I cried and cried when I heard John died.Covid became so real that day. I listened to his music for hours each day for months while I sewed masks to be given away. His music is so comforting. As others have said, i felt like i lost an old friend.
Benita, your right arm is much better now! You are pretty! Thank you for video! Benita, mas mabuti na ang iyong kanang braso ngayon! Maganda ka! Salamat sa video!
Hearing him sing Paradise as an old broken man is so much more poignant than the original version. The loss is in his voice. I feel it on a more personal level.
He would've been in his early 20s when he wrote this song. And incredibly sensitive song and topic for someone so young. Prine was a unique individual and song writer. He looked at the world from different angles than the rest of us.
I see a lot of comments about this song mentioning new marriages. It works as a wedding song, no doubt. We're a couple of days away from our 30th anniversary. This song takes on a whole new meaning, having spent more than half of my life with that woman.
Wife and I used to perform this as a cover with slight alterations in lyrics to make it more personal. She being a Latina, when i would sing, "cusses in Spanish when she shaves her legs," it always brought a roar of laughter.
Just want you to know the good news of the Gospel. The bad news is that you and I (everyone) are sinners. And since God is Holy He doesn’t put up with sin. So sin leads to hell. The good news is God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins on the cross. This means Jesus paid the debt we owed but couldn’t pay. So if one repents and places faith (trust) in Jesus Christ they can be assured of heaven. I love you and so does God.
My wife and I walked outside of the Akron Civic Theater one Sunday in the mid 90’s. It was mid day and no one was on the street. This guy passed us on the empty street. I said to my wife I think that’s John Prine! After a few seconds I turned and yelled JOHN! He turned and walked back towards us. After a few seconds of hello and introductions he looked at us and said. I can’t find a way to get in to the theater. We helped him find the back entrance where Arlo Guthrie had just pulled in. They were co headlining the show that night. Some things you never forget no matter how small they may seem.
