by replacing sethc.exe with cmd.exe and pressing shift until cmd opens, you can force create a domain/workgroup making it able to log in to the desktop (the reason why it didnt create a domain/workgroup was because windows xp was in setup and doing the network related stuff is both at the "finalizing settings" part of the setup and oobe, windows vista setup just assumed you had windows xp fully setup with a workgroup)
The part of booting back to the windows xp setup after installing windows 7 sounds pretty fun to me, is it okay if I make a video on it and credit you for the idea?
In short context, yes but this means that Windows XP's setup process is capable of running and complete almost anything, which is the goal of this experiment
Microsoft went down hill after Windows 7 my anxiety is through the roof because of this now people wanting to switch to Linux man idk how much of Microsoft I can handle modernist don't realize that Aero Effects help promoted the environment and made everything more vibrant and colorful now it was taken away. At least using Linux I can make myself look like I am using Windows 7 on Linux Mint Cinnamon or provide a futuristic environment that puts modern Windows 1o shame.
if you use a vista iso but replace the install.wim with one from a windows 7 iso, you might be able to force it to upgrade to 7, which would make this even more cursed. i might try this...
Well, if you can't update windows xp to 7 directly, maybe you should try vista? Updating something that isn't even installed would be more interesting.
For a second, I thought you meant installing another OS after another was installed, which is easy, but your experiment is interesting but it's unfortunately impossible (as 2 VMs would start a conflict between each other, resulting 1 VM to work or just not work at all).
