The Lytham St Annes Spitfire Display Team was founded in 2008 to help promote and preserve the individual and collective efforts of the Royal Air Force in the North West of England during WW2. Based in an original 1939 RAF Bellman Hangar, at Blackpool Airport, Lancashire, a dedicated team of volunteers restore former RAF Gate Guardians & Military Vehicles and artefacts to a very high level of detail, including using original WW2 Aircraft parts.
The creation of the Spitfire Visitor Centre, helps us accurately depict the conditions of the period. Amongst our ongoing projects their is the restoration of WW2 RAF Airspeed Oxford, RAF vehicles and wartime equipment. In 2021 we expanded our displays to support the "Saving Amy" project, to restore a rare Mark V Airspeed Oxford Bomber Crew trainer back to her former glory.
The Spitfire Visitor Centre will be open to the Public on Weekends from March to October inclusive 2023
