In most scores and performances of this huge four movement work the Andante is III and the Scherzo is II. Here their order is reversed as per some recent research. I like the original order with the scherzo first. The emotional tension of the end of the Andante is better balanced by the mystery in the beginning of the Finale. Both outer movements are sonata-allegros and at least Mahler would have written a short intermezzo to balance the scherzo if he wanted to follow it with the Finale.
As good as it gets! I have viewed this more than a dozen times after recently seeing Kevin perform for 3 nights in a row for the July 4th concerts in Indianapolis! Spectacular!!
Why is he still singing ????it is horrendous.why not stop when things are still good. this is such a shame. it never should have happened. it is PAINFUL!!!!!!!
She was A M A Z I N G as Scout! I had the privilege of seeing her on stage with the great Jeff Daniels, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Both were excellent!
At 1:57 idk if he meant to take that down the octave. It sounds like he played a palm e and it was under blown so he had the greatest save known to man and played the rest down an octave.
I have heard from many people he was disliked by the Marine Band and they were relieved he retired. He apparently didn’t care about his musicians and only thought about his career advancement.
This has to be one of my favorite sets of all time, the selection of pieces both arranged and original is just stellar. Absolutely outstanding performance by this group as always.
So unbelievably beautiful, uplifting and inspiring! I adore dance, particularly Ballet and Modern. Some of my happiest moments in my life have been in Modern and Ballet classes. Please, Could I possibly take any private lessons from a UM graduate dance student or Ballet or Modern Summer dance class open to the public?
Dan, I love the way you put the movement from the Greeks to Shakespeare to Chekhov-like the movement of a line to a square to a cube, from a a fundamental to duality into non-duality!
