🤩This is so awesome! Thank you for being on the Summer Creative Retreat with me and for namedropping us here. I love seeing you experimenting and embracing the unexpected along the way. I absolutely love that little circle tool - the repeatable shapes it makes are so good.
So fun! I think it turned out great. I'm curious if/what you'll create on top of that fun patchwork background. I hope you're having a nice summer so far. :)
I'm not sure, Em. It'll probably need to be something more graphic with black and white to stand out against all that color and pattern. :) I'm having a great summer so far! I hope you are too! :)
It’s so true that art changes for us through different times in our lives, there’s always something new to find. Your trip here looks amazing, so much to see! 🤩
@@emk1312 I love that idea, Em! I did a collage portrait for one of the first and it was so fun. Thanks for the great inspiration! Are you creating anything fun this week?
Thanks for watching, Gemma! The Urban Sketchers of West Michigan group is going in a few weeks and I'm so excited not only to join them for the first time but to also get to enjoy the lantern festival at a slower pace. :)
I love how you just go with the flow and start exploring the canvas, without a plan in mind. Do you have a favorite color pencil brand you can recommend?
Thanks, Jutta! It's really fun to see what comes out of creating this way. :) Oh yes, Prismacolor by far are my favorite brand of colored pencils. They are a soft lead that layers and blends very nicely.
Thank you so much, Keren! Yes, I found mounting my watercolor paper to cardboard first to work really well when I embroider into my paintings. However, I've done it without mounting first and that works well too, as long as my paper wasn't too thin or delicate. Do you embroider or sew back into your artwork?
No, I mostly embroider onto cardstock in card making. But I’m always on the lookout for other uses for embroidery. I hope to start doing it on my photographs.
@@jenrodgers4677 What a great idea for card making! I'd also like to incorporate it into my photography or work more of my photography into my embroidered paintings.
How lovely! What do,you do to prevent your glued hearts from wrinkling? Every time I do that, my paper warps… 🙄 And do you have a favorite fineliner brand?
Thanks! I occasionally put a piece of copy paper over them and press and rub the surface to ensure they stay flat. My favorite is iBayam Fineliner Pens but they aren't waterproof so I have to be careful with mixed media work. Otherwise my go to are Micron pens.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! If you try it out, I'd love to hear how it goes as it's a new technique I'm exploring more and more in my artistic practice.
