours of release.
I played this game so young I seriously didn't know how to start a race... My dad set it up and left for work and I was just too stupid to press X on "start race" so I gave up and watched Monday night Raw with my grandparents. But my GP is the entire reason I love pro WRASLIN not wrestling WRASLIN is because of them so it all worked out. I still got my white trash entertainment and I love pro WRASLIN to this day. Impact NJPW AEW WWE IDC just do cool or funny shit in the ring I'm a fan... Jarrett vs Hardy Texas chainsaw match is still my absolute favorite of all time just for how stupid it is. GWFL
This was the first NASCAR game I played on the PS2. I always thought the way Jeff Gordon says “I love the short tracks” was weird. Besides that challenge I spent most of my time playing Fight to the Top and becoming rivals with everyone lol
Welcome back man. Hopefully this is a sign that your ordeal is over or almost over. Can't imagine the stress. For the video: I think EA messed up with Michael lol.
