Sometimes it's just hard to get your head back in the game. I'm currently experiencing this too. But every week is a new week! Here's to a positive week ahead.

Looking at the graph at 3:13 it looks like you were on a weight loss journey weeks 0-200, then were maintaining up and down between weeks 200-300 and now actually have been on a fairly steady weight gain journey since week 300. Its just baffling to think how long you have been trending in the wrong direction (3 years) but continue to stick to roughly the same plan, and seem convinced that its suddenly going to start giving you different results. If you were being honest with yourself do you really want to lose the weight at this point or is the RU-vid weight loss journey just something that you do now more out of habit to keep it going, because its been part of your life for so long. One thing for sure that's ruining your progress is black hole Saturday, so many weeks you would have had a good result if Saturday had just been at the 2500 calories instead of 3000-3500+. You would be so much better off working in a little treat most days within the calorie limit instead of having this free for all day that is constantly sabotaging your progress.

You should do 18/6 fasting with focus on protein and zero sugar. Do 10k steps and weight training. The snack doing the day can be an apple or banana. That will work.
@StuUnwin
@StuUnwin 11 дней назад
Hi Frederik, I really do appreciate the suggestion that you've left me, but as you seen in my video I follow a well known UK based weight loss organisation plan. Fasting isn't something for me, however achieving 10k steps each day is my target. However, admittedly this is something I've been falling short on for a while now, which I'm trying to remedy. The weight training is an interesting, I think relatively low weight high reps will probably aid my weight loss journey. Thank you for taking the time to leave me your supportive message, that does truly mean a lot to me. Enjoy the rest of your week, speak to you later. All my best, Stu.

I wouldn’t go to extreme you say, but I agreed with his food choices. The orange juice a big no no. Pasta should be avoided and could be easily swapped for brown rice.. and cornflakes should only be a very occasional treat. Eggs would be much better, or any other protein source. He’s lack knowledge that will limit his success, because those small choices could’ve drastically changed the outcome of the week

Hi Jade, I really do appreciate the suggestion that you've left me, but as you seen in my video I follow a well known UK based weight loss organisation plan. I enjoy following this plan, because it's not resistive and I can still eat all the foods that I enjoy, but it has to be accounted for within my daily allowances. You'll never loose weight eating these foods! Corn flakes, pasta, salad and orange juice will just cause your blood sugar to spike and you'll feel hungry all the time. Go on a zero carbohydrate high fat/protein diet (i.e. a carnivore diet). Cut out all processed foods, avoid plants (they make us fat). Only eat whole animal foods and plenty of animal fats. Eat as much as you want (until you are full), and eat as often as you want. Eat plenty of salt too, as you will lose a lot of water and minerals on a ketogenic diet. Dont bother counting calories, you will know when you've had enough food. I guarantee with 100% certainty that you'll lose a substantial amount of weight in 6 months. If you want to speed the process, combine with intermittent fasting (it's much easier than you think when eating a nutrient dense diet). I know this because I did it and know many others that have done the same. Truly, any other diet regime is going to be a complete failure.

The year is on its way to winding down, have you thought at all about what a realistic goal is for the remainder, knowing that you like to let loose a bit during the holidays? I think it might be useful to focus on a shorter period of time and try to really tighten up and go into next year with some momentum. You've got about three months left (I'm not including the holiday period here) so what do you think you might be able to lose during that time? 20 pounds? 25? Just a thought.

If you want loose weight, eat only fatty beef steaks or minced beef meat. Do you like steaks ? Can you afford it ? And eggs, as much you want, some better salt, Himalayan, Celtic Sea Salt, drink lot of water. Because loosing weight is not about counting calories, its about eating things that will not allow you to gain weight. Your body wil correct weight automatically, but you must eat what you need to eat. Fatty meat, pork, lamb, lot of fat, fatty beef is best. Dont be scarred, fat will help you loose weight, not carbs.
@StuUnwin

Hi m33265, yeah I do enjoy a nice steak every once and a while. But I don't enjoy eating fatty meat, I nearly always trim the fat off. I just don't like the taste of it. So I never end up eating any of the crackling, if I end up having a roast pork dinner. Go pie chart go, you can go green! Hopefully you can get some good healthy food in Germany. Would you mind sharing what carbs you ate instead of bread? (I'm simply curious as to what you had.) I know that lately I've found that bread bloats me too, YUM bread, so have been having less bread but more potatoes and legumes and fruit instead for some of my bread portions per day. Funnily enough, adding a piece of fruit every day has curbed my sweets cravings too/ (Unless I'm hormonal and then all bets are off!)

