Long story short, except for the G string, the 5th fret on every string is the same note as the string below it. In any drop tuning, the 7th fret of the biggest string will sound the same note as the string below.
Wear gloves, when i was trying to fix my tune and realised it was the wrong one, it was too late lol and then mymfinger gotmcut, luckily just my finger. And no i was not wearing gloves at that time, now i do.
I swapped strings on my tele yesterday. I use rotosound blues 10-52s and while listening to music I didn't realize I tuned the low E string 10 semitones higher (I tune to drop D most of the time) and yet it didn't snap
The fear of tuning and trauma is because of this , like idk what it was but my guitar came and literally not a day later the high e string had already exploded, maybe old strings idk, i had to restring it
