isn't videofyles the opposite of GUI...instead of commands we gotta write verbose text. Instead of asking again and again wasting time doing things that need just a click, one can do it by learning, say, from 30min tutorial of some basic video editor like clipchamp.
@LudwigSonneck

Just because you gotta write text into a chat it doesn't mean it's not a GUI. Using natural language to interact with software is just a different way than single-purpose UI controls like buttons and menus... And both ways have their pros and cons.

Hi, interesting video. I am new to the channel so I am sorry if I am asking you to repeat your self with this question. I am wondering why not have web based tool? If I understand correctly you have chat based video editor? so select clips, tell it what I want, chat with it to get it fine-tuned and it gives me a video? Sounds to me like validating web based tool might be a thing, pair it with hosting and publish to platform tools and you could have a winner. Simplify editing, storage and publishing even on weak devices and enable whole new segment of creators? I might be wrong tho.
@LudwigSonneck
@LudwigSonneck 6 дней назад
no worries, not repeating with this! It's not web based because of the file processing. Because then one would have to upload the file to the web before they can be processed, and now it happens on the users computer. But your points are super valid, I have in fact build a web-based video editor before this tool here (flowtapes.com, which I also use for these RU-vid videos). But I needed this tool here myself because raw videos from a camera can easily be 10-20GB and that's just too large to handle online. So i'd compress them first with VIdeofyles and can then edit in Flowtapes easily.

I’m an early adopter in general. testimonials all feel fake, in general I don’t read or trust them. Just saying that so you don’t spend too much time on something that might not get you the target audience. That said, I myself might be an outlier 😅 Thanks for the video appreciate it a lot.
@LudwigSonneck

Thanks for the input Morten! One way to improve this bad reputation is for example to link them to the actual people's social media (e.g. X) account, so people see that person is real and could even ask them about their experience. Or what I also see often is that people put reviews as testimonial on their landing page (e.g. from ProductHunt or Trustpilot)
@pallavbakshi612
@pallavbakshi612 6 дней назад
I totally agree with you Morten! All these statups (solo-startups as well) have so many testimonials even before the product launch. If you do some digging you realize most of the "customers" are just their friends. I trust my own judgement more than a star-studded testimonial. A free trial is 100X better than 100 5-star ratings.

Yes but it was rather simple tasks (like compressing), where it's just one processing step. So this exact type of using it needs much more, to uncover potential hiccups there... In the end it comes down to the prompt, that I for example have VIdeofyles ask for more clarification if it cannot reliably derive the command from the user's input

Hey, here some wild ideas * Add an option to purchase your app with your own API key, it is quite popular model for AI based apps * Speaking of potential users and features for your apps: * Those who want to start their own vlog and don't want to spend too much time editing. You can make an agreement with people who sell courses on starting a RU-vid blog to include a partnership program and direct traffic. * Based on the idea of archiving: CCTV or car cameras. Storing such a large amount of content for a long time is not profitable as it takes up a lot of space. Compressing it might be useful. * Compressing videos on old hard drives. I have a lot of videos that I rarely watch but keep just in case or for memories. Freeing up space would be useful for me, giving a second life to the hard drive. * Auto-processing videos into other formats or even cross-posting to multiple social media - for Reels, Shorts, or TikTok. Feed single video and get processed video for multiple platforms at once * You can add more subtitle options - setting colors, fonts, highlighting effects, transitions. I often browse my feed without sound enabledj, and I stop much more frequently on videos with subtitles. * For entrepreneurs, it might be possible to integrate video bank services so the app can create advertising videos for social networks based on your material and content from banks with the same flow as now - you describe the result and the app executes it. * I remember there were ideas to create an automatic video editor - you upload many different raw videos, and it gives you a finished clip for RU-vid. But back then, there was no AI, so the activity in each frame was analyzed by algorithm, and even then it wasn't bad. PS: why don't you post in accountability channel in your Discord server? =)

