Growing up my first lp was new edition with Mr telephone man that's where I started listening and remembering music soul4real reminds me of early new edition
People say taste is a matter of opinion and that we’re just are determined to think the music we grew up on is the best but as someone who spent their adolescent years in the 00s, I can say I still think 90s rnb/rap is undeniably the best and many people much younger than me who listen to music seriously agree....I think it’s just a scientific fact that this was the golden age of those genres at this point
That first 20 seconds always gives me chills, how did we get away from making timeless music……do me a favor, introduce your kids to this! Rest in peace Hev.
Here pumping this joint still. Never stopped since these Dalrymple brothers came out in '95. Andre Harrell (RIP) had the notion of making Uptown the new Motown of the streets, and inn Soul For Real he found his "Jackson Five," so to speak (even though there were only four). RIP also to the late Heavy D, whose guidance was also instrumental in their rise to the top. **BTW, was that Bad Boy's TOTAL shown during the video, especially at the **1:32** mark?**
Every little thing I used to do for my wife ( past tense ) And she is still on my mind even though she is gone now. God rest her soul. And It was all good too.
@@LiquidDIO yessss I asked the same question myself I knew I wasn't the only one who requested it at the skating rinks on Saturdays and Fridays at the roller rink.
Africans in Africa were grooving to Soul For Real's songs. In the 90's, African FM Radio Stations were playing American R& B, Soul and Hip-Hop/Rap songs steadily on a daily basis. I started following Soul For Real after watching the video of their song 'Candy Rain' on a local TV Station in Africa. Great Memories.
This song took the charts by storm the same year I left Kenya to go to the USA (1995). Awesome early memories of my first years in the states. 22 years later I returned for good. Life is an interesting journey, we somehow always come full circle :-). God bless you all.
"I get so weak I can hardly breath "I lose all control-SWV Rock the boat ,rock the boat work the middle - aaliyah Don't go chasing waterfalls please stick to the rivers and the lakes that your used to-TLC Tender love, tender love love so tender -Force md's
Whenever I hear a few 16 and 17 year old kids at my workplace playing this on iTunes and singing every word note for note it gives me chills and gives me hope for our future. Please take me back to 1995 when I was in 8th grade on spring break listening to this on the radio and watching this music video on MTV. They don't make music like this anymore..
U were born in the glory years fuck. I feel like anybody from that era should be a millionaire with all the possibilities u had before the world went to shit
I was 8 years old when this came out in the 90's, I used to look up to all the 20 year old having all this fun and couldn't wait to be in my 20's......little did I know my 20's would be be nothing compared to the way they lived it up in the 90's. I MISSED IT ALL!!!!
My daughter whos 17 searched for tupacs california love and a 90s playlist popped up been 20 years and im again hooked on this song remebering when i was 17 in love
Has anyone notice how we keep coming back to old school r&b how we will never forget these songs cause they're such great hits, I have a feeling we won't look back to songs from this generation cause we will forget the tunes, that's the difference between now and then, no one will miss these days songs but we will always miss the old era of r&b ❤️
Yes, However they're still performing...I heard on the radio that they're going to be appearing somewhere but have forgotten where at the moment........
I'm a gen z kid but I grew up with parents who knew good music and old video games so I'm well rounded. I love rap n hip hop especially when there is no vulgarity and just pure outright bars flowing from these guy's.
Soundtrack to your life. I am sure our mums and dads feel the same about "My girl" or "Dock of the Bay"... 10 years from now someone will be making this same statement to a lil' wayne number...
TLC, Brandy, Monica, Aaliyah, Mary, Tevin, Usher, S4R, Jodeci/K-Ci & JoJo, Dru Hill, Xscape, En Vogue, SWV, R. Kelly, Busta, Missy & Timbaland, Michael, Janet, Luther, Toni, Whitney, Mariah, etc. was the music I grew up when this particular song came out, I was a toddler back then, but something about that whole era of music was undeniable. Even Nickelodeon, BET, MTV & VH1 were strong networks back then. Music was something everyone consumed. Nowadays it is take it or leave it.
Andrew Araque I didn't. When I want some real music I just tap the Spotify app on my phone. For real. That's like the gateway for timeless hip-hop and R&B music.
This music video is so damn lit and festive, I guarantee that day of the video shoot lives rent free in all of their minds til this day. Hell I remember cookouts in the 90s and this song would have my lil knuckle headed ass dancing with my family hyping me up. I really do miss this era in time 💪🏿🥹
@@mariahc6888 In Australia, we have a concert once a year, called rnb Fridays held by our top radio station. And all the old school rnb stars come and perform. It's the best.
@@craig9439 omg your so lucky...That has to be so awesome. I wish I could see that but I'm in U.S.A. we use to have them come to the casinos once in a while but do to covid.. I only have my dreams to see that.🙏🏼💖
I was 19 years old on road trip with two buddies to Colorado driving through the Rockies when i first heard this, music like this always reminds you of where you were and who you with at the time
THIS IS THE TRUE DEFINITION OF MUSIC, FROM THE BEATS TO THE LYRICS.......... MUSIC THAT NEVER FADES, NEVER LOOSES IS VIBE!!!!!! MUSIC THAT SPEAKS TO EVERY AGE🔥🔥🔥
I appreciate that! It was so deeply embedded that I heard it, but still attributed it to just being a part of this song! Now, I can't un-hear it and I usually catch samples immediately!
"Take your time think it over..let me know"...everything in the 90s was the best..the music..the videos..the clothing..the state of mind of the people..the love. Now everything is shitty.
NO ONE TALKS MUCH ALWAYS ON THERE GADGETS ITS CRAPPY ON THE 🚆 I LOOK AROUND ON THERE GADGETS NO TALKING ALL EYES ON GADGETS ITS SAD TO SEE HOW PEOPLE ARE TODAY TAKE YOUR GADGET AND GORILLA GLUE AND YOUR ✋ !!!!
I miss my childhood. The 90s were the shit! You guys know what I'm talking about... All That, SNICK every Saturday night with the orange couch, Saturday morning cartoons, music like this, Nintendo 64 & the original PlayStation, T.G I.F., Mad TV, ah man I can keep on and on...
yea true, these kids these days don't got no memories except Facebook, Twitter and Twerking. That's why they try to relate to things they don't know like 80's 90's

This was the jam. Dope beat. Charismatic performers who looked good and could dance. When I was a kid this was bein bumped everywhere. They’re from NY like me so it was definitely the kind of act we all knew out there. Good old days 👏🏽
Sorry I'm an 80s baby. Though I lose it whenever I hear this Color Me Badd, and Mariah Carey...Also love me some New York Undercover. Lt. shoots her daughter's rapist in the same episode this jam plays.
Listening to this is the closest way to feeling young and happy again . I can’t believe how old I’m getting! I used to play this on my radio that I got for Christmas as a kid and I felt so cool in my room pretending I had a boyfriend singing this to me lol
