It's so cool seeing more people get into this amazing sport. I taught myself, which I don't recommend to anyone as it took me much longer to become a professional that way and I took too many risks to get good. Now I fly a 9m at 200lbs and push that wing to the absolute max, looking to get an 8 then a 6. But get training everyone!
@lyubomirhristov6326 again it's your personal choice. I've been flying for 13 years and saved my legs countless times. So far no unexpected rocks (however I've never been lazy to walk every landing before flying).
Like it....but it puts a bit more wear on the bottom of your harness. If I would do this frequently, I would build some kind of strap on cover to protect the harness. Maybe even give it a bit of padding just in case of rocks or other things that are hidden from view.
Hi, I'm a beginner pilot that started ridge soaring after 3/4 flights, a couple of months ago. I'm still a bit unexperienced in some manouvers like wing overs and aggressive turns, because I tend to be very cautious due to fear of heights. I really want to start speedflying even though where I live (Sardinia) these kinds of flights would be fairly short. I have my landing flare dialed in properly. Do you think I could look at this wing to get into it without any unnecessary risks?
Have these people flown full size wings before? Body position on some of these launches looks like this is their first time ever flying. Going straight to a speed wing is bold.
@@iambarrettferguson all our students have paragliding or skydiving experience. But from my experience it is not so important. We are using it to filter crazy guys and people who are not made for extreme sports.
@ProSpeedflying Thanks for the insight. I plan to drop sizes down to a mini wing this year, but gaining the fundamentals on the full size has been size. Where is your school based out of?
@@iambarrettferguson we live and teach mostly in France. But we also have beginner courses in Montenegro in September Check prospeedflying.com for more info
maybe respect the decision so other sites dont follow suit... for every door that closes, another opens.. Maybe take the initiative to start a new site somewhere else that is suitable for everyone, not just paragliders..
@@andrewlapensee there are a lot of different holes in this restriction. But first of all in France speedflying is paragliding. There is no separate sport. So if paragliding is allowed - speedflying is allowed too.
@@ProSpeedflyingmaybe its the p1-4 being separate from s1-4 as it is an emerging rating for insurance & training certification, maybe the land owners, and/or governing bodies/regulatory agencies, have decided to separate them into 2 categories.
so it may be best to respect the decision and wait to see if they "reopen" and only allow those with s1-4 ratings to continue the use of speedwings on the mountain for liability and insurance.
@@ProSpeedflying Looks like no adjustments on leg strap, what is the loop length of the leg strap (measured from carabiner). Weight and price also needed. Thanks :)
@@speedman1974 price is 450euros (shipping in EU included). The leg loop length is ~104 cm on L size. The weight with carabiners is ~800 grams. No adjustments on the leg straps on any speedflying harness that I know.
My friend, I'm from Brazil but my biggest dream is to live in a country that has I imagine and I've seen several videos of Kate with Esnolbord speed flying with I thought it was incredible, I've never seen snow, it must be very good
Hi Alex, nice review! Can you say if the Arc10 have better glide ratio then the Spitfire2 9.5? (when fly both with closed trimmers) Has the Arc also short lines like the Spitfire? Thanks!
Hello! Arc 10 will have significantly more glide than Spitfire 2 9.5. Also the real size of the Spit is more like 8.5-8.8m² compared to the wings of other brands. So I would say if you go from spit2 9.5 to Arc8 it will be just around ~0.6m² downsize (and still you will have more glide with arc8).
Thank you for your reviews of both the DF and the F4! I had the DF18 as my first wing, I’m on the DF16 now, and I’m downsizing to either a 14F4 or 14DF next. These videos are the super helpful in helping me decide 🙏 By the way, would you say the Fazer 4 14M glide is considerably worse then dragonfly 14M? Or is the difference marginal
Great stuff here, learned a few tips on the "French" launch, which I picked up in Chamonix over 10 years ago. I would like to add a technique for high-wind launches. I teach in the high Colorado mountains, and we get STRONG winds here, usually stronger than what most Euros would fly in. No hands in toggles for starters, get your wing ready to throw out UPSIDE- DOWN, right from the beginning, toss it uphill and downwind, letting it pop out nose down, it won't (can't) go anywhere. Your hands will be completely free, so now, you have time to check your harness, wing, lines, start the GoPro, pull your goggles down, stash your stuff sack, whatever. The brake toggles will be sitting right on top waiting for you to go. Skis across the hill and into any x-wind, then you just pull up one corner of the wing in what is basically an upside-down cobra. Do NOT pull the wing completely upright, but into a traction skiing position with wing-tip on it's side, and let the wing pull you ACROSS the hill. Once you pick up some speed, you start turning your SKIS down the hill, while gradually letting the wing cross over your head, by pulling a bit of brake towards your turn. This works in VERY strong winds, but most be practiced on flat ground without skis to get comfy with it. Demonstrated in the first minute or so of this video at Valfrejus. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PKzE2_NQQrE.html
@@JANI137- Since I fly in both US and Alps for 25 years now, can factually say that it's windier in the US. In fact, most US pilots struggle flying in Europe because we almost never have to do no-wind-forward launches.
@@ProSpeedflying - I'll be in Valfrejus in a week or so, and need to make a full video from de-bagging to launch of this method, for now, all I have is this from a few days ago. Ridgeline in Colorado, blowing 20K (35kph) or so, plus gusty. Doesn't show set-up, but does show pulling up from upside-down and transition to wingtip on side, to turning around. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0vmXk1HrdKU.html
Hello, great video as usual. What size Ozone Dragonfly wing (16M or 18M) would you recommend for a 78kg beginner with 5,000+ skydives and only 4 flights into my P2 paragliding rating. I'd like to get my own gear and take a 10 day beginner course. Thank you for the advice.
