What I notice is that most people in the street stock do not use the brake, on both asphalt and dirt. They're abusing the right front and then trying to find the grip mid corner and either parking or spinning on the exit. A little drag helps get the car rotated in and gets the right rear a little more involved which seems to be faster over the race distance, it definitely has made me more consistent. On dirt it responds well to a full application and barely needs any wheel to get into a tight slide and it's much easier to find the balance when feeding the power back in. Learning how to steer with your feet makes navigating traffic much more intuitive rather than trying to whip the wheel and probably lose more time than was necessary

Saying that this car is a flop when there's 6000 people who have raced it in one season is crazy. Changing the format of the races or entry level would be dumb. Even with changes it's still not going to be the most popular. Here's some reasons why it's not the most popular asphalt car. 1. It has to compete with C Fixed, the most popular series on oval, in the same license class. Moving it to B class wouldn't really change anything and it'll just lessen the amount of possible drivers. 2. The car isn't run IRL anymore. People would rather run the series with current day cars than a throwback series. Historical series normally don't get as much people as modern series. 3. The car is hard to drive. Most people would choose the easier car to drive at one given track. 4. The car bodies still don't handle contact very well since the bumpers don't line up. This is a turnoff at plate tracks and makes 1 mile and shorter tracks a nightmare to try and drive.
Great points but I believe if handled correctly the Gen4 car could have 20k participants per season. I believe the car is so good (and will be even better with future scans) that it should be the most popular car in oval. Thank you for watching!!

Personally I split my time on iRacing between Gen 4 Cup and Nascar legends. Those cars and races have the best driving dynamic and fun factor out of anything iRacing has to offer. Each are an absolute handful but there’s no comparing the two as they’re genuinely totally different animals! That being said the most common trend I see is simply people that don’t practice what so ever before jumping into a race and for the life of me I don’t understand why especially with how good ai setups are! I genuinely believe if folks would get it through their head to practice for at least an hour or if iRacing would buck up and mandate you have to practice or time trail before a race both these series would skyrocket again as they would be less likely to be a wreck fest as well as more competitive. Not saying it isn’t a problem across all of iRacing but these two serious are the most notorious.
Agreed, Gen4 is a crap shoot even in top split. Sometimes there are long green flag runs and other times it turns into iPacing. That's probably why. Both are tough cars to just jump into and expect to be competitive without practicing the track.
This might be a big ask but I think the gen 4 car would excel if they made it a B-A license class series and had it follow a race schedule from the 90s-00s as an era series, plenty of people love the 87s and the nostalgia associated with those cars. Many of us on the oval side of iracing grew up watching the gen 4 car and have a lot of love for it. I personally don’t run the gen 4 outside of the supers and mile and a half races because the barrier for entry is to low at C class. I’m not trying to say I’m the second coming of Dale Sr. But I don’t like running with guys that are still struggling with throttle control…
make it a open series and let setup shops flood the market. Cautions and longer races are not a factor if you look at the cup and B series. It comes down to the lower class level having too many options, or the saturation of popularity in the top 3 tiers of championship racing.
You might be onto something, but even B fixed which is closes in popularity is still at 10k participants. ARCA is 30% more popular and the car isn't as fun or exciting at the Gen4. Maybe if Gen4 was Class A and highly sought after then it would become more popular. I think you are right about there being too many options in the lower license classes.
Love practicing gen 4, I struggle committing to putting the time/effort into actually figuring a track out and then racing in a given week. But it’s one of my favorite cars to just run laps with or run a quick ai race if I’m short on time
Most guys struggle with a heavy right foot in the Arca cars. Gen4 are a blast but they actually require finess with the throttle and some race craft and strategy helps I think this scares most off. Top split gen4 races are where some of the true fast oval buys live.
It’s definitely a tougher car to tame. I think it’s a lot people’s favorite car (like me) but just don’t have the time. The strategy it’s current race format offers is fun but it’s too long for a lot of people to waiting around for that race to start. For instance, it’s 10:23am right now and I want to run Gen 4. I won’t be able to make the 10:30am race so now I’ve got to wait 2 hours just to start the race plus the race is then an hour long. It’s simply too much time for most people. If Gen4 was class D it would be so popular it would render ARCA obsolete IMO
Welp in my humble opinion you did what you had to do and the old boy got rode like a balony pony in the process but it could have easily went in his favor. My conclusion is absolutely 110% just hard racin on both you guys nothing else.
Yeah I agree after watching this one. Like I said, I should have given him another foot but I also thought he would be running the high line like he had been for the most part. Really want the SR at 4.99
Damn not sure about the 13 but it takes balls to put yourself out there and you never know what it’s gonna be. I was thinking about trying it but it would probably fall in the comedy category lollll my mouth and brain aren’t always on the same page and my old lady says I need a resticter plate for my mouth lolll alrighty I’m fixin to watch part 2 an see you lap the field. Well Crap but you did pretty good that car is kinda strange it’s hard to spin but I practiced there it’s probably my best track and a favorite but it was slick as glass and iracing slick is basically your just gone not much sideways catch it. I almost wish I get dumped every race cause after that I can drive the wheels off it. And for whatever reason iracing brings out emotions I never knew I had lol I’m usally calm cool patient hard to rattle but here if someone does me omg it’s Crazy Train meets Dirty Harry pissed level lol not tantrums like some of these bozos but..if I could physically grab them at that moment ohhhhh baby (depending on intent of course) I do like to run them down and absolutely worry the shit outta them gnawing on there back bumper like Dale Sr. and Jaws combined 😂 until then I’ll continue to wander aimlessly through iracing like a dart without feathers until eventually finding my groove ✌️
Yeah the racecraft can be lacking sometimes but I take responsibility for my the brakes, once i adjusted the balance i could drive it in a bit deeper (49%)
Great content and I watch a lot of others. But you Justin and Kneebon are my top three for the best ones. I agree about being horified but no matter what I do my irating is like a Yo Yo lol. Another guys videos that are very very helpful is Shildhouse. Keep Rockin Thanks
Wow that is high praise. Thank you for watching!!! Yeah growing or maintaining the irating with these on the schedule is daunting lol. I just try practicing on Sunday night for an hour or two but obviously this week that did not help much lmao
@@SimRacing.Junkie Welp I made the mistake of racing there yesterday was doing fine went to let some boob by on the inside plenty of room an he spins me out like he aimed at me. Next thing I know I get two black flags and dq for not paying attention to one of them OMG OMG I WAS LIVID never been dq before and I’m positive 100% I did my time for black flags. Only thing I can think is i served penalty’s to quick because I pitted immediately as soon as I came out I went back in to get it over with. But they blew that one I’m sure. Lost 56ir an .17sr. Not going back there anytime soon let’s say 😂
Thanks Dillon. Yes as you guessed I had no intention of trying to get by that late in the race. I was cruising to the end since I was laps down from the incident where the lapped car took out about 5 of us.
It definitely can. It depends on the car/track combo but in almost all Gen 4 and ARCA races you can save tires and get faster using a trail brake, places like Michigan and Auto Club are great examples. The fastest drivers use trail brake at tracks like those.

