When England was England before our cultural diverse enrichment.

Designed by an “architect “ who insisted that the pool should be in feet and inches, rather than metric so it couldn’t be used for major competitions. No idea on ventilation, heating and avoiding the buildup of condensation. The cost of heating and general maintenance was astronomical.

I know things change with time. But how crap does South Road look compared to the original photos. So much character and charm has been lost to time

Hello, what was the source for the photo of the ladies crossing on the zebra in Walton vale please? I’d like a clear copy of this as my mum is on it. The lady with the pale beret on the right by Timpsons. I have a copy I took from another site buts it’s not as clear as yours. Regards.

Does anyone else remember the chip machine in the late 60s/early 70s? It was always breaking as I remember but when it did work there was always a crowd round it to watch it make chips! Simpler times! Though I'm beginning to think I imagined it

so sad to see it knocked down it was a real bit of architecture and enjoyed going there in the 1970s ,10 meter board for the brave, 50 meter pool and the only downside was it was actually a saltwater pool and stung your eyes a bit
