She's right because it's difficult to sing a song that was big 2 years ago. Also, there was a time when, a song was so big that a remix was done to keep it going with as far as possible and keep it in the charts. That time is long gone.
Even with that being true, what you call albums now, even going beyond the pop charts, is a lower quality of what albums used to be. It's not just in one genre, but it's across the board.

You can make a good album, every year and it won't get anywhere because the music industry only care about what draws the most attention rather than. Quality.

That's in the spotlight or out of the spotlight. If you have a fantastic album that's come out recently or in the last 20 years, please tell me who they are???

I don't agree with you on your statement about there being fantastic pop artists like it was in the 80's & going even further back in time. For example,in the 80's, we had (Hall & Oats). In the 90's we had (The Backstreet Boys). The Backstreet Boys catered to an age democratic of, teenage girls. Hall & Oats catered to anyone who liked their music along with many others. Again, give me at least one artist or album that you think is fantastic that's come out over the last 24 years? If you were to ask me the same question about my time period, I would respond without hesitation. What you got? 😃
