Thanks to shows like Sisterwives, Escaping Polygamy, Seeking Sister Wife, My Five Wives, & countless others, you've probably seen or at least heard something about polygamy by now, but there is much more to it than what they choose to portray in the media!
I want to use this channel to shed some light on what really goes on in polygamy & use this as an opportunity to educate people on the different groups, practices, & beliefs. There is much more to polygamy than having multiple wives, making babies & worshipping God! We will hear from individuals from different cults about their upbringings & abuse, I’ll answer your questions, & I will shed some light into my own personal life as well & what led me to leave my own group.
Please remember to be kind & compassionate in your comments & if you enjoy watching, subscribe to my channel so you never miss a video!
You’re both brave and courageous women and it’s good to hear you both managed to get out and your stories help many of us, not just people leaving such religious groups. Also, is Leah’s voice natural? I can’t work it out. I’ve never heard it on an English person but I have heard an American actress with the same voice. I’m just wondering if it’s an accent, and people from a specific area speak that way?
Were there any Polygamy groups that you knew of in the UK? Or is UK Mormons who decide to live the original doctrine that choose to come to the US that want to live Polygamy? I’m also curious how big the Mormon religion is across the pond?
NICE TO SEE you again, Leah! The last i saw of your story was you were living in a hotel because the roommate didn't make rent or took your rent and did something else with YOUR MONEY. I sure HOPE you're DOING A LOT BETTER! ❤💛
I am so impressed with Eskel's attitude and the positive vibes he sends out. You, Eskel, will be more than okay as you navigate your new reality. Thank you for your thoughts.
I can’t wrap my head around signing away all my properties and possessions over to anyone or anything, let alone a church. Maybe that’s the atheist talking or the educated side talking, but it would never happen.
this feels so tangential and small compared to the big issues you guys are discussing, but I really can't help myself but ask: your dad has a real funky accent, kinda british! does that come from outside the states or is he from someplace super rural?
He’s actually British but spent a good chunk of his life in Canada & the US. He did spend the majority of his life in the UK though & currently lives there, but he definitely gets that question quite a bit!
I was raised in conservative TX, and I do appreciate that you two are able to have a friendship. Unfortunately, because I am nonwhite and queer, that's just not safe for me. Too many of my friends have experienced violence at the hands of people who believe what Taylor believes socially (not to say that he would condone that, I hope not) and choose to act horribly towards people they see as less than ("traditional" - not in a facetious manner, to quote directly - gender roles that actually have recent roots in the grand scheme of the human experience and aren't truly traditional if we get technical about it). I do think some of the ways Taylor described the mindsets of conservatism vs others was reductive to those who do not think like him, but I don't know if that was purposeful and would like to think it was not. Ex. that conservatives tend to mull over their beliefs before changing their mind if at all. Most leftists I know did not come from an environment that was open to leftist thought, since we were raised in the Bible Belt. But through reading, life experience, empathy, and education on a variety of topics, we have turned away from the values of our hometowns. That's taken our entire lives. My dad was center-right for a long time. He slowly changed his mind after learning about new perspectives, and is now a leftist in his fifties. I do also want to add that politics go beyond something to chat about with friends for most of us because we have seen increased active harm to less powerful communities as a result of it since the 2016 election campaigning began. Like in my hometown, the first Black principal of our high school was put on administrative leave during the (imo ridiculous) conservative upset over CRT, a graduate-level topic, because he refused to say that racism was not an issue in our hometown. Isn't it the epitome of racism for a Black principal to be ousted because they refuse to say racism is over? Oof this is long, my apologies!t for a long time.
I really appreciated this respectful conversation, Leah. I’m a (constitutional) conservative Christian, and I hesitated to watch this because politics can be so ugly. (I follow you on Instagram under my conservative dogs’ account, which I haven’t posted on in forever, same profile pic!) ❤❤ I always love when you post videos! You’re so thoughtful and honest. Can’t wait for part 2.
Thank you so much! I wanted to convey as much respect for each party as possible & remain as unbiased as possible so this means a lot! Thank you for your love & support! I can’t wait to share part two!
Thank you both for sharing your perspective on AUB and the LDS. It's not easy to have either view in this world with out someone taking offense to a topic. Me personally I'm not worried how my family views the world I would still love them.
Thank you so much! I tried to stay as unbiased as possible in order to encourage everyone to keep an open mind so thank you for recognizing that & showing so much love & support!
@@thetelestialtea the way you believe is how I do trying to keep an open mind about everything cause I've been on a receiving end of a bad person who judges how you think but I say good riddance to bad rubiah.
I have NEVER let a guy drive me on dates unless we're in a relationship b/c that just puts you in a bad position. If a guy won't even pay for a first date then he is just a loser. The whole splitting of bills can definitely be a real gray area but, I have actually never dated someone didn't want to pay for meals. However, I didn't't think it was okay to accept letting them pay for clothes or jewelry UNLESS it was my birthday or something like that.
Leah, and anyone else that might know. Do you know of any way someone can offer a place to stay to someone who is leaving polygamy? Staying on the streets was very hard and sad I could imagine. I can imagine people not wanting to leave polygamy just because there's nowhere to go.
I had Irish triplets, one then twins in the same year. Not cult related and we spaced out our older kids with birth control, but we tried for 2 close together and got twins. That was tough enough running around with older school aged kids with 3 babies. I would not want to continue to do that, having more back to back, for 30 years.
We have a few friends over for dinner on NY that way we’re home safe and the kids can go to bed when they want to the kids usually have a few friends over that evening as well ❤❤
So when a Female has multiple husband is ok to called her Boss Bitch and Embrace Them 😂 but when a MEN DOES IT HE IS BRAINWASHING THEM AND A HORRIBLE PERSON!! WHAT A BUNCH OF 🤡
I had a mouse like that!!! I felt like I was losing my mind. Once I even heard a trap and subsequent banging around in the drawer…….and the little jerk still got away!!! So unprepared for Christmas! Ugh….it’s a weird combination of panic and apathy for me. 🤷🏻♀️
I'm not sure if you said what neck surgery you're having, the volume was too low for me to hear clearly. 20 years ago, I had an anterior cervical discectomy with fusion. If you have questions about it, let me know.
so my limited understanding is that Christines grandfather was rulob allred who i ignorantly thought was the founder of aub church... ... does this mean that christine could be indirectly or directly related to jelff allred... thank you for the video
Talking about paying on a date, men should pay for the first date because of the female tax. Women are expected to look a certain way and that takes time and money. Women are responsible for birth control and menstruation supplies. Then there’s the income gap, too.
When our children were young we refused to travel if anyone wanted to see us for thanksgiving and Christmas they were welcome to come to our house it just didn’t make sense to travel with Santa and all 🤷🏼♀️
Our holidays end up being mostly our “found” family”, I’m an only child and my husband’s family is all out of state , both my parents are passed away for many years 😢 my oldest daughter is hosting Thanksgiving this year which is going to be really strange to not be home this year😢
When we moved to New Hampshire they just take your old license and check your driving record and mail your NH license when we came back to California California had my husband and I take the drivers test again 🤦🏼♀️ I get super nervous about tests too. We both passed 👍🏼
