This is a great video. The pouring out of gas and replacing with fresh fuel was perfect advice. I did pick up a new carb etc… on Amazon for around $20 just in case and will just save it. Great step by step video!
Wish I had seen this before a local repair shop soaked me. They replaced the carb and after a few hours the same problem recurred. Thanks for posting this video.
i've got a hustler fastrak with a kawasaki fh580v Kai ... seems to run fine but you engage the blade it doesn't necessarily bog down but it doesn't rev up... but it will bog down and nearly die once u get in grass and ride very slow... New carb etc.. could this be me problem?
@@christophercorbett7307 I did! Changed everything imaginable on a Husky 224L except waiting on the one part I didn’t change-ignition coil. Seems this was a problem with these?
@@christophercorbett7307 I installed new Harbot carb on Husky 455, changed all hoses, primer bulb, plug. Adjusted high out half turn, but still not wanting to idle and bogs down when squeezing throttle. There were 2 gaskets that came with carb, but the rubber on the intake still looked good. Is there a standard generic starting position for adjusting screws?
You are doing with one hand what I struggle to do with two. I've watched all the youtube vids on this job, yours is so far ahead of the rest. The kill wire switch setup had me puzzled. But after a bit of study I think I have it now. I subscribed, and upvoted your video. Since I now rarely use the saws, I am considering going electric and keeping only one gas saw. Would you care to comment on that idea?
@@user-cv1xe9yf3f I sure appreciate your support!! If you're going to buy electric, buy whatever good brand in closest to you. Whether it's Stihl, Husqvarna, Milwaukee, etc. You need to buy from where you can most easily get parts. They are good until you use them beyond what they are intended for. Quick cutting up of small trees/limbs and they do fine.

Do you think this would help if my engine only surges when hot? (Normally about 30 minutes of mowing or so). I've replaced the carb, replaced the coils, replaced the fuel pump, removed the heads to clean them up and reseal in case it was a head gasket leak. I'm at my wits end on this one.

That means you've got too much crud in carburetor or water in fuel/bad fuel. If it was me I'd buy a new aftermarket and, drain fuel, replace fuel line and fuel filter. Then you're done with it
@@christophercorbett7307hmm, my local dealer has parts diagrams on their page and the 180 carb is the same as the 170 🤔 The carb you've got looks like the one for the 250
Ive got an older ikon x 52 before the HD when the Home Depot began selling them, about 10yrs old, running the original spindles with no problem. I guess their quality went way down with the HD's. Great video though.
We replaced the carb with a new one 2 yrs ago. It's been sitting since then. New battery and I was booking. After 3 days smoke was blowing. Fuel in the oil. I just took it apart after sitting 2 weeks. No fuel in bowl but lots of yellowish white powder. It's coated everything with plenty left to poor out. Why would a new carb bowl be full of powder??
I considered Ariens, was close to it till i read up more on these, ended up going with a Bad Boy mower, the spindles are big cast, greasable spindles for close the same price.
