You know, I'd bet that making a game mod-friendly would also help make it easier to develop in the first place. The modularity that helps modding could also provide ways of working on parts of the game without disturbing others. Hell, the upcoming Factorio expansion implements significant chunks of what will be included using the existing modding system. Not to mention that Factorio itself was directly inspired by some of the Minecraft industrial mods.
Destiny's lore is so deep and enjoyable, but its mostly conveyed through the lore books in game, byf made a cool 10 Hour long vid of the entire lore tho :3
From personal experience, I can tell you that making terraria into a completely different game would be nearly impossible with t-mod, its amazing for what everyone uses it for, the documentation for it is better than the documentation for c#.
