No. I had to pull out both to confirm but Alps leafs are larger overall so won't fit inside a Clickiez housing. The leaf is also longer so wouldn't interact with the stem in the same way and would be too late in the stroke most likely. While they look similar, they are very different.
hmm makes me considering buying some clickiez and mod it that way, maybe with a 3d printed tool that would solve the inconsistency issues. the pop sound is the deal breaker for me and this mod indeed fixes it
How did you get consistency with bending the click leaf? I was thinking of bending them too, but IDK how to make it consistent enough to warrant doing it to more than 1 switch.
I just did it by hand. Held the leaf so that my thumb nail was along the exiting bend backwards and bend gently until it was bent forward slightly. There likely is some inconsistency in doing this and I haven't finished enough switches for my whole board yet to know if that will cause any issues in the feeling. But I'm not overly picky so I don't expect it will bother me if they're slightly off.
@@87engr I came up with a better way to handle the tactile part which I posted about here... www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/10sp2z5/zeal_clickiez_alternative_tactile_dampened_mod/ There's still some inconsistency in the leaf from the bending. But it's decent. Still would be way better if Zeal or someone else created a similar switch with a more "normal" tactile leaf. And with the less tactility, the switches are pretty light. So the heavier springs might have been better for me.
@@BillyBuerger If I don't mind having the clicky sound (I love blue and white Alps) and just want to reduce tactility, is the bent leaf mode sufficient, or do 3D inserts and/or dampening also do something to reduce the extreme tactility?
Hi ! you disabled comments on your "iRocks K76M keyboard typing demo" can I ask how is your keyboard holding up now? is it working fine still by now? :) i loved the sound but I'm not sure if I should buy it, I don't find many reviews about it . Thanks in advance!
The overall build quality of the keyboard isn't great. The case and keycaps are both pretty crap and don't do justice to the switches. But, for $80 USD, it's not bad.
Saw them in Las Vegas i the 90's, used to have a VCR tape of one of their shows misplaced it over the years. I regret that a lot kept you laughing the whole show.
Hmm.. just looking at it when you pull sideways you pull directly against one of the "teeth", I wonder what happes if you do it up-down direction instead?
This is BRILLIANT. I just ordered one of the plastic pullers off Amazon for $3. Thanks so much! I'm going to try this soon (and clean one of my Hi-Teks FINALLY). You rock!!!
So if I understand correctly, you silenced these switches by lubing them? I'm looking to build a keyboard for work and I'm looking at what's out there to plan my build first.
nope liquid latex isn't a lubricant i think that he put it where the slider comes into contact with the housings just get either gat silent, healios or zilents if you want a silent switch
It's a custom keyboard I made. Took some inspiration from the Atreus and Ergodox keyboards. Here's my post on reddit about it... www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/8i7l26/photos_custom_pcb_with_keyplus_controller_and/
Yeah, I was happy with the results. Although as others have noted, BOX royals seem to develop a bit of a clickyness to them over time. So they're not as quiet overall. But still have the dampened bottom out and return. If Mike does ever come out with a dampened BOX royal or other BOX switch, I will be all over that.
My general feeling is that all "normal" MX style switches are pretty similar in noise. Obviously clicky ones like blue and green will be louder because of the click. But any other non-silenced switch is going to have a "clack" when you bottom out and when you release. Red, brown, etc... all have those. You could make arguments that with one type you could type a certain way to avoid some of this. But the release noise is very difficult to avoid. I've never tried Cherry Silent Red switches but I would assume they would be the most silent. But I prefer tactile switches. That's why I silenced these Gateron Browns. So far they've been holding up fine and still sound beautifully quiet.
jokes were great, guy was brilliant, had problem understanding some of the duck. "do you take master charge?", "i'm just a baby duck." greeeat lines!! a real great shame he is gone, people of this quality are few and far between, and this loss is a great one.
Put me back in the box.I'm just a baby duck.If you don't talk i'm gonna flush you down the toilet!Hey baby do you take master charge?HAHAHA!LMHO! Have a nice day END OF LINE
oh man i remember seeing this when i was 7 or 8 didn't understand the joke but laughed my ass off at the duck seeing this again now that I'm older i was having trouble breathing i was laughing so hard
Thank you so much for uploading this. I saw this when I was very young, and it had such an impression on me that after all this time I looked up "I'm just a baby duck", and here I find this great gem. Thank you!
on 6:27 throu 8:40 is my best part it made me lagh sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard!!
Many Thanks !! I've been looking for these videos for 10 years. Even A&E couldn't help. The ex-spousal unit received custody of my original tapings, ( along with pretty much everything else.) LOL
OMG, how classic (and I don't just mean Martha Quinn) I watched this show obsessively back in the day and still have some classic comedy on tape. Thanks for the blast from the past.
