Those old dragster engines just sound so lazy compared to today's dragster engines. Even a lot of "street" engines sound better than those things did. The old dragster just sound like a mono-tone "Bwwaaaaa" and they don't sound like they want to RPM like today's motors do.
First time seeing this video, but I wanted to add that I hope you did something good with the 71 Chrysler 300. My dad had a 65 and 69. The 69 was a special order (his sister was a dealer). It may have been a 4dr. but it did have bucket seats and the center console. Had the 440 with all the additions. His 65 was equipped like the L model, but lacked the badging. Super fast cars, just ask my dad's insurance agent.
im a c4 fan 96 lt4 , and i want to tear one apart, When tearing one apart save the parts, you might want them later, when making mods always save the stock stuff your removing. , they have value and you might wanna put them back on after your mod don't work out.. that clam hood costs 1100 bucks at least. some c4 parts cannot be found anymore. obviously these guys don't have a vested interest in the car.
My guess is 5 hp. Most people think everything will give them 25 more hp. My coworker has a 2016 F150 3.3 v6. He thought K&N air filter would give him 25 more hp because he thought the stock air filter was restricting hp. I told him the v8 use the same air filter as the 3.3 v6.
I Want too see a "rear mounted style turbo system:... dyno before and after.. Mounting the same turbo, but back 10 ft??? and running a boost pipe back too front,, and obviously need a oil scavenge pump.... rear mounts are easy way to go on certain vehichles.... And theres proof that thy work.. but.. be cool too se dyno results..
Do you know to know the y block engine is tolove the y block engine.... Good engine just don't use non detergent oil... And you'll never have a oiling problem
Your comment says it all. And like most of us from the 50's and 60's. Chevy had all the adv, speed parts were everywhere for that engine. However, both Ford, Mopar, and AMC. They had to be good from the factory because the aftermarket was just so small for those companies' cars. Makes you wonder if the situation was different and either Ford or Mopar had the same parts available for their engines, how different thing would be. There was a local guy who ran a Y block. And to date no one knew what he did to that engine, he shifted at 7K and had no trouble with any of the local Chevy guys cars. Usually pulling them by a couple of cars. Later he got a Mustang 427FE and took it up the same way. It got so people would run him, but seldom for cash, lol. True that!
