I've only ever been involved with the Melee scene, but from the few times I saw interviews and "Melee player plays against Ultimate pros" type videos, MKLeo is by far the competitor I respect the most of all the newer titles. The way he communicates and interacts with others seems much more mature and respectful than other Ultimate pro players I've seen.
@@Thesmashconnoisseur I've been looking for this song forever I always hear it in Smash content and originally assumed it words from Ultimate because of how much I heard it in Smash streams, I always thought it was a Persona song Thank you so much
I think its more so he started focusing more on life outside of smash. He said pretty bluntly on twitter the game doesn't mean as much to him as it once did. I think it also doesn't help that while some players really focused on their solo mains and figuring out how to win bad match ups/adapting, Leo instead focused on counter picks which I think hurt his creativity with his characters, also players started to learn his tendencies. I think thats why some players like Sonixs or Riddles dominated him these days, they have learned his tendencies and Leo probably is too focused on other things to really grind the game the way he once did.
That could be but then I don’t know why he would even attend the event because the flight and hotels costs money and normally people do that so they can win and makes more money but if he’s placing low then he is actively losing money
I think Leo’s loss at Glitch should’ve been talked about a bit more. ESAM is no slouch, but the idea that Leo could lose to anyone besides a Top 5 player continued to grow after that. That’s when I feel the “cracks in the armor” started to show.
@@Atomicwaffle50 ESAM beat Leo back at GOML 2019 which is valid but still before the LEGEND of Leo emerged. The next win was at Summit2 which I consider valid, but not everyone does bc it’s an invitational and the format and environments are different. The 3rd win was online and no one took online seriously. Post covid, ESAM double eliminated Leo and during the “is Leo washed after Covid” debate. It felt like Leo was actually slipping when ESAM went 6-2 against him at Glitch.
As a melee player who was there when ult launched, the meta of how the game is played is soooo much more refined and interesting now than it was then, but there was an excitement about early ult that can't really be replaced. Everyone's neutral game isnt as smooth brained anymore lol
2024 meta isn't that bad honestly. There has been a rise in a lot of mid-tier and even a few low tiers in tournament. And while top 8 in big tournaments are usually the same faces there still are some interesting picks and in smaller tournament there have been a lot more mid-tier characters winning or getting high placements. i think that ultimate by far has the highest character diversity. Oh and not gonna lie Steve is cool and we all have to stop denying that. He's cheese but cool.
joker is sick! I don't know why you act like people's careeers were ruined by zero suit though. I didn't even know that people could make a decent living playing smash anyway, but if they were making a decent living playing smash, losing to zss probably didn't change that (correct me if I'm wrong tho) Nice vid!
I hate steve okay ? But, Steve doesn't have to be banned, we doesn't have to ban character, even if it's broken, high pick etc. I think, the meta is going to change again. Oh in the EU, the meta is goated
