We love to visit France and wander around the delightful villages, towns and cities both well known and those places that you've never heard of. Our videos reflect our explorations and observations and hopefully provide a gentle, relaxing flavour of the beautiful places we have visited and enjoyed. We hope that viewers feel that they are walking with us as we explore and enjoy our surroundings.
We live about 20 minutes from the port of Dover, Kent and visit 3-4 areas of France each year. It is quicker for us to go to Honfleur in Normandy than St Ives in Cornwall. The videos come as a result of impending old age and also the need to do something positive with loads of photos and videos that can end up on the hard drive and never see the light of day. I generally end up learning more about the places we visit whilst making these videos that I do when actually visiting.
I'm currently working on a video for English-speakers in Charente, about the town of La Rochefoucauld. If it would be okay to use some excerpts of this video please let me know, I will credit you with the footage on my channel. Lovely to see the interiors of the château as they wouldn't let me film there. Merci!
Hi, as far as I'm concerned you're welcome to use the footage, not sure of the legalities of it all but I'm sure you'll check. Good luck with your video.
That was fantastic. Thank you so much. This is so strange. I've just written a novel set in 1590 where my main character passes through Vézelay on his way to the Hôtel Dieu in Beaune. I've never seen Vézelay but I imagined it for the novel ... and it's not just like the village but exactly how I'd seen it in my head and have it written on the page. I'm bit over awed to be honest, thank you again.
Hi, that's amazing, Vezelay is truly special so a wonderful location to include in your novel. Interestingly we also visited Beaune on this trip so a video will be following in due course. Good luck with the novel, I hope it is successful.
@@Pete827sli Thank you, very much. I appreciate that. Vezelay looks majestical and I hope to visit it one day too. I look forward to your video on Beaune, another place on my list.
Thanks for the video. I lived in Saint-Junien from Sep 2017- May 2018- I was a Spanish assistant from Colombia in two schools in the city, it was an amazing experience.
Another nice video. Have driven past Saint-Junien on the N141 countless times to visit family in Limoges but never stopped there, so it's nice to see what it's actually like. Thanks for uploading!
I visited that wonderful place three times. But I fully enjoyed this fourth visit, and the memories that came back with it. Very beautiful videowalk, as usual.
There's also a great guitarist in Varaignes, Lorn Sade who plays improvisations on the guitar like we've never heard . ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eFliC7qITcE.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P9hx2plwmkQ.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ph_47dcniKs.html
Been there a few times. What a pleasure to be able to visit it once more by a video that perfectly renders the unique medieval place. Very well done. Enjoyed every second of it !
Another wonderful video, Peter. The Loire Valley is so spectacular. Your son, Harry is a gifted musician and singer. Tell him from me, that he has the flavour of Fleetwood Mac during the Peter Green era and The Beatles. His music is very emotive and evocative. Is his music available for download? Cheers to you and your wife. Looking forward to the next posting! William
Hi William, Thank you for your support and lovely comments. Harry is heavily influenced by the 70's and has been making music for years. A new album is due out but here are links to earlier works: harryhayesharryhayes.bandcamp.com/ stirrathayesbaileybaynes.bandcamp.com/album/alive-in-the-brush Last video from Loire today then onto Burgundy and the region around Dijon which is also very beautiful. Dijon is one of the best cities we have so far visited. we have just returned from a week in La Rochelle followed by a further week in the Yonne near Troyes, so plenty more to come. Kind regards Pete & Sam Hayes
Thank you for this wondrous tour of a magical place. I've long been fascinated by the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Too bad they weren't there to greet you, but looks like you only just missed them.
My partner and I are Americans who love to walk in France. We just discovered your RU-vid videos and find them beautiful, informative, and just the thing to help get us excited about our next trip! We are impressed (and a little jealous) of all the places you've visited. We've been traveling to France together since 2005, and there is no chance of getting tired of this beautiful country in our lifetimes. Thanks so much for the sneak preview of places we are planning to visit this year, including Blois!
Thank you for your lovely comments. We are very lucky that we live about half an hour from the Port of Dover so France is a couple of hours from our front door. Agree absolutely with the beauty of this country we never tire of it. We are about to go to La Rochelle for a week and the onto Troyes. Blois is a delight, enjoy!
are there any families with the French surname Gareau Who live in this area? My last name is Gareau and would love to find out if they are related to me
We just discovered your channel and can’t get enough! Have subscribed and will like every video and comment as you two deserve many more viewers and subscribers. Continued success and enjoyment on your travels.
Peter! The e The way the light was captured and contrasted against the shadows and darker backgrounds was a feast for the eyes. Unsure if that was unintentional or if you are a knowledgeable videographer but this video pops. I am watching it in 4K as well which no doubt heightens the experience. Cheers!
Hi William, thank you for your lovely comment and observations. I wish I was a knowledgeable videographer but I'm really a point and shoot guy, I was very lucky that day that the September sunshine lit up the town and made it look very magical. If you look at some of my other videos you'll observe that it also rains at times but I carry on regardless! Thank you again for your kind words. Pete
Your vignettes are beautifully shot. No noise to distract from the beauty of the place. No shaky camera and no pretentious commentary! Very lovely indeed. It's nice to see these small jewels that may otherwise have been overlooked. Well done Que Dieu Ta Benisse de Canada!
Io mi chiamo Montresor e penso ragionevolmente che i miei antenati siano partiti da li e arrivati in Italia nei dintorni di Verona. Verrò prima o poi a ritrovare le mie radici ❤
Thank you for sharing your adventures. I like your music choice. One suggestion: the interior shots would be easier to view if they were each at least 5 seconds long. It jumps too fast from one scene to the next. Still, very lovely.
Thanks for your constructive comments. I do spend a lot of time chasing the right music which is always a challenge with non copywrite only. Regarding short clips I'll give that some thought, I've generally tried to keep things sharp and punchy but maybe slower is better for content, anyway it's very useful get feedback as I am a complete novice. Many thanks.
