@@tiredrich the collar twists off to the left and then there is a torx screw, back it off but not all the way and the pin should slide back which will allow you to pull the camera digitally and away from its base
Thank you for showing the highs and the lows of the job. I’m sure you have already tried them both, but I thought of a coax to ethernet adapter? Or finding where the coax goes and rod from there?
It's a shame it's rendered wall otherwise you could have removed a brick or two from outside to see if you could clear the blockages but then you'd come under attack by them pesky polystyrene beads.
Only hearing one side of the story which I'm sure is true I would certainly take them to court. I think they won't turn up and you will win. The next problem you'll have is enforcing the win but that can be done through other people in the court system as well this is what gives people bad names but at the same time the one major mistake I think you've made you haven't had anything put down in writing to start with that could be a major problem hopefully you have kept all your WhatsApp messages to back your statement up in court as well good luck
Hi, I have one of these Colorvu 4K (DS-2CE72UF3T-E) but it has condensation in the lens...is it possible to take the lens off and clean it out or is it a sealed unit?
The wiring part and the camera instalation is good, however the location of the recording (VCR) unit is less than satisfactory. The attic gets really hot during the summer and the really cold during the winter. Both these extremes are outside the VCR's specifications. I'm also concerned about the wiring under the gravel from security point of view🙏
Hello, I have a question: I have had an old DVR from HIK vision which is Missing In Action - lost contact during a burglars operation (Alarm was not installed yet). Thanks to God loss was just a few jewellery they mistakenly thought they were made of gold , a door lock and few IT devices (police found them the next day - thanks to them for their intervention) and the DVR - 504-K1 Unfortunately the model we had was triggering thousands of notifications when raining or bugs going in front of cameras… so we had to switch off notifications on our smartphones… quite silly thing to do… We still have 4 cameras I think 2 MP or 5 MP( I really don’t know) So now I’m thinking to buy a new CCTV + Alarm What’s is best according to you ? Buying a DVR or NVR ? Are the new cameras able to distinguish between rain drops, bugs and humans in order to reduce false alarms? Thanks for your advice.
Got both Hikvision and Blink and they both have their strengths and weaknesses. Blink was super easy to set up and use, but the battery limits the amount of video you'll want to record. Great for just keeping an idea on your property or seeing parcels being delivered, and for this purpose the battery lasts well over a year. Hikvision has always been far more painful to setup (I have older cameras), especially for a DIY'er and also because I don't have a PC - only a Mac - so it makes life far far harder than it needs to be. Love them both though. If you want constant monitoring or you'll have a lot of movement on the camera, go Hikvision. Otherwise, I wholeheartedly recommend Blink cameras, especially when bought on Prime Days as it makes them dirt cheap, they're so easy to use, and also easy to place literally anywhere around your property (I have one in my bush looking at my front door), you'll be up and running in no time.
Nice video as looking at Blink just now, not for house but for campervan. You ever thought of doing a video or do you know of any gear maybe in the middle ground for campervan install with cameras that can pan and tilt. Keep up the the videos.
Personally I think the blink is perfect for a camper as you can take them down and recharge as/ when you need them. A wired system would be nightmare to install in a finished campervan
was great until you run the ethernet outside the house! not secure at all, as many people have said about as secure as a pair of snips. anyone can cut the cable and get into your network, they'd be able to watch you from outside the house lmao
I've had these for ~6 months now with the siren option and M2 NVR, still working flawlessly! I use the infra-red for night time, and have the built-in led turn on when the perimeter is crossed. I wish the 180 degree panorama had the infra-red option too, not fond of the light on throughout the night like the non hybrid colorvu cams. Was going to go with the dahua 4k cams but they can't match the quality of these units, and I'm yet to have one false positive like a friends dahua set-up. So far so good, can't complain!
Covering cable with gravel?! Clipping up behind the drain pipe?! Cables just tucked in underneath or placed on top of the insulation?! Is this a joke? The video was good until then. The word "professional" doesn't mean what it used to, I suppose.
