I now have a new problem, ive gotten the game to boot up and get to the choose a language screen but when it does it either instantly crashes or it freezes and then crashes
Figured it out. On the samsung s23 ultra for some reason folders are "locked" so apps don't have access to them regardless of whether they have permissions or not so you'll need to edit your container, slide over to drives, and make a new folder for it to access

Is there something I can do? --- Edit-2: The solution from @adamlindley98 worked for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thank you for all the hard work on creating this, and the tut video! This still works great, I just had to change the some of the path separators from backslashes to forward slashes when doing the "Go to folder" step. So that would be changing "\" to "/" in all instances.
if many of you are having issues with errors, DO NOT COMPRESS MULTIVERSE FILES IF SAFARI IS DOWNLOADING THEM AND OPENING THEM AUTOMATICALLY. you have to turn off "open safe files after downloading" and then redownload multiverse files so they naturally appear in your finder as zip files, without having to be compressed. hope this helps someone
Is slug chan like an actual character or smth I could never figure out the context of that appearing on the main menu cause it doesn't resemble any in game slugs and looks feminine despite all slugs identifying as male.
As a native english speaker your accent is 100% understandable and you should not hate it!!! :D Also thank you so much for this tutorial, very in-depth and I had no issues whatsoever. <3
@@bradleynorris8335 I'm hearing such compliments more and you guys have no idea what that means to me. Each of them boosts my confidence. Over the time I became more open to speak english online. Thanks
I've followed the instructions and when I launch the game it says : "missing hyperspace.xml" and then launches without the multiverse mod, it's just the vanilla game a little bugged... I don't know what I did wrong.
update : I fixed the "missing hyperspace.xml" by adding the hyperspace mod as well but multiverse doesn't load and it puts a lot errors saying th mod doesn't append it clobbers
I've followed the instructions but when i boot from SMM and it says "FTL is now downgraded and should load with hyperspace". I click ok and nothing happens (game doesn't boot). If i double click wrapper after that, it tells me it needs downgrading --> ok --> "FTL is now downgraded and should load with hyperspace". Over and over, endless loop ... any thoughts?
I did everything and got the "missing hyperspace.xml" popup. I went ahead and deleted the .wine folder, but I continue to get the same popup every time. Do you know how to fix this?
It works exceptionaly, only issue i found was with your shortcuts there was now way to take power out of a system, would be nice if there was a keycombination for keybinds
I followed all instructions to the letter, but when I direct the mod manager (1.9.1) to open the hyperspace wrapper, it says "FTL files not found" and closes down. Any idea how to correct this?
when trying to run the downgrader it says access denied and further down it says couldn't write to ROM. Are you on a read-only medium. I have tried changing the permissions of the drop ftl files here folder, but that didnt fix the issue. Any ideas? EDIT: For anyone one who runs into this issue: MacOS has a security feature called App Translocation that can sometimes cause issues with file paths. If you’re running the application directly from the downloaded location, MacOS may be translocating it to a read-only location. To avoid this, move the application to a different location (e.g., your Applications folder) and try running it again.
Hi! Very nice tutorial, I've succesfuly followed all the steps until pressing okay after the downgrade process was complete. However, there seems to be an error: "failed to find address for function AchievementTracker : : GetShipAchievements." After I click OK on it, nothing else happens. I will note I am trying to play FTL captains edition and not FTL multiverse atm. That may be the main problem, however, if you could spare the time to help deal with this, I would be quite grateful. Thanks a lot! EDIT: I found the solution to this problem on reddit - had to remove hyperspace.dll file from the FTL folder and now it runs.
At 4:32 to 5:52, if anyone has FTL on GoG, here is how I made it work for me. I dowloaded the Windows FTL files on my Windows VM (I couldn't find a way to have the correct files just by downloading the Windows version on my mac) , and manually downgraded it to version 1.6 using GoG (for some reason the automatic downgrader didn't work for me, prob something with GoG). I then copied all FTL files in the "Drop FTL Here" folder and continued with the process shown in the video.
Thats pretty much what you should to anyways, just that you can Download the windows version from gog on macos somehow (at least thats what I was told)
Thanks for this guide, it was very easy to follow and I've got FTL up and running. One question though, I've used your keymap ICP file, and it doesn't seem to have that many keys in the file compared to the screenshot image of the buttons you've mapped. Has this been changed in recent months since you created this video? There's only keys for the crew, pause, and a few of the main ship/store/menu buttons. There's nothing for weapons or system controls etc. Thanks.
@@thedumbdino9224 I just have never used Mac before and it had weird rules for downloading and installing progams because it's technically a work laptop. Your tutorial was phenomenal though!
Help! I had to restart my laptop during this process, now I can no longer locate the "Drop-FTL-Here" folder. it does not come up with a search, and if I relaunch the Wrapper it just starts unmodded FTL.
Found the fix - for anyone else having the same problem. Navigate to where you dropped the wrapper after dragging it out of the DMG (for me i put it in applications). Right click the wrapper (not the dmg) and click show package contents. Folder was right there
now do Starsector Modding Slander so many clownass "scandals"... so much forum user narcissism and forum mod corruption... all the instances of modders including crash code and getting away with it because the moderators are their friends... it gives me conniptions
I changed the small autofire toggle button (the version shown when you have 2 or less weapon slots on a ship), two pixels were miscolored, and I noticed and made a PR to fix that, and this wasn’t hard at all.
Please don't be offended if I mentioned you in the video. Also one typo: 1:36 "Voice channel topic the moment three or more Hyperspace people enter the chat"
I'm so bad with computers I don't think i've ever been able to download mods before without wanting to die. This is the best tutorial i've ever seen you seem really smart but also you somehow know what i'll be confused about and explain it right when I need it. so good so straight forward thank you 10/10
Bro can I donate to you for your work. As an engineer I appreciate that you took the time to make something I am too lazy to do lol. Thank you so much for your work man.
So when I try this it won't open the steam console to download the windows version. What should I do? I have the mac version so now I'm stuck. Do I need to find another way to get it? Or can I open steam console manually?
You have to open steam first and paste "steam://nav/console" into your top bar like you would open a link and then it will automatically Open. Otherwise there must be an issue
