In a single street in London, separated by a wall, are the homes of two of history’s most significant musical artists.
25 Brook Street is the house that belonged to George Frideric Handel and the place where he composed some of the world’s most enduring baroque music, including Messiah. On the top floor of 23 Brook Street is the flat where, two centuries later, Jimi Hendrix lived with his girlfriend, record player and guitar.
Both were the homes of musical innovators who chose London and changed music. See them together under one roof at Handel & Hendrix in London.
I just wonder what Mr Handel would have made of Jimi Hendrix sharing the pad: I honestly think he would have approved since Georg moved music on wheareas JS Bach left it where it had been decades before.
100% Jimi Hendrix would be alive today, had he managed to stick with that classy lady. By all sane accounts, it appears that he was murdered not through some devious conspiracy, but by unwittingly falling into the clutches of a psychopath groupie. Monika Dannemann swapped out his regular sleeping pills for her illegal pills (brought to England from Germany) that were many times the strength, and gave them to him the night he announced that their 2 or 3 day fling was over, that he was flying back to New York the next day. Dannemann would insist on the delusion that she was Jimi Hendrix’s “wife” for decades after he died in her apartment, until she committed suicide after Kathy Etchingham successfully proved in court that she wasn’t, that she was essentially a nutcase.
So I was visiting this friend of mine that I used to get concert tickets from. As I walked in he was holding a suit coat and he said try this on. I put the jacket on and it fit good, a little tight in the shoulders. I said ok what's up with this? He said that is one of Jimi Hendrix's jackets. He had a whole room full of Jimi's memorabilia he had just purchased from Jimi's dad. I regret to this day of not purchasing any items he had. That is the closest I have got to Jimi other than a dream I had where I am sure it was him in the dream.
Marvelous! I'd never heard a harpsichord do this piece before, or perhaps it was deeply buried in orchestra arrangement beyond point of discernment. Wonderful job, all!!! ❤❤❤
Those white peoples went to admire and worship a black Man guitar genius , the ipocrisie of white peoples is huge , the British white peoples are very racists in time Jimi was alive and today yes today they celebrated the death of Hendrix , by the way he die because the drugs of white man, and the white woman was with him at that time he just let him die without help him . The envy of whites people so terrible
I'm stunned. Before Hendrix, my whole life was Handel. Before I was twelve I had Most of The Messiah memorized. Then the first four notes of Hey Joe, Completely changed my life. Jimi and I had a most remarkable relationship. I won't tell here. He called me The Highway Child then wrote the song so I would know. Absolutely remarkable. He always Knew me when we met, even when we were children. Even in the Spirit.
I just went this past July. For me it was a pilgrimage. My wife and kids patiently walking with me as I took my sweet time in every room. The volunteers are amazing and knowledgeable. I'll come back again for sure! To the gentleman who was giving the tour of the actual room, thank you for what you did for me. It was special and meaningful for me as a guitar player...
When I was in London, I visited the Handel House on, I believe, Oxford Street. The house where Handel lived is so well preserved that I half expected to meet Handel while I was there!