Been down this road before. If the judge finds in your favour don't mess around instruct a bailiff so get the money (don't use the court Bailiff they are useless).
ermm, by uploading this video you may be compromising your court case. Did you ask your solicitor about this? I would set it to private to prevent it being viewed until you know it's OK to make it public.
As soon as they start mithering about this and that you just know they are just seeing how many hoops you will jump through. Once they think they can mess you about you can guarantee the end game is not paying or only part paying. You ought to have standard terms and conditions for each job if it is of any size - your trade body should have something you can use. Classic mistake of being a bit short of work and thinking anything is better than nothing - next time I'd keep walking if I were you.
Great video, but just a word of advice, please don't record being in a moving vehicle whilst still putting on your seatbelt or having your hands off the wheel. Things like that can mean penalty points or losing licenses if someone's being an asshat.
No work or not let it be a lesson to trust your gut feeling. People like this and we all know who they are without saying never pay for anything and never usually get decent people to do their work if they intend to pay for it. That's why the work was so bad first time around. Chances are you would never have ever got paid no matter what. They need teaching a lesson to stop it happening again to anyone else. Note for the future though if in doubt walk away the signs are always there with people like this. It's better to have no work and the chance of work with someone else that all the hassle and work for free for people like this :)
Some customers just aren't worth having. I'm actually more interested in the stuff you were fitting in this video than the story though. What are they? PoE WiFi APs that fit in a standard box?
@@georgemcclelland5207 you’re totally right. The access points are a TP link in wall. They fit exactly over a normal single back box or data point and push out WiFi to that area. These are great if you need to get WiFi to somewhere it’s nearly impossible to get new cabling to but has a wall data point. I just wish they came in black or I’d have them at my house
You 100% deserve to get paid for the work. However having no defined scope of work and the acceptance of extra work once started does leave you vulnerable. Take them to court and good luck.
Definitely take them to court. In your video there seems to be a lot of ambiguity over the scope of the job and how variations are managed, I know paperwork is a bind, but good T&Cs and sign-off of minor works/variations will make litigation a lot easier. I wish you every success 👍
Am I supposed to select the resolution when I am setting these 4k cameras up or is that automatic? I have six of them and my complaint is soon as you zoom in on something during playback mode the picture pixilates so bad the image is useless.
That mechanical HDD is not going to survive in that loft. Summer temps will be 40-45c up there, meaning the HDD will hit 70c at least, and then fail very quickly. The ethernet run was shocking really, i would have done a better job than that. Plus i would have put a small network switch in the loft and then the customer could fit an upstairs WiFi AP to give far superior coverage.
I would avoid putting equipment like DVRs in the loft if possible. The temperature up there can swing from ~0C to over 40C over the course of a day, and this constant cycle of temperature change could shorten the life of electronic equipment like hard drives. Condensation can also form in loft spaces when it's cold, which can also impact the life of electronics. A DVR would be much happier in the living space. Edit: I don't know that specific device, but it looks like you blocked the air vent holes by screwing it to the timber.
Hi, thanks for the video. Im using a smart hybrid light 8mp, 2.8mm version of this camera (DS-2CD2387G2H-LIU). Its IR during night switching to color with illumination once motion detected. I get quite a bit of ghosting of a moving person, my exposure is set at 1/100, which settings would you recommend for this camera please?
Better having wire where they can be seen but not reached as there are too many fake cameras now and theyll just think they arnt real and still try amd get in.
Address shown, thieves now know where the cables are and how to CUT them off. Really bad GDPR compliance here. I would NOT be happy if this was my house!! at 06:14 you show the connection QR code, which is easily viewable and easily scannable using the HK connect app. THIS IS APPALLING PRIVACY BREACH
What recording system do I need for these? I am ordering 9 cameras but eventually want 16. I don’t know what 16 channel recorder will be enough to store 30 days of footage minimum? Thank you!
Lovely install 👌 Although I hate how bulky the junction boxes for the cameras are! I drilled a bigger hole to fit the entire camera cable through the brickwork so I could mount the camera directly to the wall 😂
