I was about 10 when I started listening to hip hop around 88. White kid from SJ. East Coast was always my fav-EPMD, Tribe, Redman,Pete Rock, Rakim, Nas, etc. Hearing this and OutKast Players Ball the same year in 94 when Inwas about 16 was incredible but also a little foreign with the rapid lyrics, Southern/Midwest slang and accents, etc. And for OutKast s first album, the use of live instruments was way different than the usual drum loop and old jazz/soul sample used mostly in East coast beats up until then. Nevertheless it was incredible music and shifted hip hop’s landscape forever. I’m 46 now-Just classic classic shit-hard to describe
Damn I was 13 when this came out in 1995,every radio station was pumping it, nostalgia life was fun only problem we had was worrying of getting hiding from your parents if you did something bad
