(Isaiah 42:5) - This is what God the Lord says - the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it.
Superb, entertaining production Richard. 👍Your drone footage of Van Rhyns Pass is breathtaking. See myself and little dog Poppet at the bazaar - Bagdad Cafe where we met again. Safe travels and good venture. 🤘
Viewer Plan Going Forward: This video is open for the general public to view. Hereafter the general public will only be able to view every 3rd video. Much love....Richard Hunt
I luv this, just found it today, I am 100% for the natural feeling, i dont like the music though, but I don't want to miss anything. Can you maybe have more of the evening and or morning natural nature sounds.
@@gladiators-den Hello there. Maybe if you have a video with the sound effects you are mentioning, please send me the link so I can watch it and get an idea. Thanks for your feedback...Richard
Great footage and travels Richard. Was amazed to meet you in Vanryhnsdorp a few days ago. You must be fearless even a bit crazy.😅 Felt sorry for you on that potholed Van Rhyns pass road what with all the trucks thundering past. Stay strong. 👍
@SamuelLerumo-pw5mn hello there. I am in the Karoo now and will end up in KZN for December. When are you wanting to start your journey and what route do you have in mind. It would be awesome if we could meet somewhere or other :))))
Some interesting routes you've taken. Thanks for going to the trouble to share your experience. The fish that were being sold at the roadside are carp.
I never thought of the issue of weight before with paniers and touring. I just assumed the bike could take my weight and 'some' luggage. Thanks for this info.
@flyingmonkeys9774 yes, if you go over 25 kgs, a steel frame is the way to go...but short term bikepacking is what most people do and a normal MTB is perfect.
very good advices not only for bike touring but for everyday of our life. thanks Richard, love your videos and advices. enjoy and thanks for sharing your journey with us.
Good day Richard. I’ve been following your entire journey and I’ve been loving it. As a South African I’ve been to many of your destinations. Your “Ingredients for Bicycle Touring” should read “Ingredients to dealing with life”. Two thumbs up. I wish you all the best. PS: we live in an amazing country
I had done numerous small cycling trips for a few years that was very enjoyable. By choice when economy took a nose dive in USA I gave up my apartment and stored a few boxes at a friends house and traveled about every road in Oregon. You are absolutely right about the list. Things I thought would be important ended up not and right till the last day I was learning new ways to thrive. I might add one if you don’t mind. Be prepared if you do for whatever reason that you have to live in “ normal society” again things will not be the same. I found it harder to have an apartment and vehicle etc etc. I find everyday yearning to be back on the road not just on a trip but living an adventure thx this video meant a lot to me
I recently found your channel and worked my way down to the start of your adventure. So love the ethos of your trip, I want to do this but not on my own though. You're a real warrior for the spirit of the great heart.
@ronels1216 Thank you for the encouragement. Yes, it does get lonely on your own, and would be so much better with a riding partner to share the moments you cannot bring across on video :))))
Hi Richard, discovered you on You Tube 2 days ago. Love your presentations. I cycled the Scottish Western Isles last month, so different from het Veldt. Very sad to see mining 'raping' beautiful SA.
Enjoying your South African “adv 29:28 enture.” I watch a lot of touring vids. Yours may be the only South African tour I’ve seen. I have a touring bicycle setup, as well. I live in the States, in the mid west. I just tour in my state because it’s a decent size - make short tours. I’am a 50 year vegetarian. I avoid restaurants and motels. I enjoy wild camping. I never eat those freeze dried meals. I eat Ramen, dried mashed potatoes, minute rice, couscous. Jiff, tortillas, little tins of refried beans, tins of baked beans (made w navy beans). For something sweet I like Nutella (tastes like cake icing). I use a little twig stove. For boiling water like for a cup of tea I carry Esbit tablets and use the simple, little “stove” made by Esbit. Ok, stay safe- not a lot of cars in the area where you’re riding. Om!
Great video. I cannot believe we have such beautiful places. Please explain the route you travelled from Tuis se Kombuis. Loved that place. Tried to Google it but wasn't successful. Carry on, you're amazing.
Google Thys'e Kombuis. Easy to find on the internet. From Kamieskroon take the Leliesfontein road and it's on the corner of another road turning off that road.
Another great inspiring video Richard and don’t forget, if a leopard is running at you to attack, you are not allowed to kill it so you will just have to pedal away faster😄
Hello Adriaan. Food is a very individual choice. With touring I do not even take the same hiking food I have been using over many years. If I did a short trip the dehydrated food would be the way to go.....but I am doing touring very long term. So I take basic food like rice, lentils, oats, nulife, etc....then along the way I get whatever fresh food I find and add to that. In the outlying towns it gets difficult to find fresh food....so thankfully I am not fussy. I try to replace lost energy and protein whatever way I can....and adapt/change along the way.
