Served a four years (2004-2008) sentence in Red Jacket. Rooms looked exactly the same, but there was no bathroom code. Still preferred the Governor dining hall.
Great tour! I lived in several quads during my UB days. Aside from a couple cosmetic upgrades, the furniture and all is the same as when I graduated in 2000!
hey I'm coming to ub this fall I'm an international student other than the proof of fund to get the i20 and visa do i have to pay some of the cost before arriving on campus or i can pay by the payment plan I choose and like how flexible are they can the cost be divided monthly or to 6 times .And how can I use my scholarship like is it automatically reducing the total cost or do i get to choose when to pay with it honestly I'm worried because I can pay the cost once our spare apartement is sold it could take to like nov for money to be ready I hope I don't have to pay as soon as i get on campus because that would be overwhelming move in from another country new culture and i have to get a credit card it's lot of word for iinternational student.Sorry for the long questions i'll be happy if u would reply thnx for the vid so helpful🥰

Yes! Freshmen are allowed to have cars on campus, there are designated parking lots for students. You just have to apply for a parking pass which are also free to undergraduate students.
Hi! Technically in accordance with housing guidelines, you’re not allowed because it’s considered a fire hazard. However, what was normally done was that people put them up anyway but when it was time for room checks they would take them down. Prior to RAs doing checks you will be alerted so you’d know when to take it down.
Hey, thank you for this video, it was very helpful! I'll be coming in the fall as a CS major. I was wondering how the delivery system works. How are we able to have a package delivered to us(from amazon or some other website), what address do we put in, and where do we go to receive it? And what time do the gyms open? (‐^▽^‐)
Yes! In dorms, kitchens are common areas which are often attached to a study lounge. In the kitchen there is a stove, oven, sink, microwave and sometimes a storage closet. With storage closets there is a passcode in which residents of that floor/ building (depending on building you're in) can store kitchen items instead of having it in their rooms where they might not have enough space.
@@johnsmith7140 First of all, like*. And also, they protested the ideologies of a man who chose to belittle and speak against the true realities of Black people in America because he himself has not experienced it.
Hi! Great video, it was very helpful! I have a question, Is UB lgbtq friendly? I'm a girl who likes girls and I'm worried about being one of the only ones. I'm not too worried about people not being accepting bc I honestly don't care, I'm just wondering if there is a decent amount of other students like me?... Again, great video!! I hope you have a great day🙂
Hi! UB is very LGBTQ+ friendly! There are a bunch of different resources and clubs for members of the community and allies. Every year we also have Pride Week full of events hosted by the Intercultural and Diversity Center. Coming on campus I promise you that you won’t be the only one and it is entirely a safe space for you and others! If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out and have a great day!
Also, I was wondering: What is the city of buffalo like? Is it easy to get around, is there a lot to do, are there a lot of ppl, how do you like living there? Oh and what is the art scene like there? Sorry that was a lot of questions haha.
Hey! I’m going to UB this fall and I’m also gonna be a psych major. How did you sign up for your classes for the first time? Is the workload a lot? Is there a career center that helps students? How large are your classes? How is public transportation? Sorry for all the questions. Thank you so much for making this video 😭.
Hi! For my first semester, my advisor signed me up for classes as they usually do for upcoming freshmen. After that, you’re able to choose your classes based on the requirements you need to fulfill and the courses that are available. The workload for psychology is totally manageable as long as you stay on top of the work. It can get away from you quickly if you get distracted for a long time, but there’s time for a social life definitely. UB does have a career center available for all students. Depending on what class you’re taking, it’s a large class. 100 to 300 Level classes are typically larger lectures with upwards of 150 students. UB has its own shuttle system around North Campus, between Campuses and to select stores/ malls nearby. The schedule and tracker is available via the UB mobile app. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask!
Hi! Quads with baths are typically on North Campus and are more generally more spacious than the one shown here. In the room in the video, its typically used for double w/ double or triple w/ double + bath inbetween the rooms.
I am not very knowledgeable on the academics for the graduate programs at UB however I am aware that there are several options for graduate school. Academics at UB whether it’s undergraduate or graduate are typically quite demanding and require a lot of focus. Reaching out to the School of Management Office inquiring about the program curriculum or looking at the program curriculum for your desired degree will help a lot.
Black Lives Matter, I said what I said. People saying BLM doesn't equate to all lives not mattering. If you think that, then you're part of the problem!
@@soyhaven1073What problem? BLM leaders are buying multi million dollar homes in White neighborhoods. They used you for personal gain. They have done nothing for the Black community.
@@airforceretired5094 Saying BLM is not referencing the organization of which I am aware has not done enough for the community. BLM means that the lives of Black people matter and they should not be treated in the manner of which they’re treated in America. They should not be seen as less than of White Americans or another races, they should be equal!