I could see this being useful especially for streamers who release lightly edited VODs of their streams on a regular basis. For example, they tend to take breaks during long streams and show a "be right back" scene while away (usually with something like BRB written on screen). I would imagine that being able to simply prompt the app to cut out those sections from the recording would be useful. Maybe even providing the BRB scene image as the target to cut out. Perhaps this is something you've already thought about, but it would super be useful to be able to save prompts kinda like macros. So being able to create something like a "Remove BRB" macro pre configured to do the above. You could even chain macros into a pipeline to apply the same process to frequent videos like stream VODs. A simple pipeline could be something like: "Add intro" -> "Remove BRB" -> "Add outro". I could even envision more complex behaviour, like generating a credits segment thanking Patreon supporters based on your current list of supporters (fetched directly from Patreon or provided as a CSV by the user). It could even generate a "special thanks to: x, y, z for donating during today's stream!" segment based on donation notifications appearing on screen during the stream. The ultimate pipeline would be something like: "fetch VOD from Twitch" -> "do a bunch of edit macros" -> "upload result to RU-vid". Not saying you should go in this direction specifically, but creating an app with a more niche target audience containing great features specifically targeted (and marketed) for them will probably result in a more compelling offer that the target audience is willing to pay for, as opposed to trying to make something for everyone that ends up being mediocre at many things (and few are willing to pay for). Basically the difference between "I can use this app to solve my problem (but I could also use these other apps...)" and "this app was specifically designed to solve my problem". If your app succeeds in a specific niche (e.g. streamers who want an easy way to process VODs) you can always launch another app aimed at another niche by take the same base tech and adding targeted features on top of it.
@LudwigSonneck
@LudwigSonneck 22 дня назад
Ah thanks man for the input. Streamers is a really good idea, will think more about this. The only thing is that i know nothing about this as a community and how things work among them. Saving prompts is something i also realized would be super useful. And to even bring it into some kind of macros. Although the processing you describe is pretty specialized, like you said. This is too complex for normal prompting, because then the software would need to detect context of the video, and also generating text overlays in a good way is not easy.. I'm working on that with Flowtapes and it needs soo much code to get it working even just halfway properly.. But it's totally correct that a specific target market/community is differentiating it much more.. I just wanted to start general because it's quite a small tool, so i also have to see first how much interest it generates and if it's worth to double down more

Any one who is going to pay subscription should get a value from that product or service for to keep paying. Your potential customers should be earning some kind of money from video editing or creating for to keep paying. In addition they don’t want to edit their videos. One example is gaming streamers. They are uploading 8 hour un edited videos to RU-vid just to avoid editing. 100 K channels making some editing. 500 K and above hiring someone for editing. In that math your potential customers could be between 5K-50K gaming channels. Don’t bother with some one who has some videos, think it like B2B not B2C (one time pay). If anyone producing content, they need some kind of solution to their problem. 8 hour video means not bothering about solving a problem. For compression tool you can check the social media platforms how they are treating the content size about recommending the new content. Comment became a bit long and I’m sincerely wishing your success in your journey.

great content! its funny how runway extensions always come in at the last moment. I have a running joke that I have had 6 months of runway for the past 24 months. It's gotten to the point where I feel like I shouldn't even think about it, because something always happens (but thats a dangerous thought xD). From experience, i think you should only make it free, if its fits into a very tangible customer pipeline. And it would be much better to have something free if it is was a small part of a bigger product, and you knew your customer so well that you could draw a line on the features or usage, that you know they would cross into paid because of it (i know easier said than done). i've been working on an open source product for a long time now and still struggle to monetize the paid version

Thanks Hakim and yes it's ridiculous lol but i agree, optimism can be such a good driver! And yes good take on the free vs paid, that's really helpful input. @@Elzelgator Well, with the ASS format you create a file that contains the subtitles for the entire video and their styling like position, font size etc. And then you apply the ass file with ffmpeg which renders the subtitles on the video.
