Just finished another watch earlier today. Really thoughtful ending. Literally took their time. One thing that strikes me after watching it again. As the show builds upon itself, there's such a palpable sense of what they have been through and what they have done. Another thin that struck me in this go around was when they went to "Hell" with Sokkar in the waiting. So well built as terrifying one-way trip. There were other one-way trip situations, but this one had a nice edge to it, and they seemed genuinely and appropriately reticent to do this thing that must be done. Respect all around.
When and why were these made? Given some of the in-show references, unresolved matter of the 9th chevron, and use of dated terms like DVD and tape, I'm guessing somewhere around mid-9th season. Were they meant to be inserts for one of the shows (a character watches him on a monitor)? Were they meant to promote syndication for SG1?
I salute Dr. Daniel Jackson and his actor Michael Shanks for their invaluable service to Stargate tabletop GM's everywhere when breaking in new players.
“Well you see we live in 3 dimensions plus time” “So 4 dimensions, then?” “NOOOO!!!! NOOO, definitely not, no” Vaguely related, but what the Borg Queen said about dimensions was so hilariously stupid
Weird that they had the Daniel character talk about all of this, would have been nice if they had the appropriate character present the related part. for example the science bits being done by Carter, and the stuff about hostile groups such as the Lucian Alliance presented by jack.
Huh. I never noticed. "There are 39 symbols representing star constellations as seen from Earth..." Yet these same symbols are used across the galaxy. Ergo the makers of the stargates came from Earth. So when the first dissection of Goa'uld larvae showed their biology did not match life on Earth, that would've proven that the Goa'uld did not make the stargates.
Oh hello wealthy Tau'ri investor. You are considering the benefits of tretonin in your home prefecture. Listen to this commercial. "I'm disrespectful to false gods. Can you see I'm serious?"
lol a future stargate episode could be about these videos being leaked on youtube by Dr David Greer who becomes responsible for the stargate program becoming public knowledge
In a time where we openly talk about UFO/(UAP and now that there might be living real aliens among us according to some professors.. makes this video a bit strange 🙂
1:25 Sam: "you know, as hard as it is for us, not knowing. It must be torture for you, not to tell us." Teal'c: "... indeed." UGh, this season wasn't perfect but fuck I love this ending. It gives us such a deep look into his mind with only one word. We saw everything he did(well, the important stuff) - we know how much he's suffering inside, because it's very obvious in his mind his original friends are dead. He's a stranger to this SG-1, he's their Teal'c, but they're not his SG-1. He keeps their memory alive, but out of respect for his friends, he doesn't gossip about their lives after they're gone. It really makes you imagine how many other scars he's hiding just beneath the surface, how many battles and comrades lost, how many atrocities he's committed under Apophis. If all he shows on the outside from all his time with them on that ship, is that little strip of silver hair, then every wrinkle on his forehead must tell a story. "Good things come to those who wait" Indeed.
