What a pile Chris. Skip Spence is an all-time favorite lp, and my 2nd favorite psych lp of all time. A must! Same with Gary Higgins of course and I am a fan of that Open Mind. It reminds me of that Magic Mixture lp I know you picked up. I want originals of both. And the RL, well done!
Let me voice my admiration for the guitarist right here, Roger's vocals might be lacking, but this riff is legendary. Just imagine trying to step into David's shoes for a night, let alone a whole tour...
thanks.. i can't wait to get home to listen to all these records.. i found a bunch yesterday and today.. including another LZ II RL.. $45. Hoping no skips..
Very generous of you to pick up that Led Zeppelin II for someone else, since you already have a VG+ copy. That's an awesome hat. I remember Mr. Flood's Party from high school English class....it's a poem by E.A. Robinson. Kind of depressing.
Hey there.. thanks for the note.. i actually have a whitel label promo copy and a stock vg+/VG+, both rl/rl. I've never found one in the wild until this one. I hope it plays well and then I will gift it :)
The middle is the way. There are virtues on both sides and there are errors in both extremes. Anyone making a fixed decision is simply basing it on preference.
Really interesting information. I’m a huge fan of all three of the Elevator’s albums (and Roky’s solo career). I currently have that double 2022 of both the first and second album. I’ve heard some very abused originals but I’m sticking with these unless I stumble upon a nice og. Any recommendations on the third album. I had a cassette copy years ago but it’s lost to time. Any reissues worth seeking? Great video. Cheers. Shawn
hey there.. thank you.. are talking the live album.. or bull of the woods? I really enjoy bull of the woods.. i have an og, the 2022 and some 80's unknown reissue.. Not sure what is the best sounding of that.. I defer to the OG though for sure..
Wow, fantastic run through Chris. original Magic Mixture, that's a biggie. Do I still have that reissue??? I have that Cecil Taylor and I do enjoy it, maybe not as much as Unit Structures but an interesting one. Don't think I've seen Sub Pop 100 in the flesh. Worth the early entry!
Wow man, _incredible_ Dead collection! 😎 I'd love to find some boots, but I've never seen any out in the wild. Never got to see the Dead, but I've seen Dead & Co. 3 times. Have fun at the show! 🍻
Thanks Man.. I can't wait to see it.. you've never seen some of these boots in the wild? where do you live?? I still see them often but I'm in Los angeles..
Thanks... I never see SP 100 but I've seen SP 200 a handful of times in LA.. I think both had a pressing of 5000? I've never seen Deep Six in the wild.
First off. I would love to have a shop like that in my area. Great finds!! That paisleys lp is simply Devine. One of my favorite psych lps in my collection. What a find!!
Great shootout, thanks guys! 😎 It's really hard for me to pick a "favorite", but probably the US if I absolutely had to pick just one. The UK's are a little darker, but I personally prefer it a little brighter, but not too bright like the Rhino can be (at times). I have 3 different copies - a Rhino HiFi, US Artisan (Greenie Pitman), & UK WWA (with Vertigo stampers) pressing and enjoy them all... I wouldn't sell any of them. 🤷 If anyone missed out on the Rhino or don't care for it, I'd say grab a clean Greenie or UK WWA, which are both pretty affordable. 👍
Great video guys that UK Vertigo is a beast wish I could find that pressing. The White label sounds very nice love your comparisons very nice collection of record pressings
I love Zep III particularly the acoustic side 2. Interesting to hear about the Sub Pop label. Like you, I rarely pick up original Jazz titles, usually opting for reissues.
Yeah, that Zep III lp is pretty great.. I do have many OG Blue Notes but prices just have gone through the roof the past 10 years.. Those early reissues are a great alternative for sure.. but there is something special about picking up a great OG.
