So appreciate that you came back to RU-vid! As a survivor of child abuse myself, I was thinking that ASCA could be a good group to share with survivors from the AUB who have lived through child abuse.
"Every man has two deaths, when he is buried in the ground and the last time someone says his name. In some ways men can be immortal." - Ernest Hemingway What a great conversation! Can't wait for Part II! 🙂
Thanks so much for this video ladies. I loved the discussion on the question of the meaning of life and what happens when you die. When I wonder these same questions, my mind tends to go the same route as Amanda. I will panic about the thought of dying and there being nothing, and find the most comfort in the idea that no energy is created or destroyed, so even if we don't have a consciousness, if our a dies are buried naturally, which some areas are now starting and allowing, so you rot into the ground and become dirt rather than being full of chemicals in a box, and that's what truly makes me think my energy would eventually maybe become part of a flower, or a worm that is eaten by a bird, so now I'm a bird flying through the air. So strange. Leah's comment about how after we die, eventually everyone we knew will die and we will just be a blip in history. My degree is in history, so I think about this a lot, like how many billions of people lived and are no longer anyone's memory, and there is no record to even find out about them. I once heard that there is some religion that believes you have two deaths. The first death is when you die, and the second death is when the last person who knew you dies. That always really stuck with me. Anyway, again ladies, I love following you both and can't wait to watch the second half of the interview with Amanda. Amanda! You don't k ow me but I watch ALL of your videos, and am pisses when I have to watch a live in replay! I really try to catch you and Eskel every Sunday. You guys feel like friends even though we don't know each other - I have researched Mormon polygamy pretty extensively - and I'm kind of obsessive when I get on a topic, so I truly mean research on all groups, LeBarons, Allreds, Kingstons, FLDS, Blackmore, Centennial Park, over the past ten years - and I'm looking forward to watching Leah's channel and getting to know her better as well. 🙏 ❤️ ☮️
I enjoy hearing these stories and always see very important lessons for anyone, in any situation and, like many others, i can relate to most of what is discussed. one valuable lesson expressed here is to never live down to or within someone elses idea of who you should be. Whether in the context of relationships, religions, cults, groups or friendships, it is so incredibly important to never live down to less than you want to be for any reason. Alot of what i hear discussed by survivors of this specific group seems far too familiar to me, and it makes me wonder how closely connected these entities are to the ones i am still dealing with, and have since i was too young to remember. Alot of the same controlling behaviours used by cultists are used by abusers, and the institution of marriage are closely related. So congratulations to anyone who escapes both, or either, especially when it appears to limit your freedom, potential, growth, development, or anything important to you. If you arent free to be who you want to be in any relationship, thats unhealthy, and people should be reminded of this more frequently. Videos such as this will make a difference to people who need that validation, and it may encourage someone to leave an abusive situation, or be more aware of what it is. so keep up the amazing work. People deserve to be free to be who they are, to grow, to exceed the expectations of abusers, or people controlling them, and to walk away from such things.
@@thetelestialtea super interesting episode! And random, but I have to listen without video for the most part, otherwise I stare in fascination at the hand on your table and zone out.🤷🏻♀️🤣 It strikes me as a bit creepy so I don’t know why I just can’t stop staring at it. (That has absolutely zero to do with the video topic, but hopefully you got a good chuckle!)
@@GoldenMom815 😂😂😂 it’s a palmistry hand 🤚🏻 that is pretty funny though. I try to change it up with random decor around the house so I’ll keep that in mind for the next one!
@@thetelestialtea 🤣🤣🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Edited afterthought: I hope you didn’t take my comment as a slam. I just thought it was funny that I was staring at the hand. I apologize if it felt like I was criticizing your decor!
"I'm on the highway to hell" My vision of hell would be having to watch the original version of Beast of Yucca Flats (not the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version) until my head explodes.
I dont relate to anyone but you guys. Amanda im going through the same thing i dont even have access to our bank and been married 11 years now like whaaaat. im just now realizing its not normal. my husband is from a cult where they had the kids working in offices cleaning and im from the same area the blackmores are at in BC. Its just crazy how you meet people in the world and your thinking your life is normal and then your friend says something like why cant you do this or why do you have to ask your husband .. total dad situation one over another .. ugh.
I know what that feels like…I constantly felt like I had to ask permission and it was so freeing the day I decided I was going to live my life and not ask someone else for permission to do so…it took a LONG time, don’t beat yourself up over it, you are strong and you are so much more powerful than you think 💜thinking of you and cheering you on to find your happiness and freedom girl cuz you deserve it🥰 Thankyou for your kind words
The concept of heaven and hell being so prevalent in our society is interesting to me, since it's not actually taught in the Bible or something that the Jews and Christians of Biblical times believed in. I would call myself a Christian but personally my belief is that if there is life after death it will be custom-designed to be something that we want. A loving God would never force someone to spend an eternity with people they don't love, doing things they don't enjoy. A loving God would also never judge people by things that were out of their control (including race, sexuality, and gender). But I'm also satisfied with the idea that "eternal life" is to live on in the memory of others rather than an actual consciousness in another dimension. Our actions have a ripple effect throughout time that will continue to echo and reverberate long after everyone we knew has also died. Our goal is not to please some fickle and vain man in the sky but to make a lasting positive impact on the world that will live on for future generations. Honestly I think that's what Jesus really taught - the purpose of life is not following arbitrary rules to get to heaven, but radical gestures of love that will echo through time.
