My parents were children during WWII and lived near Reigate and it seemed like this place was fairly well known and often referred to along the lines of "Monty's HQ" (whether it was or wasn't). Hardly felt like it was a well kept secret, careless talk etc. It would be approximately pointed out as we went down Reigate Hill by car. I didn't know that so much of the place still existed and thought that it had been infilled as well as the entrances blocked.
Also that little bit where you shouted oioi buttercup that was used for lighting the adjoining rooms... Also your mrs shitted you rite up at the end 😂😂😂😂💙
Hi Ray, that was fascinating, what a waste of good facilities. Please stop looking inside the toilets, it only makes you feel sick, we don't want a repeat of 'the vomit house'.
Hi Ray, this was an awesome video.. .it's always a pleasure watching your adventures. Look forward to viewing the next video Debbi from Western Australia 🇦🇺 👍😁
Hi Debbi, Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed the video. Your support means a lot to me, and I'm glad to have you along for the adventure. Stay tuned-more exciting content is on the way! Cheers, Ray
One of my local explores, for ever changing inside. Used to be able to go right down the tracks into the underground workshops, but when I was there most recent (few weeks back) there was new blast doors on the tracks. The 1st Rifles are moving in when they come back from overseas as Beachley barracks is closing, one door shuts and another one opens haha. great explore guys
Thanks for sharing that update! It's always interesting to see how these places evolve over time. Sounds like the new blast doors have really changed the access, but it's cool that you got to explore the underground workshops before they were sealed off. With the 1st Rifles moving in, it's definitely a case of one chapter closing and another beginning. Appreciate the heads-up and glad you enjoyed the explore!
Very interesting explore it is fascinating history, there were so many bunkers dug into the soft chalk over the years ending in the second world war and I bet there are still some that have not been discovered or reopened. I will say that there is nothing, absolutely nothing that would entice me to go down this one, far too claustrophobic for me.
The Muller homes had a fine reputation unlike other religiously affiliated homes for children in the UK and Ireland. Muller himself was an amazing man who truly was known by his works and his mindful account of donated $.
You really think thats true? That millions of dollars are there in art and other items and people can get in like this to explore? I dont think so.... thieves are good... if that stuff was worth big money, it would have been long gone. Thieves always find a way, and would find a way to get out with stuff, whatever size. Nobody is leaving millions of dollars in art around like this. Not saying I am correct or know for sure, because I dont.... just hard to believe.
@@bobabooey4537 There absolutely is... Its just the art would be incredibly difficult to sell.. The only pieces that I could sell are the Jade statues. They are worth about $20,000 each... And they could easily be sold to Chinese buyers. But the art, and other stuff, yeah you would probably be caught trying to sell.
Back in the early 1970's we held a motorcycle rally each year in the above ground section of this installation ( called the Dragon Rally, run by the Conway motorcycle club. ) such was the fame of this rally that motorclists from around the continent came-- one Lad came from France on a 50cc moped . I was on duty around 1,30 A.M. when he arrived -- set up his tent & the next morning he was up, had breakfast ( mobile snack bar ) collected his badge -- and set off back home in the slush & ice. He said it had taken him 3 days to get to Llanberis......... The locals told us that one of the ( narrow gauge ) trains derailed in the mountain & as it was dangerous to try to recover . the train & its load they knocked a hole in the bottom of some flooded workings thus flooding the derailed train-- could be the opening you found in the mine shaft. Today the site is an industrial complex.
I know there are tunnels underneath Reigate Castle. One of them is even used as an air rifle range. I'm guessing this is in a separate location. I'm curious to know where. Thanks for the video.
Don't know about you, but seeing a shoe like that... Why? Why is it there? Did someone really lose their shoe in there or did someone discard it using the tunnel as a dumping ground?
This feels like a disappointment before the excitement. Why not just place your gopro on a little remote control mini boat and ride it through as far as you can just to see what you can? Or a drone maybe?
Hi Ray, new subscriber over from Alex's channel. What a cool find honestly, I have never seen another explore in a shoe factory so this was quite interesting. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 🥰
