Nouncer98 is secretly Mike Bohan, a radio & TV talent in Nashville, TN. He had the extremely good fortune to work at Nashville broadcast outlets when they were at their peak: 1300/WMAK in the 70s, WSM-AM-FM-TV in the 80s, and WSIX-FM with Gerry House from 1995 to 2010.
As an 77 yr. old adult, I now see what a stupid commercial this was. Pigs are grossly abused from birth to their horrible deaths. Youthful ignorance is bliss.
I watched MISC as a kid! The episode I most remember was when Pat Sajak joined you two for a game of Monopoly. I *think* I'm remembering that correctly, anyway.
My mom would tell me that when i was just barely able to walk that I would hear this song and no matter where I was in the house I would run to the TV, and pretend to march and play the drum... LOL What a great ad!
When I was a small child, I rode with my Daddy lots of times hauling pigs from the farm here to Frosty Morn in Clarksville, TN. There was a kitchen beside the unloading ticket house..they made and gave away Sausage and Biscuits. Parts of the place is still standing.
And you had not a clue of the horror that would be going o inside ... for those hapless animals, at least. Me neither. Until more recently I saw the "undercover" videos.
I lived in Jackson Tn back in the early 60s when I was little, only a couple of miles from the Kelly plant. When the wind was just right you could smell what they were cooking at the Kelleys.
I loved this commercial when I was a child. Later I saw the irony of having pigs celebrate their slaughter, but with the innocence of early childhood, it never occurred to me. (No, I'm not vegan...but it's still ironic.)
If I could have made the grocery list when I was 5: Kelly's, Frosty Morn, Tennessee Pride, N-E-S-T-L-E-S, Beechnut Fruit Stripe gum, anything that had a cartoon tv commercial.
I was raised by my grandparents and my grandfather worked for valleydale in Salem VA his entire life. We only ate Valleydale bacon, hotdogs and sausage and to this day, it is still the best to me. What is even sadder is he was able to buy a small home and support our entire family by working for Valleydale back then. That would never be possible now. Our country has fallen so far, but that is another topic.
He was on a show where he and my mom (an Elvira lookalike) were horror hosts together. Do you know if there may be copies of this anywhere? It was Scarytale Theater I think
Talk about stereotyping! My mother was of Irish catholic decent. And my woke snowflake side is outraged! Absolutely outraged! Gotta leave now. Going out to find other societal things that offends me and make a pest of myself. A glorious snowflake day!
I grew up in the city outside Salem, VA where the Valleydale plant was located. As a small child of 3 or 4, I would dance and “Shake Booty” when the commercial of the Valleydale Marching Pigs. It impressed me so that I started my Music Career in the 5th grade and every year thereafter thru 12th grade plus I moved EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!! Thank you Valleydale Pigs!! I have Never forgotten this in 65 years . On occasion I will get up and start marching and singing to the Valleydale Marching Pigs!! Again, Valleydale, thanks for All the Great Memories and Laughs.
I’ll never forget the jingle or the cartoon advertisement. Although I never thought of the implications of the little piggies WANTING (hoping?) to be slaughtered just to get a chance to be on my breakfast plate 😂🙄…It wouldn’t change my mind about having bacon/ham/sausage. In fact, ribs, pork chops, Boston butt, pork rinds…dang it, I’m getting hungry just thinking about it! 🐷🥓🍖🥡
