While growing up, Jamie was allowed to check out ALL the books from the public library, so whenever the real world turned too complicated, she escaped into other worlds full of zombies, apocalypses, portals, arcane mysteries, and quests for relics. Known for the bestselling Doormaker portal fantasy series, the Zombies Are Human apocalypse series, and most recently the After The World Ends series, her work has recently been optioned for TV. She lives in Northern California with her husband in an old brick house that may or may not be haunted.

I just discovered these books 5 days ago, and have been binging them, using every spare minute I’ve had! Well written! Very creative! The idea that the “Zombies” are still alive, as opposed to “Undead” is far more scientifically plausible, and therefore, requires far less of the typical ‘Suspense-Of-Disbelief’ that an average zombie thriller would. My hats off to you! Great plot, as well! Cannot wait to read more!
@@JamieThorntonAuthor I am so looking forward to it! I’m glad I could make your day! You made mine! Several of them, in fact, with your well crafted stories!
Sorry a Lefty women fretting about her relationship and garden are just not relatable to me. Give me a woman who understands life, accepts that evil people exist and doesnt have to go through the emotional trauma of justfying self defense. Not many people are looking for emotionally weak women to experience the apocalypse with. I know grief and love and the yearning of the heart BUT I CAN PUT THAT ASIDE TO DO WHAT MUST BE DONE IN AN EMERGECY. Sorry, Im out just as the zombies arrive....I cant bear to see idiots die of stupudity and weakness....
I'm going through these so fast... like 2 days each. I'm enjoying them quite a bit! I didn't expect a zombie story. I was searching dystopian fantasy. I'm glad I didn't read the "about" because I usually skip zombie stories. 😅
Woot! So glad you enjoyed the series. I hope to eventually write more in this universe. Maybe fast forward a few years and see what kind of trouble Dessa's brother gets into :)
So glad you enjoyed it! Book 0 is a prequel. It can be enjoyed at any time (before or after) the rest of the series and gives you a peek at how the apocalypse started for some of the other characters.
Nice! Ha yep you should recognize a lot of the spots. I used real places for the most part. Though I took some liberties with the underground tunnels in Old Sac 😜
Oh yeah then you might want to skip this series. The main character does mostly grow out of doing that after facing many obstacles, but not until about halfway through the books.
My favorite oddball way to measure quantity of books is from my best friend. He measured them by how many Rolling Suitcases it took to transport them. As a Navy Serviceman, he has to often move from base to base. So he figured that putting his books in Rolling Suitcases made it easier. The Day-Glo Orange one was his TBR stash. It weighed 66 pounds when he came back to Texas. His wife claimed that it was losing weight, but I personally didn’t believe her. Oh, his book collection used about 6 or 7 of those Suitcases. Surprisingly, that orange one was often the lightest. So No, it is not weird to measure books by weight.
Yessssss I love this so much. I am an EXPERT at packing a double paper grocery bag with books and did a lot of muscle building moving my book collection when I had to move residences. Why did I never think of rolling suitcases?!?!
@@JamieThorntonAuthor Because it goes against the Mindset that the Airlines have pushed since the 1950's. Because of the Airlines, everyone seems to NOT think of those Suitcases as an option for heavy loads when moving. The question is this: Which is cheaper, a set of rolling suitcases or the pain meds that NOT using them will cost?
Although it is captivating, it is draining and unsatisfying. Since it was free I really can't complain but I feel like I wasted several hours and would like to save others from the same fate. The story has potential but nothing good ever happens. And it's repetative. Maybe a better editor? And something good now and then?
Thanks for giving it a try. This series can be a bit dark until the light begins to shine through the characters and the story ... a bit later in the series. But it's not everyone's cup of tea!
What is the problem with Mayela character. She keeps saying she opened the door when it was her friend. Don't like how they main character is stupid from the start.
Thank you for sharing your work. I've put the whole series into my watch/listen later. I'm all set to listen. You do have a wonderful imagination. ❤❤❤❤😊