Yeah, this was for a fixed set up race last year. I want to make more Gen 4 content in the future. My favorite series, just wish they had a shorter, no cautions, series too like ARCA
8:1 helps me save the car much easier and gives me more feel. Tires were 75/77 at the end of the race so it helps me save tires and use them evenly. Steering ratio is a personal preference though, nothing wrong with running a higher ratio if it gives you the feel and results you are looking for. Use what is most comfortable to you but don't be afraid to try different settings
That’ll work that’s my natural line I guess, it’s the only thing that works for me not sure why but it’s like that’s where the car wants to go. I know it sounds crazy but sometimes I just kinda flow with it and it works out. Thanks 👍
I just ran the 8:45pmEST race and the bottom worked really well. Mid entry helped with corner exit angle at both ends of the track. If you trail brake down to the apron, you can save tires and keep a ton of speed. 75/77 for tires at the end.
Decent run man, definitely alot cleaner race than the 2 I've race today, I wonder how some of those guys even got their real drivers license 😂 I subbed also 👍🏼
Thank you! lol yeah in this one I got close to getting pinched into the wall and it meatballing both of us. Think it was lap 3-6. Really like this track but its a crapshoot on the race craft every time. Reminds me of Dover a bit with more bumps
Nice run! Yeah, I can't believe the #6 thought you should just yield the position because he burned up a whole heap of tire to catch you. It's not like you were both running 2 wide for 3 laps or anything either . . .
Yoo bro thank you this was very helpful as im only able to turn .8s and .9s from the low line this will help alot with qualifying. Could you do some tips for short tracks on getting the fastest times? Im struggling with southern boston in the late model stock class. I cant get below 14.9s but see others as low as 14.6s-7s. Cant go any faster with wrecking, need help lol.
Dude…that video is excellent, but please don’t block all of the view with black background behind text. White text, a tad smaller, in 2 lines if necessary on the bottom would be far better. Excited to see if I can improve my pace next time on track! Qualified .6 and .7 so far using the bottom and the very top 😂

@@SimRacing.Junkie No problem! I was actually watching on my phone and it was far too big. So turns out I did .7 and .8 before and now a .4. So thanks, it did help! One suggestion for your race videos: would be nice to see the tyres at the end. I’m always looking for that information to get a reference for my own races.
Keep practicing! Focus on being smooth with your inputs (especially when getting back on throttle) and the car will not snap loose on you as much. Also, on bigger tracks try running slightly higher lines, it requires you to turn the wheel less so the car can feel a bit tighter then beware of burning up the RF. Always hit me with questions if something comes up!