Hi My Midlife Musings. Yeah my pie chart has been hovering at the top within the blue for a while, it would be nice to nudge it back over into the green. I did do my best on making the best food choices possible whilst I was in Germany. Bread is one of my main weaknesses, whenever I eat some during the working week (Monday to Friday) I nearly always see a weight gain result on Saturday morning. If I eat one or two packets of crisp during the week that can have a negative effect on my weight at the end of the week. I enjoy a jacket potato with my meals, but I personally find even having these during week can result in a gain result for me. It's typically always all the foods I really enjoy that end up gaining me weight. haha. Yeah easily eat 5+ portions of fruit and vegetables every day. Which is good, because I'd rather fill up of the green stuff rather than the beige stuff. haha. Thanks for your continued support, that really does mean a lot to me. The good news is that you probably didn't gain 3 actual pounds of fat. Some of that will just be carbs and salt that will come off. And you have 4 more months to make this a solid year where you make real progress, so that's good too. But you know that you did not make the greatest choices. In terms of getting your fluid in, you could get an insulated water bottle that you could bring with you in the car or even at the job site (assuming you're not in a very formal environment; though those usually have water provided.) In terms of your meals...yes you can't meal prep on a work trip but surely there were better choices than a cheeseburger Even small villages have things like grilled chicken or lean cuts of steak. Ready sandwiches are tougher but there are usually some not so bad choices like turkey or even egg salad. One week is one week and you'll be fine. But as I've said in the past you are currently in a longer term cycle of stagnation. It has been quite a while since you lost significant weight, and if you go back into your old videos months or even years you'll see you keep cycling up and down. That's the issue rather than one week. I'm not saying this to make you feel bad because you have lost a lot of weight and kept it off. That's impressive and has improved your quality of life and your health. A lot of people gain it all back and you haven't, so you should be proud of that. But you're also not where you want to be and the question I leave you with is: Do you think what you're doing is working given how long it has been since you've made sustained progress. And if it's not working is there something else you can do or some modification you can make so that it will start working again? At a certain point just "I need to be more consistent" may not be the answer because you've been trying that for a long time, right? I really am not trying to be a jerk. But I think you make these videos in part to get feedback and keep a record, and if what you're doing isn't working then it may be worth trying something else.

Hi Friendyghost75. I hope I haven't gain 3 pounds of solid fat too. Yeah only 4 months left of this year, where has it gone, this year has flown by. I would like to see the last 4 months of this year be solid with good weight losses and go somewhere to losing the 50 pound target I set myself at the start of the year. No, I didn't make the best choices whilst I was on my business trip except for the x2 occasions where I ordered Greek salads. I was ordering from the set menu in my hotel. Fluid consumption is always a big challenge for me when on trips. I always ask for glasses of water during the meetings/visits. But I struggle drinking the volume that I would normally do when in the office. You're 100% right I do make this video's to help me stay accountable and importantly read the feedback/messages people leave me. To answer your question, honestly, no I don't think what I'm doing at this moment in time is working for me. I definitely don't want to regain all the weight I've lost so far, like what I've done on previous weight loss attempts. And I don't want this journey to be another one of those attempts. I want this journey to be the one where I finally conquer the war I've been having with all of my unwanted excess weight all my life. Yes, I feel healthier for the weight that I've lost so far. I've always wanted this journey to be enjoyable for me, because the others weren't where I made large cuts to my calorie intake and stupid amounts of activity. It wasn't; sustainable and it certainly wasn't enjoyable and the end result I felt rubbish and I regained all the weight lost very quickly plus a hell of a lot more to boot. I nervous of that situation happening again, because I want to continue to move forward and not undo all the hard work I've done so far. I don't think you're a jerk for what you've said, I really appreciate your honest and supportive message that you've left me. It does help me put things into perspective. Thank you for your continued support, that really does mean a lot to me. Enjoy your up and coming week, speak to you later. Take care and stay safe, Stu.

Hi Stu, I realize that work trips can be challenging but what stops you from going for a walk either before the work day starts or after you get back to the hotel/Airbnb during these trips? Yes the days can be busy but unless you're in the middle of something that's all consuming like negotiating a merger (which doesn't seem to be your business) usually there is some time to yourself. If you're scheduled to meet at 7:30 for breakfast you can always get up at 6, go for an hour walk, then have half an hour to shave, brush, and dress. Or whatever your schedule requires. Nights can be more difficult because sometimes those work dinners can go into the wee hours, but if formal work ends at 5:30 and then you meet up for dinner at 8 that often gives you a window to go for a walk then too. Hotels also often have fitness centers with treadmills you can use. If this is important to you make it a priority. I say this because I want you to succeed and I believe you can.

