Neighbor im very impressed. Im 68 and retired from trucking 50yrs and I got started as my 3rd hobby tinkering with base stations and all sorts of high power amps an radios. I've used all types of antennas such as solarcon, icom, imax and really good one some what like yours. Custom made by one of the big antenna, amp builders because I have a Dave Made outfit that runs 2800 to 3500 watts, a 2x4 amp, a 4pill galaxy 98vhp 750 watts so I had a good antenna made and with guy wires and a storm from the abyss came through in 10 minutes it blew it down but praise GOD its in one piece, well it consists of 28 pieces. Worked great untill storm. I finally took it down and apart but have no help to re run it. Your boat type rig is what I should have done in 1st place because im too handicapped to put it back on my chimney. You did great job.
The radial plate seem to be stainless steel .But the bolts flat washers lock washers and nut are not true stainless steel they stick to a magnet . True stainless doesn't stick to a magnet. Now for the dxengineering stainless clamp , the Seattle for clamp is stainless but the u bolt and flat washers lock washers and nuts are not again true stainless . but the price you pay for it, it should be . So it is false advertisedment. Buyer be aware. That way they tell you use jet lube, and sale you jet lube. But they don't tell if it was true stainless you don't need. Jet lube.
Al, When you installed your radials I see that you fastened the end with a nail. Did you use ground staples to fasten the rest of the radial to the ground? Or, did you just figure that the grass would eventually cover the radial field? Also, if you didn't use ground staples did you have any issues with disturbing the radial field when you added the tubing to the vertical? Mark Griffin, KB3Z
Checked out eham reviews. wow! What a piece of JUNK! Why people get all excited about legal limit baffles me. The 600 watt ameritron will do ALMOST the same on the other end (difference negligible). Is it the auto tune that gets people excites? I don't know, but if you can't tune an amp because two minutes is to much time to spend doing so maybe you should consider a Tokyo hi power. From my research the THP is a much better amp and offers no tune. Two 3-500z's cost much less than the $1000+ (emac) that this amp needs when it's time to replace. And according to eham reviews you'll not only need to replace the tube but much more. These amps are problematic! Alpha 9500-87a = JUNK JUNK JUNK! DO YOUR HOMEWORK. ALPHA VS AMERITRON. IT'S A NO BRAINIER IMO. If you need 1500/Watts go with the dual 3-500z ameritron. Good luck.
Thanks for posting. This is a great addendum to the Alpha documentation. Had a bear of a time getting the transformer installed and wires routed to where they need to be internal to the amp. Couple of install, uninstall, reinstalls. Thanks again.
Very few amateurs who understand and apply the use of a good ground, not only acts as a mirror reflecting the best cran RF into infinite space, but also offers extra security against possible electrical activity, when someone uses besides, much power, this condition have good ground, better polarized antenna, offering better performance and better stabilizes the ROE, good job! I did the same, with radial wires of about 10 meters, put 4 oriented according the cardinal points, thanks for your video.
