It's a toyota ?! no wonder it has 100 thousand miles on it. Toyota's are some of the longest lasting vehicles out there, That thing could be an amazing camper when fully restored.
I have no idea how this turned out, i just started watching the video, but that is one pretty rare, cool camper with the more car like front end.. DRUEL.. that thing could be really nice.
Kevun did you ever consider teaching at a tech school for adults, you have a gift at your age were it might take years for a master mechanic would that was older
I grew up with a 99 ford courier 2.6 petrol wasn't quick top speed of about 110kph and kept going with little attention to 450,000km when it was sold on. Was a good car now I have the 2024 toyota hilux 2.7 petrol and about the same 😂
I had a '94 Explorer with those factory automatic 4 wheel drive hubs. They started self engaging while driving down the highway. You want to talk about severe grinding and banging noises coming from the front end. It would make the steering wheel jump in your hand. At the time Ford wanted almost $400 a piece for new hubs. WARN sold a manual conversion kit to replace those hubs for under $400 complete for both sides. You still had to use the button on the dash to engage the transfer case, but you also had to get out and lock the hubs in. They were stronger than the factory auto hubs and never gave me another issue.
You are doing a head job on a 5.7 diesel, which are notorious for blowing head gaskets, without checking ( or decking ) the block and heads. I wonder how long she'll last before she's chooching smoke out of the tailpipe like a steam engine. 💭 💭 💭 💭 💭 🤔 😂
We gas gas swapped a beautiful 98 Regency woth a 403 back about 1990. I loved the car. It was white woth the gorgeous blue button pillow upholstery. It would run way faster than the mechanical limits of the 120 speedo. I very narrowly avoided a stop, and no doubt arrest for reckless driving, I know now that is not.the purpose of the 405 even at 3am.😬
is the o/d light burnt out? if the transmission detects any kind of slip it will go into limp mode and raise the line pressure, and the light will start blinking. also if there's an issue with your speedometer, I had a 93 with a bad speedometer fuse and the transmission was doing the exact same thing, changed the fuse and it was good to go.
When I needed head gaskets for the Chevrolet 350 diesel from the 19 80/2 ton we have I called the local Chevrolet dealer The next day they said my parts were in. I was surprised it was still carried by the dealer.
The only motorhome with steel crash protection is interesting since near me a few years back, Balsam NC? a cop responding to a call slammed his cruiser into a motorhome and survived, but killed both occupants of the motorhome. So hardly a school bus was it?
This thing belongs in a museum IMO, are there any museums of shitty failed products that might take this thing and put it on display? Also I think the reason why Rock Auto says small block chevy headgaskets are the only headgaskets available for the Olds Diesel is because the reason why the engine is so horrible is because GM literally just converted the small block chevy engine into diesel with almost no modifications besides the ones stated in this video. Due to the rate at which it combusts, diesel engines shake a LOT so they need to be built more solidly in other to not shake itself to death and make itself fall apart, which is exactly what the OIds diesel does.
I love you guys and the videos inspire me alot you guys make it look easy and fun to fix cars amazingly but I care about you guys and want y'all to live long and healthy so please try and stay out that smoke and wear smoke masks atleast for your safety would be great keep up the videos I will continue liking and watching super cool thanks for inspiring me
I love watching your videos because I see that you are a natural engineer. There is mechanics and then there is engineers. Your solutions regarding the mechanics, electrical and fluids are phenomenal and your insights are far above many people I've seen. I grew up in a family of mechanics. My three Mercedes mechanic uncles took my 1984 Ford Ranger truck completely apart one weekend as a present to me and at 16 years old, if I wanted to drive, I had to put it together. I once replaced an alternator on the Williamsburg bridge in under 20 minutes, in winter in the middle of the bridge, blocking a lane. I love your videos. Keep it up!
I have a 89 Silverado that was a barn find it's been sitting in my grandpa's Barn for 10 years and when I was 14 me and my Dad pulled it out and now I drive it daily but I'm only 16 so not very long it's a small block Chevy so it's basically invincible all we needed to do was put some new spark plugs in it and change the fuel filter
Apart from the high idle, check the speed sensor on the rear differential. A squirrel or chipmunk chewed through my wires once and it slammed hard when it up-shifted.
He could swap engines with the Burnt Turd 250 Nova, but the motor home might need lower gears to climb hills with a 250. I think it could still hit 55 on the interstate though, at least with a few upgrades.