Sorry for such a last response! During my first semester, I wish that actually went out and went to parties and stuff. I’m honestly not much of a partier but having those experiences would have been nice. As you get through the years, the academic work becomes more challenging and it’s harder to find the time to go out. Also! I wish that I took note of more opportunities career wise/ interning wise that was available to me. Take advantage of all the services they have even if they don’t necessarily pertain to you, they might help a friend you have that doesn’t attend UB. Take your moneys worth of information & experiences!
hey!!! i just got accepted to UB for the spring 2022 semester! i was wondering if we can switch to the fall semester after you’ve already been accepted? respond soon 🥰
Hi! Congratulations on your acceptance 🎉 As you’ve gotten accepted for Spring 2022, I believe that you can defer for a semester and register to start Fall 2022.
@@riddhigupta5155 Deferring just means that you’re postponing your acceptance not that you’re rejecting it. You can talk to the office of admissions to plan it accordingly.
UB is honestly a great school. The dorms are usually clean but there are honestly occasionally issues with ants that I have heard of. It really depends on which dorm you are at. The beds are okay to sleep on but no matter what I always tell people to buy a foam mattress pad for extra comfort!
@@soyhaven1073 thank you so much for your response I really wanted to know because I might be going to UB for college for my second semester in January
Hey I'm planning on going to ub but I'm scared of how big classes can be since it's such a big university I was wondering are all classes very big or some?
Hi! For your first year, your classes sizes are going to be big for general subjects that everyone has to take. If you do end up in a large class, I do recommend using office hours for your professors and your ta’s (teaching assistants) in order to learn the material more intimately. As you get through the required courses for your major, they tend to get smaller and smaller.
Hi! I would say that you should really pack what you really need. Your first year can get quite overwhelming so get yourself in a rhythm as quick as you can. Make sure you find things on campus to do for enjoyment, there’s plenty of opportunities. People at UB can be tricky & messy, so be wary but be social. Oh and perfect your study habits from now so it’ll be easier when you start.
Hello i am 2022 SAT aspirant. I got a lot of doubt regarding english section. My math test scores are in between 750-800 but english stucks at 450-500..... i am an international non english speaker. I tried alot of things to improve my english marks (i didn't start my SAT prep yet) but failed. I started with books but failed to understand the conclusion and even in khan academy vdos...... like i understand questions and the passages but can't understand the explainations....... can you give some tips? I would be really helpful if you give some tips on how to start from basic..... thank you very much. I am aiming for BU. I got 84% in 10th and 77% in 12th. Will i get full scholarship too? Not only in BU but other universities????
Hi! In order to practice your English, I would suggest watching shows & listening to music in English so that you get a lot of practice. When you hear the shows or the music, continuously repeat what they’re saying. With Khanacademy I would suggest using it to learn about sentence structure and the rules of writing. To practice understand passages, I would also suggest annotating everything you’re reading because that helps understanding the underlying meanings of passages.
Hi! You can apply for a single dorm however it’s not guaranteed that you’ll get it. Single dorms are also more expensive. But yes you can live in a dorm by yourself.
Yes you can but with limitations. I suggest using command strips or if you use push pins you have to cover the holes at the end of the year so you don’t get charged for destruction of property (plaster or toothpaste usually works). The limitations are because usual dorm rules state that you can’t cover more than 10% of your wall because it’s a ‘fire hazard’. What people usually do is that they put them up but when the dorm checks happen (they email you in advance) they take them down.
I was the very first person to live in my freshman and sophomore dorm rooms at Governor's Residence and Ellicott Complex. And I can tell you that it was a LONG time ago! My freshman year was 1973, when the Amherst Campus was basically a mud pit.
Fitting into a PWI described school seems to be almost everyone’s top concern, but I’m positive that you’ll fit in fine. The black community really & honestly sticks together and we’re all over campus. There are also clubs like CSA, BSU & ASA that you can join to find more people that you can click with. Stop by any CSA events & I’ll be there! UB is a difficult school academically but socially? Yeah I like it here!
My very first dorm tour video at UB is the South Campus/ Main Street dorms. The video should still be accurate as no construction has been done. The rooms look exactly the same all the way around, with a couple of adjustments depending on which side you live on. Clement Hall rooms and Goodyear Hall rooms look the same with Goodyear just looking a bit darker.
Hi! I unfortunately don’t currently have any access to those rooms, however in the future if I do happen to have access to those dorms I will be sure to take a video. Sorry about that!
Hey is it weird for an upcoming freshman to be dorming at Fargo? I know some other freshman at Fargo but I heard it’s mostly upperclassmen so I was wondering if there’s barely gonna be any freshman living at Fargo or even Red Jacket
It is not weird at all for incoming freshmen to be dorming in Fargo. It occasionally happens that freshmen don’t typically live where they usually do. For example, Goodyear Hall was an upperclassmen dorm during my freshman year but I knew a bunch of freshmen that lived in there.
Yes you’re allowed to get any type of mail. Once assigned a dorm room they’ll send you your official address. All the mail you get sent first gets processed by the mail room which is easily accessible for all. Please note that even though it might have been delivered it takes a day or two to be processed by the mailroom to be available to you. When it’s ready for you, you’ll get an email saying you have a package & it’s ready for you. In terms of like letters, you’re assigned a mailbox and given the key so you can access it anytime you want
