overall brilliant impression but no 1911 I cant stress this enough it was removed from the to and e in 1943 so unless you are high up burn it, however cc2 and wool shirt with tank top and also brilliant wear into the impression with a nice transitional cover on the e tool and riggers with felt pads also i love the white cot strap good to see!
@@MilitaryRelics1944 if you look at a channel called Mr 44 they stitch Nazis which mean they get every detail right? They’ll tell you about it they did not carry pistol you might find the odd photo of someone carrying one but you want to follow the majority in reenacting to get it accurate
@@MilitaryRelics1944 but still you shouldn’t have a pistol for your impression because they weren’t used often. You don’t want to base your impression of one guy with Unusual gear do you wanna follow the majority?
Rank insignia you'll find, however the 101st was told to take off the iconic 101st eagle patch as to not let the Germans know the unit they were fighting. You can see quite a bit of pictures with some wearing it and some not. Me, however, my impression is a salty private who survived Normandy and Holland and doesn't want any leadership and is considered to be a "problem child" haha. So I didn't listen to my NCOs and instead just faded my patch instead. I like to get into character, feels more authentic that way
What is the standard issue t shirt worn by army troops in Europe because when looking at army troops and marines in the Pacific as seen in some movies and shows such as Hacksaw Ridge and The Pacific etc, you would see guys wearing white or green shirts therefore I always assumed that paratroopers and other standard army guys in Europe would also get issued with the same t shirt to save cost and keep production simple by making the same thing
Need to show the M-1937 Wool shirt, the leather palms & regular wool gloves, wool scarf. Some used the button on hood for the M-43 Field jacket if GI’s where able to get them. Shoe packs but many never got them.
Bro I looked through your page and you're not someone who should be telling me I'm wrong. You got a 101st jump uniform with an invasion flag for Normandy. Don't like to be a dick but you need to research before coming and saying what I'm doing is wrong.
This is actually one of the most informative guides for impressions Ive ever seen and bro does not sugar coat anything. Straight forward and to the point
What's 'John Wayneing your chinstrap'? If you mean just having the standard helmet chinstraps hanging down that's by far the most common way guys had them from all units in normandy. Sure the chincup and A frames were stuck into the liner but as stated chinstraps hanging down is really the way.
Incorrect for the most part. As you'll see pics here and there the vast majority wouldn't be doing this. Esspecially since they dig into your equipment ect. They trained in England before the jumps and would have learned that before
@@beavernation1747 No 😂 Look at the unit you portray for example and in-theatre photos in Normandy. Look at the photos taken at the holdy aid station by Doc lage.
You can use some fairly worn fieldgear for your Normandy pre jump, as you trained with the same gear you eventually jumped with. I'm a WW2 US Paratrooper reenactor (82nd 505th just postwar walking out dress impression, 517th and 551st Southern France and of course the 555th Triple nickels) , and there are countless pics of paratroopers getting ready to jump with seemingly worn gear. No need to get gear for pre jump, then D-Day +1, D-Day +6, Hedgerows, Normandy breakout, etc
Hey beaver you've mentioned doing information on what certain battalions did or didn't do where can I find such information? Like for example what was unique to the 502nd
@@beavernation1747 alright I fallow you is there any other examples like unique gear or a certain way to where said gear I've found one where it says they used a lot of scrim or another saying they where issued British shell dressings
Here’s a question, my great uncle was in the 82, and he carried a Ka-Bar knife given to him from his step brother. Do you think that it would be possible for me to carry one in my impression?
For Airborne I'd say no since they weren't issued K bars. They got the M3 knife which is kinda like a K bar. This is an Airborne impression for WWII so K bars I wouldn't be too keen on having on ya
The famous "Utility strap" was actually used to secure litters, i think it may be used to also secure a knife onto your leg. The white leg strap that you showed in the video, as you said, it was used to secure cots, paratroopers ripped these straps off of them and used them to strap things on their legs. I think the same can be done with the canvas litter strap. Let me know if im wrong
where can you get those straps for the leg knife..and some cord, what way would you do it if you were just going to attach it to your leg not for a re-enactment Thanks-
@@beavernation1747 Do you have any cheaper alternative ideas? im working with a really low budget..just need something sturdy that will hold it on my leg when moving running in woods and terrain ect.. thanks!!
Whats good man. The way I was taught was to buy the stencil which I have and got it from an old website. Just Google WWII stencil and you'll find it. And I used a ball point pen and absolutely went to town on making it shade in
Hey man thanks for the speedy response! Yeah I recently got my m42 jumpjacket and wanted to do what u did with the last name and lundry number I've done some research and found a place Serviceofsupply that makes the ww2 style stencils just wasnt sure what to use to mark stuff in I thought permanent marker but that might be to much but just normal ball point pen?
@@wyattrierson1851 Make sure to check to see if your unit you're portraying did that though. A lot of units didn't have the time to do that. The biggest thing you need to do now for your M42s is wash them a few times to get rid of the new wrinkle look and get them CC2ed
@@beavernation1747 oh haha im not currently in a unit I'd like to be but im really building this kit for personal look and also for airborne demonstration class I plan on going to I've gotten the non reinforced version but once the stencils, extra arm pockets and patches are added I will be asking service co rigger mods to add those then it's just competing the webgear and helmet
But no your advice sounds soild man I mean I got the stencil ready to go and you said just a simple ball point pen or? Also it would be a huge help if you could explain to what dday impression plus 2 or plus 3 (I'm not sure which) means
Glad I could help. Remember that each unit had its own things they did and didn't do. Research not just the regiment but the actual company you're portraying as well. Best of luck
I’m new to Reenacting and came across your video while doing research. All I got from this video is that some Reenactors are total fucking dicks. I have started World War II history for 25 years. Although I’m new to Reenacting I’m not new to the game if you will. You’re so sure of yourself and your statements. like saying you’re wrong if your pockets aren’t full of stuff. You can’t speak for every soldier that was there. You can’t speak for every little thing that they did because there might be one written account for every several thousand guys. There may be only 1 photo for every several thousand as well. That leaves a lot of people that you don’t know what they were doing and never will. My grandfather was 30th Div. There are photos of him out the ass because his friend had a camera. There are things I have been told by Reenactors like yourself that are so sure they know everything that I could instantly disprove with a family photo. All your doing in this video is saying “I am the shit almost nobody can match me and I know everything there is to know”. You’re over here talking about how you look stupid if you show up in a new uniform. Well the point of Reenacting is to live history and learn about history in the process. New guys getting into it are dropping several thousand dollars on equipment that they need to be able to serve them through many different types of events. Like for myself my unit actually does events where they portray they’re in basic training or the new guys are replacement’s. They don’t need to have dirty uniforms for those rolls. If they the. go dirty there uniforms like you they can’t go back and accurately portray that impression again with it. A lot of people can’t afford more than one uniform starting out so if you can only have one it should probably be clean not tore to shit because it will for more roles that way. You probably discouraged a shit tone of people with your mouth just now. Living history is already such a small community its probably not a good idea to turn anybody away being cockey like this. I know if I had not already started in this hobby I would have watched this and thought “damn I want no part of that shit if your not just perfect they Ridicule you”
I could go off and be rude or something like you did. But instead I'm going to understand that a lot of people commented how much they love my video. If you have such a big problem with this that's on you dude.
