Hey mate, cheers. She was a dream before I moved her along. I found it fine with the gear loaded up, had an aftermarket turbo to help it along. As for the suspension had an EFS extreme 4” setup. You can find my full walk around of the setup on my channel.

WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS THAT WAS - JUST DID MY 1997 3.0 TD , UK VERSION (if it makes a difference) - JUST RIDICULOUS LOCATION , CANT GET YOUR HANDS IN THERE , SO MUCH STUFF IN THE WAY , TOUGH TO GET OUT FROM THE TOP (snagged off a brake line , im sure ill need to bleed) - OF COURSE THE SOLENOID PARTS REPLACEMENT WAS EASY - HAVE TO WRESTLE IT BACK IN TMRW AS I GOT STOPPED BY A THUNDER STORM - I TOOK OFF THE AIR BOX and i think removing the oil filter would help a bit , so do an oil change at the same time

Awesome tutorial, looking forward to putting them on my new ute. What’s the product you used as a sealant before you put the tech screws in and also what size tech screws are they? Cheers
@forevercruisin6715
@forevercruisin6715 3 года назад
Hey mate. Sika-flex is the sealant I used which is a pretty common sealant/flexible joint you can grab from bunnings. As for the tek screws I’m pretty sure they were just a 6G or 8G 10mm. I’d recommend putting the spacing slightly closer than the video as one of mine has pulled out when someone lent on it. An easy fix but a couple of extra probably would have stopped this from happening. Good luck with it!

Hi Grover. In my 1994 DX 80 series, there is a hole in the bonnet for installing the strut, but it doesn't have a thread to screw the strut bolt into. I gather the strut bold doesn't simply self tap into the hole that is in the bonnet? It looks like there are threads for the body bolts no probs. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks Kym
@forevercruisin6715
@forevercruisin6715 3 года назад
Hi Kym, my bonnet had threads already in it so the gas struts just screwed straight in. Maybe it’s worth getting in contact with the gas strut guys or another supplier and see if they’ve encountered this problem before. Cheers, Jono.

@forevercruisin6715
@forevercruisin6715 3 года назад
Hi mate, only small issue I’ve had is had one screw pull out when someone leaned on the flare, so if I was to do them again I’d probably put the tex screws spacings a bit closer together
@jonathonbroad6478
@jonathonbroad6478 3 года назад
@@forevercruisin6715 yeah I planned on putting bulk in. My kit arrived today and I had a little look at it and I think I’m going to have dramas running it around the arch as it’s a weird shape (hilux tub) but I got garden edging from Bunnings as a dodgy backup until I can source some better flares. I’ll let you know how I go tomorrow 🤘🏽

Mate do you reckon you could get to the starter motor from underneath if you take off the wheel?
@forevercruisin6715
@forevercruisin6715 3 года назад
Hey mate, yeah you probably could, found it easier to go from the top/bottom for the bolts and plugs, if you go in through the wheel arch just needed to pull all the guards off and their are also a few solid brake lines you need to try and navigate through.

Pops tools and the aptitude to take it on blindly well done to your pop and parents for giving you this ability and mind set.....just like i say to my kids "if you dont have a go, you will never know". its a dieing thing in the new generations i must say. Copper contacts, not a little earth wire but we got the point and the new contacts will definitely be able to handle the current better due to more surface area. Great video. I used to rebuild all my starter motors and alternators. Found out the hard way not to cut the commutator too far on the lathe too.