Hi Friendlyghost75. You're right, there isn't anything really stopping me from going for a walk before or after work. I had some early morning starts whilst on this trip, where I had to be at our supplier for 6AM. So I prefer to get as much sleep as possible and not get up early to do a walk. I was typically getting back to the hotel around 6PM on most days and honestly just wanted to have my evening meal and relax in the hotel room. So I could have fit something in, in the evening I guess. Yes, usually depending on the hotel you're staying at you can find and use the fitness centre. There wasn't anything like that in the small village hotel I was staying in. I want to succeed too and realise I have to put the effort in to see the positive result I want to see. I really do appreciate your supportive message, they do mean a lot to me. Enjoy the rest of your week, speak to you later. Take care and stay safe, Stu.

Hi Craig, the discrepancy between weigh-in happens from time to time, but normally 0.5 pound. The time between weigh in results is around 3 hours. I don't eat or drink anything between weigh-in and I normally don't use the restroom facilities during this time either. Hi Stu, I have a tracker that uses the calorie in information and your weight changes week to week to find out what your calorie expenditure figure actually is. Running your last 8 weeks worth of data through it, its calculating your actual average calories out as 2,486 a day. So having your average calories in target/limit set at the 2,500 is the reason you are struggling to see progress currently. Realistically if you wanted to have a nice steady, sustainable weight loss (500 cals a day) you would want your average calories in for a week to be around 2,000 calories or as close to that as you can. Hope that helps. Like others here I just want to see you get moving in the right direction and build up some momentum again.
@StuUnwin
@StuUnwin Месяц назад
Hi SuPhCh, yeah that's right even though weekly average calorie consumption target is set at 2,500. I realise over the last number of weeks that this does need to come down a little. So I have been trying to hit between 2,200 and 2,300 calories as an average. I've always had a big reluctance to make large cuts to my calorie intake. Because I tried that in a previous weight loss attempt many years ago. Yes I lost weight, but as expected during that last journey my body kept adapting and then I would hit another plateau. So over that I increased activity and then when I hit the next plateau I reduced calories again or increased activity again. After 2 years of doing that I was mentally and physically exhausted and I was constantly feeling run down and catching colds left, right and centre. But even though during this two years I lost 8 stone, it didn't take very long for me to regain it all and much much more. That's why on this journey I've been in it for the long game/haul and trying to not repeat history. I now I need to get out of the rut I seem to be currently in. I too want to get back moving in the right direction and build up some momentum once again. Thank you for your continued support and supportive message, that does mean a lot to me. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, speak to you later. Take care and stay safe, Stu.

You clearly need help. Weight loss is only about eating foods what will not allow your body to gain weight, your body will manage your weight itself, if you will do it right. Its not about counting calories, its not about excercise, you must start eating right foods. Find video "butter will make your pants fall off" on youtube. And start eating right way - protein, fat and low or no sugars, but not only sugar - pastas, bakery, noodles, all processed foods (hidden sugar), sodas, especially glucose-fructose syrup... Weight loss is not about starving. You can loose weight and eat 5000 or more calories a day. Overfed (by energy) and malnutrished (by nutrients). Definition of obesity. What to eat to loose weight ? Eggs (50 a day if you want), fatty red meat (beef is the best), butter, lard, some fish, some white meat (but have low fat), bacon, animal organs. Carnivore diet. See some videos. Every (poly - di-) sacharide, fructose, starch, all ends in blood like higher glucose or higher insulin. Higher glucose in your blodd or high insulin and your burning of fatty acids (fat is made from them) ends. You must allow to your body use fatty acids as source of energy. Body burning fatty acids = body loosing weight. It ends whenever you gives your body sacharide of any kind, blocks your fat burning for few hours, it depends on how your insulin works. You have insulin resistance and metabolic dissease for sure. You seem like big guy. I dont know your optimal weight but your optimal weight multiplied by 1,75 grams of protein (minimum amount) a day or 2 grams (optimal amount). So if one pound of beef steak have approx 90-100 grams of protein, one egg have 6 grams of protein, use this two foods as your daily meal base for giving enough protein to your body every single day. Eat this every day plus something above, but minimum of carbs and carbs not in every meal. Eggs prepared on butter, lot of butter every morning. You dont need single gram of exogenous carbs a day, you dont need single gram of fiber. Stop this two things, dont trust these lies about "bad animal cholesterol", its nonsense. Body knows exactly how much cholesterol your body needs. Find "prof Bart Kay" on youtube, this man is a beast.

Hi m33265; thanks for leaving me your every detailed message. I agree to see the best weight loss results, will be seen from the making the best food choices first. Activity will aid with with the losses, but its contribution to seeing healthy consistent weight losses is far smaller compared to making the right food choices. Enjoy the rest of your week, speak to you later. All my best, Stu.
