I know Spotify is making that assumption, but it's unfair and even kinda ableist (since this is something neurodivergent people might do) for you to call repeat streaming "unnatural" and "misbehavior". Some of us actually do want to listen to a song on repeat for hours.
I feel like you're directing your anger towards the wrong person (me) and that perhaps this feedback would be better sent to the source (spotify) where it will have a better chance of having the impact you want. I make these videos to help people who struggle understanding the music business, many of them neurodivergent, so they can better navigate their careers and protect themselves. I haven't watched this video since I created it, but I'm fairly sure that if I said "unnatural" and "misbehaviour" that I was more than likely quoting Spotify's T&C's. If I wasn't quoting them, and that was my own language: then I am sorry for causing harm, it was not my intent, and I'll keep this in mind for how I phrase things in the future. Either way: please do understand that, as frustrating as it may be, repeat streaming a song for hours can have an incredibly negative affect on the (small, independent) artists that you love. Regardless of how you feel about how Spotify classifies streams: continuing to practice this kind of behaviour, after learning of the negative impact it has on independent artists, is selfish and harmful behaviour.
@JoeyClarksonMusic I distinguished between Spotify's actions and yours. But trying to pass off your words as Spotify's, and then calling people selfish for listening to music they paid for in a way they find soothing, is pretty on brand. Don't worry hon, I just came here for info on how artists get paid and have no intention of ever listening to your music. The vibes in this video are bad enough. Maybe you should direct YOUR anger at Spotify instead of at the poor 200 souls who listened to your song (gasp) five times!
I didn't know that REPEAT could be have some consequences on it's Artists. Very sorry to heard that. But we music lovers ... A die hard Fan of our respective music artists we show our RESPECT, our deep LOVE, huge INTEREST whenever we REPEATEDLY listen a great song. During our favourite song duration : " We dive into a world of pleasent, no worries, meditation state, out of this world 🌎 experience " During that repeated song. And we just wanna have some More time... To staying that euphoric state ... !!! Thanks for this video... It's an EYE OPENER 👁️ video. As restaurant manager at 41, I'm looking to find a long term to change careers. I do all types of dumb voices with my girlfriend all the time and figured I'd give this a try. I always wanted to be an actor and director and figured this might be a good way to flex that acting muscle without having to relocate and take serious time off. Thank you for these videos.
I would never recommend streaming a song solely to boost vanity metrics. Your energy is much better spent finding an audience who actually wants to listen to your music, and engaging with them on a personal level to create a fan base that cares about your future releases. It may feel discouraging at first because it's hard to find an audience and grow one, but faking it is not going to get you anywhere and will more than likely stunt you from finding your forever audience. Do the work, your music deserves it.
If the original music you would like to use isn't published (and won't be published) or is original music that is licensed for commercial use from another party (ie. epidemic sounds) you are able to use it. Otherwise, you are limited to what is available on Spotify.
@@JoeyClarksonMusic they just removed my bands live recording. i played. i recorded it. i mastered it. original song. It says in the guidelines. “Absolutely no music on the podcast side. music is for the music library. “
Now that Anchor is coming to an end and users are being squeezed onto the Riverside platform, is there an alternative option to continue creating a podcast which legally integrates music from Spotify?
This is a great question! I believe that Spotify actually took over Anchor over a year ago, and that they rebranded it as Spotify for Podcasters (A free tool, with the same integrations). I haven't actually spent too much time on it yet, so I can't vouch for it completely, but i'll link to it here for ease and would love to know your experience if you do give it a go! podcasters.spotify.com/

I go live on tiktok and everything echos… when I watch myself on the phone my voice echos, the videos I watch echos, even the music I play… I don’t get it and need help. (Also when recording music it echoes and it’s delayed)😢
Heres the thing about spelling errors - If youve ever read a Nigerian Prince email - you think to yourself "who could ever fall for this - this person can't even spell." Thats often by design. (I say often bc I'm not going to speak to your situation) I saw a scammer interviewed about this once and he said, if someone is willing to overlook all of those obvious errors, they are more likely to overlook more of the scam as it unfolds. So, it eliminates a large group of people that would drop out anyways once red flags started to pop up." Plus in your case, why partner with someone with poor communication skills when their entire business is built on outreach? If you were hired for a legit company to do outreach and your email and other correspondences were filled with spelling and grammar mistakes- you would be let go.
But there's nothing wrong with that- I mean streaming your own stuff. I pay for a premium account to play whatever I want, whenever I want. I choose to play my own for a couple days because I like it. I play it in the background while making dinner or cleaning and I play it in the car. Why not? I've been playing my own album on repeat so I can learn and practice to perform live. I just lost 1000 streams last night, which is way more than I played. There IS A SCENERIO where you stream on repeat for hours- to play along and practice your performance!! Furthermore, spotify ALLOWS up to 90% "fake streams". I was well under this threshold. Spotify is not what we think it is.

Only probelm with incentives is now your fan vase only active as long you keep the gifts comin and ounce some dont win they will leave we need a way make peole listen for sake of music alone or look for another hobby and career
If you're targeting the wrong people with your incentives, then your statement will certainly be true... Incentives do work if you deliver them with high quality music and target an audience will actually listen to it. The incentive should be used as a gateway to get your music in front of the right people/audience, not a way to trick people into listening to your music to inflate your metrics.
Heya, musically: we’ve released a few collab tracks in the past, and have a couple coming up this year :) Film/Media: my bread and butter at the moment is video editing for youtube and social media, and social media management and coaching for other clients. So, a lot of collaborations in that sense. Are you getting some vinyl printed up?
